They were communicative, professional, and had a platform that made choosing songs and getting organized a breeze. It was affordable as far as wedding add-ons goes and classed up the wedding, our guests were all excited and impressed. Our violinist was incredibly talented and added an incredible flair. We chose a hip hop theme he nailed it (classy but also super fun and energetic). My only regret is that we were so busy that we didn't get to stop and truly appreciate it as much as we should have. Dan and his team were so easy to work with, and their 5-piece DJ band was the perfect, fun switch-up from a traditional band for our June wedding at Greenpoint Loft. We also had a ceremony guitarist and a saxophonist with tracks for the cocktail hour, which added great touches to the day. The uplights they brought for the room were priced very well and created a beautiful atmosphere. The music planning worksheet they provided was incredibly helpful, and they offered valuable advice on the timeline and flow of the reception, which was a huge help. They were fun to work with, and on the night of the wedding, they absolutely crushed it. The music was fantastic, they kept the vibes high, and their crowd engagement was excellent. We highly recommend The Hook Club for any event. They made our wedding unforgettable!”

“My husband and I used Direct Entertainment for our DJ and videographer for our wedding and we could not be more pleased!! The team was professional, great at communication, very kind and professional, and they helped make our day absolutely perfect! Jeff, our DJ kept the dance floor alive ALL NIGHT!! When the music had to stop at the end of the night, the dance floor was still completely full and no one wanted it to end. He did a great job announcing the events of the night, made sure that our ceremony music was perfect, and he stuck to our wedding playlist with the exception for a couple guest requests (which we were happy to allow). We were so happy and thankful to have Jeff there! Sie, our videographer also did a wonderful job! We have not yet received our video as our wedding was less than 2 weeks ago, but I already know it is going to be amazing. He was so great with communication, was prompt with his timing, and he even set up a second camera for guests to break away and give us well wishes for our marriage, which I'm so excited to watch back. He was very professional and wonderful to work with. We decided to add videography at the last minute because we thought we might regret not having it, and I am SO happy we asked Jim at Direct Entertainment if they had someone available for our day just a month before, and they did!! Jim, the coordinator at Direct Entertainment frequently checked in with us, asked us questions about ourselves, and genuinely made us feel like he cared about us and our special day. He was great to work with leading up to being assigned our designated DJ and videographer, and even after, he checked in to make sure we were happy and that all of the planning was going well. Overall, we would 1000% recommend Direct Entertainment for any wedding entertainment needs! “Marcus did an amazing job as the DJ for our wedding at the Prospect Park Boathouse! Prior to the wedding, we completed a worksheet on the timeline and our song preferences, and then had a planning meeting with him where we went over all the details and he gave us advice on flow and timeline based on his extensive experience DJ-ing weddings. Through all our interactions, we could tell how detail-oriented and experienced he was. The Prospect Park Boathouse can be a tricky venue with its short load-in time and long, narrow layout, but Marcus knew it well and planned accordingly. We also had a Vietnamese/Chinese wedding; in addition to a DJ, we also had a pianist with a singer, and a bilingual emcee. This added some complexity in terms of timeline and switching between the singer and the DJ, but Marcus coordinated well with everyone, kept track of the timeline, and handled all transitions between live music and DJ sets seamlessly. He also showed up a little early to make sure all equipment was set up well and did a mic check during the cocktail hour. During the dance portion of the night, the dance floor was packed all night and people did not want to leave! He played all the songs we wanted (along with additional ones he selected) and all the transitions and mixes were fantastic and kept the energy/vibe high. Many guests commented on how great our DJ was! Even though we had a different emcee, we know that Marcus would have done a fantastic job as an emcee as well - he is warm, friendly, gracious, and charismatic. He is not only a great DJ but also a fantastic human being!”

Some of our requested songs were included, but I had hoped more of our playlist would be incorporated into the evening. The only other issue was that, just before our grand exit, he approached us to mention that he hadn't received enough food. We had paid for a vendor meal for him, so I wasn't sure what had happened, and it didn't feel like the best time to bring it up while we were in the middle of such a special moment. Despite those concerns, he was friendly, punctual, and our guests clearly enjoyed themselves. If having a lively dance floor is your top priority, he does a good job creating a fun atmosphere.”

There were a few minor hiccups during the ceremony and reception (that were not caused by him), but he was able to be quick on his feet and keep the wedding flowing. The photo booth package he has available is a MUST! Guests were raving about the printouts and the quality of the photos! Attached is an example of what the printouts look like. These also can be sent to your phone and will be emailed to you the next day. We were beyond happy to with the energy, music selections, effort, and work Ryan put out for our wedding! “Working with DJ Peter Piper (Peter Toussaint) was one of the BEST decisions we made!! We literally lost count of the number of people who told us afterwards that Peter was the best wedding DJ they had ever heard! Guests of all ages loved the mix he created and he had an amazing intuition for which song should come next and how to perfectly blend them together! People were on the dance floor literally the whole night and it was a blast getting to dance with everyone for such a long time. Peter was punctual, communicative and friendly throughout the whole process. Before the event, Peter had several calls with us, just to make sure he totally understood the flow of the evening and was happy to make any announcements we requested throughout the night. We gave him two Spotify playlists in advance, and he played many of the songs we suggested while adding several other songs we hadn't thought of ourselves but fit our vibe perfectly. It's also clear he LOVES his job and his energy and enthusiasm was infectious as he danced along in the DJ booth. We really hope he will be DJ-ing at other weddings we attend, because he certainly knows how to set a phenomenal vibe and throw an unforgettable party!!!!”

“I found Gerald and The Plus Ones here on Zola, and from the first time I saw a video of Gerald playing the acoustic guitar, I knew I wanted him to play at my wedding. He has the most amazing voice and acoustic song selection, which perfectly matched the vibe we were looking for during our ceremony and cocktail hour. Communication with Gerald was incredibly reassuring, he was always quick to reply, offered great ideas, embraced our vision, and was genuinely excited to play at our wedding. Luckily, he also has an incredible band playing with him, which made our reception complete! Their song list had exactly the 70s and '80s/funky vibe with a touch of '90s millennial classics that we wanted for our party. They kept absolutely everyone dancing - from my 5yo nephew, to my mother-in-law and her friends, to our friends. Plus, they will learn any five specific songs you want for your day. As a Brazilian, it was really important to me to bring some Brazilian music elements into my wedding day. Gerald learned a Bossa Nova song for when we walked down the aisle and included several other tracks during dinner. On top of that, because my husband is Jewish, we absolutely had to have the Hora. The Plus Ones delivered it with mastery! It was so fun and exciting, and everyone had an incredible time, it was definitely a highlight of our day.
