She is also a Wedding MBA: Certified Event Planner and Designer. DO NOT BOOK. Our wedding itself was absolutely wonderful, but Erica/Rustic Roots and Events was by far the most stressful and disappointing part of the experience. We hired Erica as our wedding planner. Our contract explicitly stated that the planner would be present on the day of our wedding. Erica did not show up, and she never told us she wasn’t coming. We found out THE MORNING OF OUR WEDDING when a woman named Kathy, whom we had never met or spoken to, called my maid of honor asking how the tables were supposed to be set up. When we asked where Erica was, Kathy explained that Erica was “the planner” and she was the “day-of coordinator.” This distinction had never once been communicated to us, and our contract specifically stated that the planner would be present. Then Kathy MISSED OUR ACTUAL CEREMONY. A wedding guest had to step in and run our music while I, THE BRIDE, had to cue everyone when to walk down the aisle. Kathy arrived after the processional had already started. We didn’t even have a traditional reception, just a ceremony followed by a wedding dinner. Despite this, Kathy left early and handed the event off to ANOTHER coordinator I had never met, spoken to, or been told about. I still don’t know her name. The cake situation was particularly upsetting because this was one of my biggest logistical concerns and something I discussed with Erica multiple times. Our cake needed to be cut and transported a decent distance to the dinner table, so I repeatedly confirmed with Erica that this would be handled. She assured me numerous times that it was taken care of and that I did not need to continue worrying about it. Her exact words were, “Don’t worry about that at all. We are there to handle and take care of all that.” It was not handled. The coordinator they left at the venue didn’t know there was a cake, didn’t know how to cut it, and didn’t know how to get it to the table. She ultimately asked the venue owner to do it because she had never cut a wedding cake before. This was EXACTLY what I had spent time discussing with Erica beforehand so I wouldn’t have to worry about it on my wedding day. Communication leading up to the wedding was equally disappointing. Erica had virtually no communication with me until the week of the wedding. I specifically hired a planner because I knew work would be extremely busy leading up to our wedding and trusted that she was working behind the scenes. I later learned she didn’t begin contacting vendors until the day before the wedding, and our dinner venue owner never heard from her at all. We were also charged a travel fee, despite Erica never attending our wedding. I still don’t understand what we paid that fee for. I have retained our contract and screenshots of the company’s website and Instagram describing the services we purchased, including that the planner would be present. I am now disputing the charge with my credit card company because what we received was not the service we contracted and paid for. After the wedding, I also discovered Erica had blocked me on Instagram and Facebook. I had not spoken to her since the morning of our wedding, when I reached out trying to understand why she wasn’t there. I feel completely misled by this experience and would absolutely not recommend Rustic Roots and Events. Based on our experience, we genuinely would have been better off without a planner or coordinator at all. DO NOT BOOK.

Erica is the best of the best!!
As a photographer, I cannot emphasize enough how incredibly valuable it is to work alongside a planner who not only cares deeply for their clients, but also genuinely supports and advocates for the entire vendor team. Erica embodies that in every sense. From the moment we connected leading up to the wedding day, her communication was incredibly thoughtful, detailed, and organized. She made sure every vendor felt prepared and aligned, which sets the tone for a seamless and successful event. On the wedding day, she went above and beyond in every way. She was constantly checking in not only on the couple, but on each vendor as well, making sure everyone had what they needed and that the day was flowing smoothly. That level of awareness and intentionality is rare, and it makes such a difference. Because of Erica, I was able to fully focus on serving the couple and doing my job well, knowing everything else was being handled with care and excellence. From a vendor-to-vendor perspective, working with Erica is truly such a gift. She creates an environment that is calm, collaborative, and supportive, which ultimately leads to a better experience for everyone involved, especially the couple. Beyond her professionalism, she is simply a joy to be around. She brings such a genuine, kind presence and clearly has a heart for serving her couples in the best way possible! I am incredibly grateful that I had the opportunity to work alongside Erica. It was an absolute honor, and I would recommend her a thousand times over!!
