Natalie was the artist assigned to me and met me at the hotel where the event was at to do my hair and makeup. She was on time and was invited into my room. It took her about 10 minutes to set up and she started on my hair and finished with my makeup. Natalie listed to how I wanted my makeup/hair and delivered! Every single person we interacted with was incredible, starting with Ja’el the owner, who was amazing from start to finish. She is warm, organized, thoughtful, and we felt see was genuinely invested in us. From our first conversation, we knew we were in great hands. Our day-of coordinators, Liz and Blair, were absolute stars. They just got us. Throughout the planning process, they provided steady guidance, answered every question, and—when we had concerns about potential issues with other vendors—gave us thoughtful, grounded advice and real encouragement. As we approached the wedding, Liz and Blair stepped in to manage the scheduling of the countless moving parts of our wedding day. They helped address issues before they became problems, and resolved most problems before they became crises. Their communication and stress management were unparalleled. The level of support and preparation during the pre-wedding stages was above and beyond what we ever expected. Our families and friends are still raving about how fantastic they were on the day-of. We also decided to add on content creation with Teri late in the process, and we are SO glad we did. She was amazing—funny, kind, unobtrusive, and everywhere at once without ever feeling like a camera was in our faces. A couple of days after the wedding, we received our raw video dump, and it is worth every single penny. I’ve spent hours reliving the day through all the behind-the-scenes moments she captured with our guests, family, and wedding party. She didn’t miss a thing. We can’t wait to see the short-form content she creates, but honestly, the raw footage alone already exceeded our hopes. We are genuinely obsessed with this team. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. “After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). Nina seamlessly handled all the chaotic moments and pre-ceremony stress of the very emotional bride (me) in stride! With very little direction she navigated all aspects of a wedding day with absolute poise and grace. I cannot thank her enough for taking on such leadership and just GETTING IT DONE! “Let me start with District Winery is a fabulous wedding venue! For starters, it is gorgeous inside and out with a besutiful waterfront location. That alone wooed us, but the real wooing came from Latoria, the DW sales manager, who was fantastic to work with. She was incredibly patient answering all of our many questions before we signed the contract and afterwards letting us know the next steps. Another fantastic aspect of weddings at DW is that they assign you an event manager - and now this is where the big, huge thanks come into play. Samantha was absolutely incredible to work with! She was our event manager and left no detail unaccounted for. From our first email exchange to our final walkthrough and then the final, final details, she answered every question and ensured everything was set and ready to go. She is very detail oriented and the spreadsheet she gave us to complete with all of our decor, dietary restrictions, etc. ensured fantastic organization and that everyone was on the same page. Day-of, I could not believe how perfectly everything turned out with our decor, flowers, and food. The food at DW is fantastic - if you haven’t been yet for a visit - go! Everyone knows that you don’t go to a wedding and expect great food and wine, but that is not the case here at DW. After our unbelievable tasting night (which was just insanely awesome), we had to narrow down our favorites which was hard to do!One of my favorite aspects of a wedding is cocktail hour and they delighted with the passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations (including a cheese tower), and bar! Also, as my husband and I keep saying- the best money we spent was on the gorgeous and fun champagne tower! Obviously, I can’t say enough great things about our wedding at District Winery. If we could do it all over again, we would and we wouldn’t change a thing! Huge thanks to Samantha and District Winery for making our dream day come true!”

“TLDR: I am VERY PARTICULAR about photos. Despite not having any knowledge in photography, I have a particular style that I like and love it when the photographer takes charge because I am not creative. Xiao and her assistant are exactly that team, and if you like light, airy, wispy-like photos, look no further. My husband and I booked Just a Present @FilmbyXiao for a couples photoshoot in DC during cherry blossom season and couldn't have been happier with our choice. We had an extremely disappointing experience with another photographer during cherry blossom season the year before we met Xiao, and the photos from last year were just not up to my standards. That photographer suggested a time that was convenient for her (despite knowing that mass crowds form in the afternoon-evening, selected a date when the cherry blossoms were gone and when students had their field trips, didn't have a whole lot of ideas for posing, and photo quality was subpar). Not wanting to miss cherry blossom season again, I was pretty desperate to find a photographer who could capture what I wanted since this is our last year in DC. I looked at Xiao's work on instagram by chance and felt like she was a good fit, but I didn't realize how great of a photographer she was until I met her in person. From the start, early in the morning, she and her assistant took charge when it came to posing, suggesting angles and compositions that made our photos look incredible. I have zero creativity, so I really appreciated it when Xiao took charge of helping us with poses. Her assistant was also very sweet and brought the equipment and props. The quality of their work is outstanding, and honestly, the photos turned out so much better than I expected. We'd absolutely recommend them to any couple looking for a photographer who knows their craft and cares about getting it right.”

