Our experience with Wedgewood was unbelievably fabulous. I genuinely didn’t think that any kind of event planning could be so streamlined and attentive. My now-husband and I aren’t exactly flush with free time. Wedgewood worked with our schedule, which was invaluable. The venue, planning, and the day-of team truly made my dreams come true. The venue: my husband and I are both from Colorado & it was a perfect opportunity to provide our guests with a slice of Colorado. Mountainview Ranch was about an hour away from our home outside of Denver, tucked into the mountains far enough to offer stunning geological landscapes and forests and close enough to ensure no one gets lost or carsick on their way. We chose the lakeview location, as it offered the suite of cabins for our guests. Lakeview itself is gorgeous. The bridal & groom suites are roomy & comfortable, the ceremony space is beyond perfect, and the big hall and expansive decks offer stunning views. We went with all of their included/recommended vendors, and all crushed it! Coordination: we toured the venue with Alex, who was awesome. She answered all our (many) questions and sat down with us to discuss what pricing and budgeting looks like. Obviously, as an all-inclusive venue, it’s not an extreme-budget option, but the package cost compared to my estimation of a non-inclusive/DIY version of the same wedding was VASTLY more affordable AND included all the legwork done by experienced professionals. There were 3 main meetings, 6 months, 6 weeks, & ten days out. All were productive and painless. Our coordinator, Caryn, was a true blessing. Patient, funny, detail-oriented, & kind: we never felt rushed or pressured with her. She was on top of everything! I spent my wedding prep time doing fun little DIYs instead of needing to coordinate. The Day-Of: Another shout-out to Caryn, who gracefully guided our listening-challenged family through every step of the process, herded the wedding party to where we needed to be, and answered questions for me. She also ensured my husband and I remained fed and watered, which was vital! The ceremony was beautifully managed. Caryn delivered us food in the bridal suite after the ceremony, and even managed to snap a beautiful photo of our dip kiss, print it, and put it framed on our sweetheart table before we sat down for dinner. A magical woman, truly. Our banquet team also killed it: our captain Mikayla ensured the buffet went off without a hitch. Mikayla also carefully packed us each a meal, complete with appetizers & dessert, which we treasured the day after the wedding when we got home to an empty fridge. The rest of the banquet team, Christy, Tyler, Callie, Maddie, and Nate truly lit up our service with their smiles and assistance. They were all SO helpful, kind, and enthusiastic. I received several comments on how happy they were to lend a hand. Finally: a special shout out to the photobooth, which I worried might be a little over-played. People LOVED it, and it allowed guests to select how many copies they wanted printed. It was delightful. We are genuinely floored. I cannot believe it was as good as it was: it felt like a dream. I got so many compliments on the venue and the wedding and the food (and everything else!!), and so many people marveled at how seamless and fun an event it was. It was all Wedgewood! I feel like all we had to do was show up! I am absolutely patting myself on the back for choosing Wedgewood (& especially Mountainview).

We highly, highly recommend Juniper as the venue for your upcoming wedding! We first visited Juniper 3 years prior to our wedding as lodge guests and knew immediately it was where we wanted to have our wedding. We ultimately did not search for any other venues as we knew just from one visit it was the venue for us. Ashley & Alea have curated such an incredible space and it was the perfect setting for our wedding. As a lesbian couple, it also was a huge draw for us to support a queer, women owned business. We knew we wanted a smaller, intimate wedding & Juniper was the perfect setting for doing so. Their packages were very reasonable & the Meadow Ceremony space was a huge draw for where we envisioned saying I do. They also had an outstanding list of preferred vendors which significantly helped throughout the planning process. As hosts for our wedding, they were easy to work with & also made our day feel extra special! We had some very specific asks in terms of music playlists, bar choices & table scapes which they were very attentive to & accommodated. During our final walk through meeting (which they accommodated virtually since we are an out of town couple!) they were very clear on all the moving pieces for day of & prepping for our wedding Day of - Ashley & Alea were present the entire time & worked very well with all our vendors & wedding planners to make our day 100% smooth. Even with some weather rolling through shortly before our ceremony, they were on deck to adjust as needed. The entire evening went off without a hitch and ultimately the ceremony space & reception space were everything we envisioned, thanks to their execution. If you are looking for an all encompassing wedding venue that is in a gorgeous setting, welcoming environment & with genuinely kind & attentive hosts, Juniper is just the place! Our wedding was the most magical, perfect day & it not only is due to Juniper itself, but especially thanks to Ashley & Alea who we are very grateful for bringing our fairytale wedding come to be! The best part - we can come back and visit our venue anytime we want to! Photos: Kate Ivy Photography

Piney River Ranch
Rating: 5.0 (7 reviews)
Vail, CO
  • Up to 200 guests
  • Select services
  • Outdoor & indoor
  • Starts at $20,000

Piney River Ranch is open and accessible from June 21st through the last Saturday in September, and is one of Colorado’s prime wedding destinations. Beneath the Gore Range, one of Colorado’s most beautiful mountain vistas, we can accommodate up to 200 people in our wedding and event space. With two custom log pavilions, and a ceremony deck that boasts mountain views guaranteed to take your breath away, it’s no wonder couples from all over the country come here to say “I do.” The ranch is complete with six guest cabins, three glamping tents and an on-site restaurant and bar as the perfect place to entertain your guests.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Rustic yet refined style
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away
  • Both indoor and outdoor options

