The Hook Club

“If we could give The Hook Club more stars, we would! Let me get my one gripe out of the way at the top here: I’m pretty sure the only reason my now husband agreed to a wedding celebration was to hire The Hook Club after seeing them at a friend’s wedding before we met. It was the only part of the wedding planning process he felt truly passionate about from the jump – we knew we wanted them before we even had a venue or date and went so far as to clear our potential dates with them before booking anything else. Fast forward, and Dan made the band planning process so supported and seamless that my husband’s one job went off without a hitch. The problem? Despite me planning every other single little detail of our three-day wedding weekend, the first thing that every single guest complimented (and still raves above, 1 month later) was THE BAND! But in truth, we wouldn’t have it any other way. We are absolutely ecstatic with our choice of hiring The Hook Club for our wedding. We did acoustic guitars for the ceremony, sax and tracks for cocktail and band and DJ for reception. THC was outstanding to work with from the jump. Dan is a wealth of knowledge and organization, and brings a calm, cool, collected vibe through every step of the planning process. Not to mention, he’s a great musician who can come discuss timeline with you while also playing the base day of :D. The process THC uses to help plan is smooth and clear. The communication was great throughout – we knew what to expect from the first planning call all the way up to some adhoc timeline changes day of. The band has an extensive repertoire and was able to take in our song, vibe, and timeline requests while also using their extensive experience to guide us along the way. The music carried the vibe throughout the day – from guitars at the ceremony to sax and tracks leading through cocktail hour and a mix of dance sets, slow dances, and expert MC’ing on the dance floor, we couldn’t get enough. So much so, that we extended the end time of the event just to have more fun on the dance floor with THC! Everyone was so nice, supportive, energetic and just brought their outstandingly talented A game and the absolute best vibe. The band got out on the dance floor with us, led us in call and response and a little choreographed proud Mary moment. Our first dance song is not a very common song, not only did THC learn it for us, but they provided us a track of their composition beforehand so we could practice the dance. You’ll see in the pictures my face when I first heard them play it – completely awestruck! That was pretty much my inner face the entire rest of the night in their presence. I have so many fond memories of engaging with THC throughout our wedding. If I could do it again, I’d hire THC without a second thought.”

You can ask him about things that have nothing to do with music— timeline issues, vendor suggestions, tricky wedding-day logistics—and he’ll give you honest, experienced advice because he truly cares about the big picture, not just his part in it. On the day itself, Dan wasn’t just playing music. He was quietly orchestrating the energy of the room. He made sure our guests were always engaged, that the dance floor was never empty, and that the flow of the night matched our personalities. Guests couldn’t stop talking about how perfectly the music blended our two cultures and one friend was literally Shazamming song after song because every single track was that good. Also, if you’re debating about a photo booth, DO IT and book it through Dan. The quality was insane. Everyone loves a photo booth, but these were hands-down the best photo booth shots we’ve ever seen at a wedding. Other agree.Crisp, vibrant, and so much fun—our guests are still raving about them. Dan sends you all the photos taken throughout the night and my husband and I keep going through them. It’s so fun to see our guests having a great time. Dan wasn’t just our DJ. He was our advocate, our cheerleader, and our behind-the-scenes hero. If I could give him 100,000 stars, I would. “Marcus DJ'd our wedding this past weekend and he was the best DJ we could ask for! We had an initial consultation with him to align on what we're generally looking for, completed a "worksheet" with all the music and MCing details and any specific songs/playlists we wanted played, and then a final meeting to review the day from top to bottom. Marcus was communicative and easy to reach with any questions during this time. On the day of the wedding, he came several hours ahead of time to set up and prepare. During the wedding, Marcus played all the music from guest arrival to reception exactly how we envisioned, and MC'd all of the entrances, first dances, guest photos, etc. exactly on time and without too much fluff, which is what we wanted. Later, he played a great set of 2010s-2020s EDM and hype guest favorites that got the dance floor lit, and with great mixing and transitions too. Highly recommend Marcus if you're looking for a wedding DJ who's very skilled/experienced and just really knows music (not your average wedding DJ)!”

“Ana & Jimmy were in a different league from the moment we met them. On our first Zoom, they listened to everything I said about our taste and our vibe… and then gently told me that our beloved saxophonist idea didn’t match anything we had described. They recommended a guitarist instead— and thank goodness, because they were absolutely right. Their planning process was incredibly thoughtful.. and for me, hilarious. Their music surgery? Thorough and genius, and apparently visible to them before you hit submit. Which meant they saw me type things like “Haed pass,” “No thank you,” and “What even is that??” Live. Thankfully, they have incredible senses of humor. They checked in multiple times, did a full site visit, and showed up with a sound team who stayed all night to make sure everything was flawless. They even coordinated our private outdoor first dance with our violinist while sending the music inside to guests — seamlessly. But the reception is where they catapulted into untouchable territory. They don’t just sing and DJ… they perform. Including: * the full, committed N’SYNC “Bye Bye Bye” choreography * A Blink - 182 elder millennial scream-along that transported us back to 2003 * Coming onto the dance floor to hype everyone * Interacting with guests like they’ve known us forever. I don’t dance— and I was on that dance floor all night. Our guests are still texting us about how unreal the band was and we’ve heard “best wedding I’ve ever been to” on multiple occasions. “Alex was a total hit at our wedding! We had some specific songs we wanted to play - and he did - but we mostly trusted him and had a saying leading up to the wedding: "let Alex cook." And cook he did. A good dance floor was important to us (my wife LOVES to dance) and he couldn't have delivered a better dance floor vibe. Alex is a total pro from start to finish but doesn't have that generic, sometimes cheesy "wedding DJ" vibe. He picked up on our taste and played exactly what we had in mind. We also booked a saxophonist through Alex and WOW was that a hit. The sax player (also named Alex) was a high energy, high vibes addition. Totally recommend asking AE about that.”

“The Love Revival Orchestra was truly an enormous highlight of our wedding day! The band played for our cocktail hour with a talented Jazz Trio, a parade to get our guests into the reception (so cool and lots of kudos from the guests!!), and an outstanding reception performance. There was not one moment that the dance floor was empty and they truly brought the best energy and talent. Music was one of our biggest priorities for the wedding day and our expectations were blown away. David was very collaborative, helping us to plan the perfect set list and answering all of our questions leading up to the day. We were also so appreciative that the band was able to not only learn but perform incredible renditions of our first dance song, and themes from Vanderpump and Star Wars (truly amazing live!).