From start to finish, his communication was excellent—clear, responsive, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process. Our venue had the ceremony site, cocktail hour, and reception all in three separate areas, and DJ Neal was more than accommodating with his setup. Everything transitioned seamlessly and without any stress for us. He truly went above and beyond with the lighting setup as well. It completely transformed the space and looked incredible—it added so much to the overall atmosphere of the reception and the pricing was very inexpensive. Compared to other DJs we considered, his package options were incredibly well-priced for the level of service and quality he delivered. “Wow can’t say enough amazing things about this photographer, he truly was one of the highlights of our wedding. Don’t walk to book him run! He was super focused, detail orientated, bilingual, fun and laid back. He captured so many incredible behind the scene moments and my family kept saying we didn’t even see him take that picture. We were nervous about not knowing how to pose. He made us so comfortable and had amazing poses. He captured intimate moments of our families reactions during the ceremony, speeches and partying. “As soon as we arrived, we were so glad that we had chosen Milton Ridge and knew that we had made the right choice. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were with us through every step of our wedding day with lots of support and smiles. The cottage for getting ready is very cute, the chapel is beautiful, and the reception hall is great as well. They have many services included in their various wedding packages like catering, DJ, photographer, and cake. They also have outside vendors that they work with frequently, such as hair and make-up and a florist, who are all wonderful. They are inclusive, and they are supportive of LGBT weddings. My now wife and I are part of the LGBT community, and we were treated very well by the entire team. We were able to have our wedding exactly how we wanted, and they worked with us on every detail. On the day, they had the entire day scheduled and kept us on track, which is actually so necessary and helpful on a day when you're trying to do so many things. She had such a quick response time, usually within a day, or a couple hours, and sometimes even sooner! Her attention to detail in making my timeline was also amazing and I felt that we were able to have the whole day planned to the dot before the big day. On the wedding day, she made sure everything ran so smoothly and we were not stressed out at all! We had some small hiccups with the layouts that our venue had set up, but a quick word from Lissa had them fixing the issue. She's the perfect amount of assertiveness, professionalism, and friendliness with everyone, including the guests. The largest thing that stood out to us was how much all of our other vendors loved Lissa and working with her, and we could see it throughout the day. Our venue had restrictions such as a short setup window, but Lissa communicated with them and navigated the situation very well to make everything go smoothly. “Grace was a pleasure to work with during the wedding planning process. She was timely in her responses and upfront with pricing. On the day of the wedding, it felt like we were herding cats, but she remained professional and efficient. Even though we were running behind schedule with getting dressed, she managed to squeeze in a few dress shots and some first look photos. Grace remained patient even as some of our friends and family showed up late for photos! As we moved between locations, she made sure I was holding my dress in a way so that I wouldn’t fall on my face. She also helped my MOH bustle my dress after the ceremony (again, so I wouldn’t fall on my face). Grace was always cognizant of the lighting on location, and how it would affect photos. Her assistant, Joey, was lovely and accommodating as well. All in all, a wonderful experience!”

“Cheryl with Sweet Greene Bakery was helpful from beginning to end. She guided us through tasting samples and consultation calls with so much care, always staying considerate of our needs, making customizations, and advising us exactly where necessary. While our Red Velvet cake was absolutely delicious on the inside, and she added extra cookies to the cake after our follow-up consultation. We learned a tough lesson about deep-colored frosting. Cheryl warned us about the impacts of using heavy dye to achieve a burgundy exterior (as we wanted to avoid fondant), and we should have listened! The exterior ended up with a bit of a chemical taste and stained everything it touched. Take our advice: Cheryl knows her stuff! If she makes a suggestion on color or texture, trust her expertise—you’ll be in great hands. Aside from our own misunderstanding, the service and cake quality were wonderful.”
