Hiring Herbert Holler was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our vision was a longer reception to leave plenty of room for dancing, being together, having fun and really wanted it to be a great time for everyone there, for all ages. HH had everyone dancing at the same time- kids, teenagers, or friends, our parents' friends, and my 89 year old grandmother. He was spot on in reading the room- which wasn't the most straight forward - I asked him to sprinkle some Arabic music in so my Lebanese family could come together over familiar music- all I did was provide him a couple of titles and he ran with the rest. Didn't overdo it, and everybody joined in. It was a dream. HH was professional the whole way through and didn't require tons of collab, and was flexible and quickly responsive. My advice: Hire HH.

he Hook Club is an amazing band that we wholeheartedly recommend. They performed at my daughter's wedding at the Pleasantdale Chateau on 3/27/22 and everyone loved them. Dan is a pleasure to work with and made sure the wedding went exactly as planned. The band's vocals are incredible - especially Brianna and LiMarco. The sound of the 10 piece band filled the ballroom of 250 people and the volume was appropriately loud without being deafening. So many of my guests asked for the band's contact information - they are that impressive. If I could give them 10 stars I would- they are the best!!!

Aria Melody

5.0

New York, NY
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,800

As homegrown, native NYC-based wedding DJs, we allow the music to speak for itself in a way that is organic and authentic. We keep things simple and straightforward so you can focus on the most important part of it all — marrying your partner, soulmate and best friend. What you won’t get? A stereotypical, cheesy DJ stealing the spotlight and breaking up the music with bad jokes and unnecessary interruptions. You deserve better. Expect a personal and individualized celebration with great music, precise attention to detail and a fun-filled dance party — all based on 15 years of wedding experience.

My husband and I were recently married in CT. Joe did both our ceremony and reception music. Joe was the best DJ we could have asked for! He played all of our "must play" songs and mixed them well with other hits. I didn't leave the dance floor! Our guests are still talking about the great music. Leading up to our wedding, Joe had excellent communication and was easy to work with. Highly recommend!

Kenny Fiesta

New York, NY
  • DJ
  • Starts at $1,500

My goal for your event is straightforward: to create a musical atmosphere your guests will enjoy, in a tasteful way to conserve your excellent reputation. I look to do this by curating my family-friendly music library with all genres, removing instances or entire songs with profanity, vulgar descriptions, and offensive lyrics. I want you and your guests to feel comfortable for the entirety of the event, starting with the mood music that represents your style, whether you've chosen every song or have a few key picks you want me to build a playlist around.

45 Riots

5.0

New York, NY
  • Band or Ensemble

www.45riots.com 45 Riots is a modern collective of first-call performing, recording, and touring musicians, operating with resolute focus, attention-to-detail, veteran experience, and artistic verve. Live music entertainment!

To put it simply, you have to hire 45 Riots. It is not an exaggeration to say that every person at my wedding came up to my parents, my husband or I to say this was the best wedding band they'd ever seen. I'm in the Broadway community, and my husband's father is a professional musician, so that's high praise coming from people who know music! From start to finish, they were great about communication and getting to know our tastes. At the wedding, every song was a hit and the dance floor was packed. They were great about reading the room and handling all our formalities, including ceremony music and cocktail hour. Additionally, they had no problem learning songs that we wanted that weren't on their Song List. My husband's father is in a well-known rock band and 45 Riots learned a 7-minute long hit song of theirs to play with my father-in-law & brother-in-law. To say that performance was epic is an understatement. They completely rose to the occasion and our guests were floored. I can't recommend 45 Riots enough! Thanks for everything, guys!

What music packages are available for weddings in New York City?

Whether you want a string quartet to serenade your ceremony, a 12-piece band, or a DJ to drop beats until dawn, there's a package for every style and budget in New York City. The music package will vary depending on the group, number of performers, hours played, and more, so make sure to review all of the details in advance to ensure the soundtrack to your wedding plays without a hitch.

How do we coordinate our wedding timeline with the band or DJ in New York City?

Communication is key. Your band or DJ should be in sync with your wedding day schedule, hitting the right notes at the right moments. Discuss your timeline with them beforehand, and they'll make sure they play the right notes at exactly the right time - whether it’s your walk down the aisle or your favorite bangers at the end of the night.

Are there any noise restrictions for wedding venues in New York, NY that could affect music?

Now, that’s a savvy question! In a city that never sleeps, some venues do still have bedtime rules. Fear not, because your wedding planner or venue contacts will be clued in on any noise ordinances. They’ll make sure the party's volume matches the vibe—without the need for noise-canceling headphones.

What equipment do bands and DJs in NYC provide, and what do we need to provide?

Most bands and DJs come loaded with their mixers, mics, and maybe some flashy lights. But it's a good idea to check if your venue is set up for sound or if it's BYOS—bring your own speakers. You might need to rent some equipment if you’re planning a party in a raw or less traditional event space.
