“There are very few people you meet during wedding planning who you know you’ll genuinely miss when it’s over. Alexandra is one of them.
We had a pretty unconventional starting point. My husband Joel and I had already been together for 17 years and had a teenager before we decided to get married, so this was never going to be a traditional wedding. We got married on a Tuesday in Santa Barbara, with guests traveling from as far away as Europe and as close as Los Angeles, and everywhere in between. Most came from New York City, where we live. We wanted the wedding to feel intimate, chic, warm, personal, and completely un-fussy, and Alexandra understood that from the beginning.
Planning from NYC while getting married across the country was no small undertaking. We even had to change both our restaurant and after-party venue at the last minute (!!!). Somehow, Alexandra handled every curveball with complete calm. She always seemed to have a solution before we even had time to worry about the problem.
From our very first conversations, Alexandra just got us. Her background as a DA shows in her curiosity and incredible attention to detail. We had a lot of ideas, opinions, and probably a fair amount of chaos. She never made us feel like we were asking for too much or doing things the “wrong” way. She listened and turned all of our random thoughts and little details into a wedding that felt completely and unmistakably like us.
She has incredible taste and an amazing eye, but what I loved most was that she never made the wedding about her vision. She made it about ours. She understood that we wanted intimate over grand, chic over fussy, and beautiful without feeling overly formal or staged. Every detail felt intentional, but nothing felt forced.
She was also an absolute rock throughout the planning process: organized, responsive, thoughtful, patient, creative, and calm. She anticipated things we hadn't even thought about and made decisions feel easy when they could have been overwhelming. She understood not just what we wanted the wedding to look like, but what we wanted it to FEEL like.
On our wedding day, she was simply incredible. She officiated our ceremony (!!) and completely nailed it with personal details, warmth, and grace. For the entire day and into the night, we got to be completely present with the people we love because Alexandra and her team member, Paulina (also a superstar!), were taking care of everything around us. They quietly managed an enormous number of moving pieces and somehow made the day feel effortless. We got to laugh, dance, eat, hug our friends and family, and actually experience our wedding instead of worrying about it.
But honestly, what I will remember most is how much she cared. She cared about the little things that mattered to us, our family, our guests, and making the day feel like OUR wedding rather than just a beautiful event.
Our wedding was everything we hoped it would be and more. Our guests are still talking about it, and so much of what made it special was Alexandra. I feel incredibly lucky that we found her, and even luckier that we got to know her along the way.
If you are considering working with A La Modon Events, do not even think twice. You will get an incredibly talented planner with impeccable taste, but you will also get someone who genuinely cares about you and your event. And that makes ALL the difference!”
