“Purslane was a dream to work with, and we could not have imagined a more perfect caterer for our wedding. The food was to die for. So many of our guests told us it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding—and we agree! Choosing all the food was so fun and easy, and our event manager at Purslane walked us through all our options, pointing out favorites and making accommodations to let us choose something off the standard family-style menu as well (highly recommend the short ribs with polenta!). We also had some dietary restrictions—one we were made aware of just two weeks before the wedding—and they ensured all guests had delicious options to meet all restrictions. All communication for our venue was done through Purslane too, and they helped us arrange all the rentals, create the run of show, and ensure the night ran along as planned, which it did! They went above and beyond every step of the way. They helped us figure out how to move our cocktail hour to a new space within the venue when a new exhibit went up a few weeks before our wedding that wasn't very well suited to a wedding environment. The waitstaff was so kind and made sure we always had a drink in hand, had our coats ready for us at the end of the night, and even set aside a plate of appetizers for us to be sure we could both greet all our guests and eat all our apps. Overall 10/10, we would highly recommend booking Purslane for a truly seamless night with insanely delicious food.”

“Working with Pheasant was the best decision we could have made for our wedding!!! Yes, it sounds cliché, but it is true. The title of this post is not even a joke; friends and family will-not-stop-talking-about-how-good-the-food-was-at-the-wedding...I'm like...hello? What about me, the bride? Our hilarious and heartfelt vows? The live band? Or even our surprise choreographed dance? Nope!! The food was the **true highlight** of the day/night. Although I may sound mad about it, I am not because it was absolutely delicious, stunning, fresh, and extremely memorable. The appetizers at cocktail hour, the raw bar, and the family style dinner was 10/10, 5 stars, 100%. Most brides and grooms don't even eat at their wedding because they are mingling...but, we had seconds and thirds with extra romesco sauce!!!! Working with Pheasant was hands down the easiest part of the whole wedding. Lola and Cat were incredibly quick to respond to emails, they went along with our requests and offered incredible suggestions. On top of all of that, they handled the rentals, collaborated with our florist and made the table setting romantic, dreamy, and very us 3 They also emotionally supported my decision when I switched event coordinators somewhat late in the game and they helped me find a better match. Lola and Cat were present and professional throughout our time together and then disappeared like fairy godmothers on the special day. They were there, because I vividly remember demanding a hug, but once the event started, they were working their magic on the backend and making sure we had the wedding of our dreams. I do not have a single complaint and I aim to be as honest as possible when writing reviews because it is what helped me make my decision when I was hiring vendors. Do yourself a favor, and hire Pheasant to cater your wedding and you and your guests can thank me later.”

“As a classically trained chef, I hope my review of La Mila inspires anyone doing their “homework” to earn an A — for themselves, especially their guests. I’ve been to many weddings, and the food served is often an edible afterthought. How many times, when leaving a wedding, were you asked, “What did you think about the food?” — and you replied with shrugged shoulders, “Eh, it was okay.” That is not the case with La Mila. A huge shoutout and thank you to Sandy, who was able to pull together a phenomenal menu all in a very timely timeline. Sandy was honest, upfront, and available around our busy work schedule. The day before and the day of, Sandy was there to help with setup — from the big asks, like helping move furniture, to the small tasks—like lighting lanterns and ensuring no glass of champagne for our toast was served empty! Given our wedding took place at our home, we thoroughly appreciated Sandy staying late to clean the kitchen, empty overflowing garbage, and make sure our home was not a war zone when we woke up the next morning! Elie’s execution of our menu was stellar. As a classically trained chef, I was thoroughly impressed by the well-run machine Elie could create within our garage, the makeshift kitchen for the event. It rained on our wedding day, and we were blessed with a beautiful, vivid rainbow—right before dinner service. This blessing brought all our guests outside for 30 minutes—right before dinner. A major wrench in the moment-by-moment timeline. I know how this, for many chefs, can be a disruptive, unexpected delay—but Elie did not miss a beat. All of our guests raved about the food—notably friends who I graduated with from the Culinary Institute of America. One thing I learned in culinary school is that you “eat with your eyes first.” Simply put, Heidi’s presentation skills are on point! Her attention to detail in creating beautiful food displays, notably for our cocktail hour, showed the care, thought and love we wanted our guests to feel. Sandy, Elie, and Heidi may be the stars of La Mila’s show—but the success of our wedding would not have been possible without their hard-working and friendly staff. One of the elements that sold us on choosing La Mila, was their well-stocked arsenal of kitchen equipment they brought on site. (Most caterers require you rent equipment separately, which is not only more expensive, but introduces a whole new dimension of moving parts.) La Mila was also able to include chinaware, silverware, and the majority of our glassware! They even included soft drinks, water, condiments, cocktail napkins, etc. — all of this, and they still came in under what we were quoted by other caterers. Thank you, Sandy, Elie, Heidi, and the entire La Mila Catering & Events team, for making our wedding day what it was. And Pinch was able to do this in a way that felt authentic to us and created a menu that was balanced and complementary (pani puri and Biryani Arancini for example) - Innovative: Pinch's pop-ups during cocktail hour and dessert are very unique and were naturally a point of conversation for our guests. The crispy potato sandwiches served hanging down from an umbrella and the compressed fruit cocktails that replicated the US Open's Honey Deuce went beyond what we thought we could expect for the food at our wedding - Attention to detail: Pinch's service is quite a bit better than what we've experienced from caterers at other weddings. “Arlethea was super sweet and accommodating. My schedule was hectic and it was difficult for me to lock in a tasting date and time. She boxed the food up and dropped it off right to our home! Above and beyond expectations. The food was delicious. All the wedding guests loved the food, but specifically the appetizers. We chose the mini tacos, cheeseburger egg rolls, and spinach cheese puffs. My favorite item was the salmon entree. There was one slight miscommunication about us wanting a cupcake tower. She did not bring one, but once again Arlethea went above and beyond and got us cupcakes the day of the wedding! I highly recommend their services for any and all catering events! Thank you for making our special day seamless and stress free.”