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists
  • Not wheelchair accessible
  • On-site parking not available
I wanted to pass on to others our experience using Piney River Ranch as the venue for the marriage of our daughter this past July. Monique and her staff at Piney River Ranch bent over backwards from beginning to the end to help us plan and execute this once-in-a-lifetime event for our daughter. They were always available to answer our questions and to adjust their services to meet our needs. In other words, they provided the kind of personalized customer service that seems to be getting harder and harder to find these days. The result was a virtually perfect wedding day (and rehearsal the prior morning) from beginning to end. Piney River Ranch is located about 12 miles north of Vail at the end of a Forest Service dirt road. While that doesn't sound very far, the road is rough. It takes about 40 minutes to drive that 12 miles from Vail. That results in some logistical challenges but it is well worth the effort and in fact enhances the feeling of arriving at someplace special. It's not until actually arriving at the ranch that the spectacular mountain backdrop rising up behind Piney Lake suddenly reveals itself, and when it does, it virtually overwhelms the senses. I'm not aware of any other venue that combines the kind of jaw-dropping scenery Piney River Ranch possesses with the convenience of having all the facilities needed for a wedding ceremony and reception. I would describe the ranch as having a sort of rustic elegance which exactly fits with the nature of its location. Our wedding was sized at approximately 150 people and the facility was able to comfortably accommodate that number. While it is theoretically possible for the ranch to accommodate up to 200 for weddings, I suspect things will start feeling crowded and the layout will get more challenging if the number gets too much above 150. The ranch has a number of cabins and glam tents along the lake that can be booked. It worked out well for us to utilize one of the cabins as a base for the groom’s party and one of the glam tents for the bride’s party. For smaller weddings, there are a couple of small rooms off of the main reception area that can be utilized for that purpose. Because of the logistical challenge the road to the ranch presents, I would recommend using vendors with previous experience there as they will understand what adjustments they need to make to their operations in order for everything to proceed smoothly. The ranch maintains a list of recommended vendors which proved helpful. In our case, we used Timberline tours for transporting wedding guests from Vail to Piney River Ranch and back. Piney River Ranch works with a local catering company, Cowboy Catering out of Gypsum and the food and service they provided were outstanding. We also utilized Event Rents out of Gypsum for glass water goblets and cloth napkins. In summary, I would highly recommend Piney River Ranch for a wedding. It will provide a unique once-in-a-lifetime type experience for all of your guests, not to mention the bride and groom. I can’t tell you how many people came up to us afterwards to tell us how much they enjoyed it and what an amazing experience it was for them. While the location does present some logistical challenges, Monique and her staff are there to guide you through every step of the process to give you the end result you are looking for.

Our wedding at Granby Ranch was a dream come true. The venue is simply gorgeous with its picturesque mountain views and quaint, nature-filled setting. Jennifer and her team were so responsive, thoughtful, and quick in all of our communications leading up to the big day. We felt they really listened to what we envisioned for our wedding and worked hard to make it happen. Jennifer hosted a private tasting for us to sample catering options, which was above and beyond. We collaborated to create a custom bar package that gave our guests plenty of drink varieties to enjoy. On the wedding day, Jennifer and staff flawlessly executed everything we had planned together. From the ceremony overlooking the mountains to the reception in the beautiful lodge, it was magical. If you want a wedding with nature at the very center of the day, look no further than Granby Ranch. Their team and venue are top notch.

Snow Mountain Ranch was the best venue for our wedding. We reserved a family reunion cabin for our family to stay on-site all weekend, while our friends booked rooms at the lodges, and everyone was able to participate in summer camp activities. A highlight was the tubing hill and the waterfall hike! We also reserved the Mountain Air Cookout Shelter for the reception, and we were able to choose our own caterers. We opted for a pizza truck and a paella chef, and they were a big hit! The shelter was perfectly rustic and had a mountain vibe with excellent views, and SMR provided lawn games outside during our cocktail hour. We were also happy that we could bring our dogs to the reception, and they had a fun time too. There was also a fire pit at the reception site, so we lit a campfire when it got cold after dark. SMR also put us in touch with a local bartender and DJ, Marcie, who knew the venue well and kept the drinks flowing and the dance floor packed all night. The event coordinator, Stephanie, was very communicative throughout the planning process, and I think that everything went perfectly!

Venue considerations

  • No built-in audiovisual options
  • Not for you if you're looking for a sleek and contemporary space
  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
The Platte River Fort is an absolutely beautiful venue! We had our wedding there and I wouldn’t have wanted to get married anywhere else. We coordinated with Cindy and she was beyond helpful helping us book and getting everything ready for our big day. The only reason I wouldn’t give this place 5 stars is all of the hidden fees that were not mentioned or included in the package we booked. Long story short, you will all of a sudden find yourself paying them hourly after you have paid for a whole package and then some. The owners and management need to be more clear on every detail. And of course as many places and events are, the alcohol and bartenders are triple the amount. It would’ve been cheaper to hire a third party bartending vendor to come serve.
