Hi! My name is Sydney and I am the face, heart, and soul behind Imperfect Events! I am a queer, Filipina woman with a passion for people and community. When creating Imperfect Events, I wanted to build a business that is sustainable and community-oriented, not limitlessly scalable and insanely profitable. I decided to call it Imperfect Events because I want to resist the toxic culture of perfectionism within weddings/events (and society in general). Events are about people, and people are inherently imperfect. Leaving room for imperfection means leaving room for authenticity, for laughter, for tears, for surprises, for fun, for love. As the founder of AWE Planner, you might wonder: How did she become a planner? How many events do we coordinate each year? What inspires us about this work? For founder Jenn Greel, becoming a wedding and event planner was a natural path.
