She’s so attentive and really tailors the look to the person. The moms at my wedding refused to book makeup. They insisted a makeup artist would make them look too overdone. After doing mine and my girls’ makeup, all the moms asked to be squeezed in. Not only did Lilly add 3 extra faces AT THE LAST MINUTE but she also took the time to ask them questions about what they liked/didn’t like to be sure to accommodate their preferences. Lilly has a wide range - from bold to natural. She did a fantastic job at both weddings and just brought such a great vibe. I highly highly recommend her!!”

“After friends shared a photo of my then fiance and me at their own wedding, we hired the photographer who took it. This was Nina! That one photo inspired us to review the gallery of their entire wedding and then her portfolio and we were blown away. 7 months later our own wedding day arrived. My husband and I are the type of people who are wildly present and constantly forget to take photographs of our life together. We knew we wanted to capture this day without the photography becoming a chore or hindering our ability to do what we do best and enjoy our time. Nina was able to provide just that and was incredible (as was the second photographer she worked with for our big day). “Let me start with District Winery is a fabulous wedding venue! For starters, it is gorgeous inside and out with a besutiful waterfront location. That alone wooed us, but the real wooing came from Latoria, the DW sales manager, who was fantastic to work with. She was incredibly patient answering all of our many questions before we signed the contract and afterwards letting us know the next steps. Another fantastic aspect of weddings at DW is that they assign you an event manager - and now this is where the big, huge thanks come into play. Samantha was absolutely incredible to work with! She was our event manager and left no detail unaccounted for. From our first email exchange to our final walkthrough and then the final, final details, she answered every question and ensured everything was set and ready to go. She is very detail oriented and the spreadsheet she gave us to complete with all of our decor, dietary restrictions, etc. ensured fantastic organization and that everyone was on the same page. Day-of, I could not believe how perfectly everything turned out with our decor, flowers, and food. The food at DW is fantastic - if you haven’t been yet for a visit - go! Everyone knows that you don’t go to a wedding and expect great food and wine, but that is not the case here at DW. After our unbelievable tasting night (which was just insanely awesome), we had to narrow down our favorites which was hard to do!One of my favorite aspects of a wedding is cocktail hour and they delighted with the passed hors d’oeuvres, food stations (including a cheese tower), and bar! Also, as my husband and I keep saying- the best money we spent was on the gorgeous and fun champagne tower! Obviously, I can’t say enough great things about our wedding at District Winery. If we could do it all over again, we would and we wouldn’t change a thing! Huge thanks to Samantha and District Winery for making our dream day come true!”

“TLDR: I am VERY PARTICULAR about photos. Despite not having any knowledge in photography, I have a particular style that I like and love it when the photographer takes charge because I am not creative. Xiao and her assistant are exactly that team, and if you like light, airy, wispy-like photos, look no further. My husband and I booked Just a Present @FilmbyXiao for a couples photoshoot in DC during cherry blossom season and couldn't have been happier with our choice. We had an extremely disappointing experience with another photographer during cherry blossom season the year before we met Xiao, and the photos from last year were just not up to my standards. That photographer suggested a time that was convenient for her (despite knowing that mass crowds form in the afternoon-evening, selected a date when the cherry blossoms were gone and when students had their field trips, didn't have a whole lot of ideas for posing, and photo quality was subpar). Not wanting to miss cherry blossom season again, I was pretty desperate to find a photographer who could capture what I wanted since this is our last year in DC. I looked at Xiao's work on instagram by chance and felt like she was a good fit, but I didn't realize how great of a photographer she was until I met her in person. From the start, early in the morning, she and her assistant took charge when it came to posing, suggesting angles and compositions that made our photos look incredible. I have zero creativity, so I really appreciated it when Xiao took charge of helping us with poses. Her assistant was also very sweet and brought the equipment and props. The quality of their work is outstanding, and honestly, the photos turned out so much better than I expected. We'd absolutely recommend them to any couple looking for a photographer who knows their craft and cares about getting it right.”

“DJ Neal was an amazing choice for our recent wedding at the Rust Manor House in Leesburg, VA. From the beginning of the wedding process, DJ Neal was friendly, communicative, and thoughtful. He took into consideration some of our favorite artists and curated a wonderful playlist for our wedding day (i.e., ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception). We had quite a unique request being “early 2000s nostalgia” for the reception and he delivered! During couples portraits before the ceremony, I remember telling people how much I enjoyed the music he was playing. Additionally, during our reception in the outdoor tent, everyone was out of their seat and on the dance floor. As someone who considers themselves a homebody, he really brought me and my (now) husband out of our shells and created such a fun energy. The transitions between songs were so smooth and well executed. Additionally, he was a wonderful and well-spoken MC for our event. We really appreciated him for being part of our big day!
