    Amazing Mountain Wedding

    We had our ceremony and reception at Lunch Rock and it felt like a private oasis for our friends and family (all coming from out of state). Working with Winter Park and Morgan was an easy and a stress free process. She answered all our questions along the way and was there the day of to assist with getting the wedding party on the gondola. The views for photos, cocktail hour, and the ceremony were incredible! The food was delicious and the venue staff was so helpful and attentive. Our guests cannot stop talking about how amazing everything was.

    Beautiful Venue but9,000 Site Fee Hard to Justify

    Overall, our wedding was truly magical, and we absolutely loved getting married at Winter Park. That said, I think future couples should understand what they are actually getting for the price they pay. Winter Park charges full wedding venue pricing, including a 9,000 site fee for Sunspot Lodge (7,500 for Lunch Rock), but you do not have access to the venue all day like you would at a traditional wedding venue. Yes, we knew this when we signed our contract, but after comparing what other venues offer, the 9,000 site fee became difficult for us to understand. This is the rental/site fee alone and does not include food or beverages, and the contract does not clearly explain what the fee specifically covers. The venue is also fully open to the public until 5 PM. Unfortunately, we had a particularly upsetting experience with public access right before our wedding. When we booked, we were told the public area would close at 4 PM. That was later changed to 5 PM without us being notified. Then, just TWO days before our wedding, we learned there would be a public mountain biking race starting around 4 PM near our wedding area, and the gondola would remain open to the public until 7 PM. Our ceremony was at 5 PM. What was especially frustrating was that we only learned about the bike race because our videographers told us. Winter Park and our wedding sales manager never informed us. Had our videographers not mentioned it, we could have arrived on our wedding day completely unaware that a public race was taking place near our ceremony. This had me in tears and extremely stressed during the week of my wedding, and I do not think any couple should have to deal with that days before their wedding. Thankfully, our wedding still turned out beautifully, and we genuinely loved the location. However, that was largely because of how much time, planning, and effort we personally put into the day. We had 160 guests, including ourselves, and spent approximately 36,000 on the site fee, food, and drinks alone. That is a significant investment, and at that price, I expected more transparency, communication, and consideration regarding our wedding and when we would actually have the space to ourselves. The service from the staff was excellent and the food was quite good, so there were definitely positives. However, couples should understand that their wedding can take a back seat to the resort's normal operations, even with a large wedding and significant spending. Post-wedding, I am very happy with how everything turned out and grateful for the beautiful setting and memories we made. However, I still do not feel the surprise bike race was handled appropriately, especially considering we were charged the full price. Winter Park is an incredible setting for a wedding, but I strongly encourage couples to carefully consider their budget and how much access and exclusivity they want. Many traditional venues offer all-day access, getting-ready space, setup time, and private use of the property for their rental fee. Paying 9,000 for a building for approximately 5.5 hours of access feels extremely steep by comparison.

Based on the information available to us, the race was expected to conclude prior to your ceremony but unfortunately ran later than anticipated. We understand how important a smooth and stress-free experience is on your wedding day and apologize for any stress this caused. We would also like to share that our site fee includes much more than the event space itself, including after-hours use of the gondola, ceremony and reception venues, guest transportation, setup time, banquet staff, tables, chairs, linens, china, flatware, glassware, lighting, and other amenities that help create a seamless mountain wedding experience.     Amazing Wedding Day and Weekend!

    We had our wedding at Lunch Rock at Winter Park and could not be happier with how everything turned out. We had the most amazing wedding day and weekend with all of our friends and family. The venue at Lunch Rock was beautiful and it felt so special to have the amazing backdrop of the mountains for our day. It was also such a fun experience taking the gondola up to the ceremony/reception. The team at Winter Park was also great to work with. Leading up to our wedding day, Morgan was really helpful and easy to communicate with. On the day of our wedding the staff at the venue were wonderful and were really friendly and helpful throughout the day. We also got so many compliments from our guests that our wedding had some of the best food they’ve ever had at weddings. Additionally, the majority of our guests were coming from out of state and having everyone able to book lodging right at the base made the whole weekend so fun and easy. Just walking around we were constantly running into our friends and family so it felt like we got to see people for more than just our wedding day. Our guests also took advantage of all the other fun activities available whether that was the alpine slide or mini-golf or mountain biking as well as the other restaurants available at the base. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner, welcome party, and farewell brunch at restaurants at the base through Winter Park which made the whole process so easy that everything was in one spot and we only needed to coordinate with one team. Winter Park was the perfect location for our wedding and it feels like everything could not have been more perfect.

    Wedding at Sunspot

    Working with the event staff at Winter Park Resort was an absolute pleasure from start to finish. They were incredibly responsive, professional, and provided detailed guidance throughout the entire planning process. The venue itself is simply gorgeous - a stunning mountain setting with ample space for the wedding celebration. The staff was excellent at execution on the day of, making the entire process seamless and ensuring our special day went off without a hitch. I had the best experience working with the event team, and I would highly recommend Winter Park Resort to any couple looking for a breathtaking mountain wedding venue.

    One of my fav venues to work at!

    As a wedding planner, I've had the opportunity to work at countless venues throughout Colorado, and Lunch Rock at Winter Park Resort is truly one of my absolute favorites! Everything about this venue is exceptional: the scenery, the staff, the service, and the overall experience for both couples and vendors. The Lunch Rock team is phenomenal. They are incredibly kind, organized, and genuinely invested in making every wedding feel seamless and so special. Their communication is clear and they go above and beyond for their couples, and they treat the vendors with just as much care and respect! And obviously can't forget how absolutely stunning the venue is! I can't recommend this venue and their team enough!! It's truly one of the best places to get married and absolutely one of my favorite teams to work with as a planner.
