Sound River Studios was the perfect venue for our May 2024 wedding! We had not initially considered a raw space for our wedding reception. However, after meeting with Una and discussing the seemingly infinite possibilities for the space (along with soaking in the spectacular views of NYC), we were completely sold on the venue. We are so glad we made the choice to celebrate our wedding at Sound River Studios! We took advantage of the dock at the venue and had our guests arrive to cocktail hour by boat which was a unique highlight. The dock is also a beautiful spot for photos! Una was beyond helpful in the planning process and she was always available to answer any questions we had or to brainstorm ideas with us and our vendors. We would highly recommend Sound River Studios to any couple looking to have a memorable NYC wedding!

We originally looked at more “industrial” venues because we wanted that intimate feel and didn’t love catering hall vibes. We found Renaissance as we live close by and loved it once we toured initially. They have the space of a catering hall but the experience of a single party venue. Food was great and we never felt like we were being uncharged/swindled. Even at one point we saw an error on the agreement and Lisa changed it no problem. She was a delight to work with and never made us feel like our ask was so unbelievable. Bridal suite was big enough for 10 people to get ready. Overall nothing but great things to say about Renaissance.

This wedding venue is beautiful and has a spacious parking lot which is convenient for Brooklyn. There were so many appetizers and the guests really enjoyed their food. Richie Jr. is THE BEST person you could work with (easy to talk to and knowledgeable) and trust to handle all of the details. For example, we didn’t initially like the cake with the bakery they worked with but they spoke with them to custom-make it to our taste so it was delicious. Plus my husband is gluten free and once we provided the gluten-free bread crumbs, Richie worked with the chef to make some appetizers work for him. The packages were also really reasonably priced and it came with valet parking, doorman, hostess, master of ceremonies, maitre d’, head waiter, etc. They have multiple event rooms (the second floor is also going to be renovated in 2022 but I wish they would take the old red carpeting in the Patrician room - where we were since it is outdated). In the Patrician Room, we did have placement issues with the TV and cold sparkler machines so my advice for the couple is not to have the DJ in the back corner, have them closer to the dais on the right or left hand side so the lights and other tech will be worth it and if the cold sparklers are in the back corner, we can’t take pics with it but if they are in the front they set off the fire alarms so I hope this doesn’t happen with the other event rooms in terms of layout. The ladies restroom/powder room is really nice but the men’s restroom is outdated and painted green so it could use an update. But amazing chandeliers and there is also a small garden by the side area in case people want to go out for some air. Overall, you’ll have a great wedding planning experience and it’s an affordable venue with good food.

We got married at the Picnic House in April 2024 and had a great experience! It's a beautiful space that you can do a lot with. We really appreciated both having both the flexibility of choosing amongst a variety of vendors, as well as the assurance that given their experience with the venue that they'd be easy to work with day of (which was true- we had a very smooth wedding day!). We really appreciated working with Caity, who was very responsive over email and quick to pick up the phone. Our only struggle was in acquiring our parking passes (that was really the mail's fault) and in getting some answers early on regarding external alcohol policies. And I would say be very careful in selecting your caterer, since they'll make or break your experience. But overall I would absolutely recommend the Picnic House to anyone! The price really can't be beat for what you're getting.

The package was comprehensive and way better than a lot of other venues we looked at. The value you get for this space is amazing. Our venue coordinator changed during the process but the transition to our new coordinator was completely smooth and nothing was lost. Andrea and the staff were so on top of everything; they went above and beyond to ensure the space was gorgeous, clean, and perfectly set up. Our experience with CBH was nothing short of perfect! We had a small 54-person cocktail hour and reception, both in the Othmer Library, and we could not have dreamed of a more perfect space. The overall atmosphere of the library was incredible, and we leaned hard into the old-world feel of the space. Our guests were in awe when they walked in, and the fact that we were able to be involved every step of the way made it so special. CBH works exclusively with Purslane as their caterer, and all communication was done through Purslane, who are also amazing and make fabulous food. (We had many raving guests.) They also help arrange all the rentals, create the run of show, and ensure the night is running along as planned, which it did! A few things we weren't expecting: - The library itself is on the smaller side, so if you want to have dinner and dancing there, you're looking at 60 people tops. This worked out fine for us with plenty of room for a dance floor, but we did have to significantly cut our guest list. - Since the building is a historical landmark, no food or drink that could stain (red sauce, red wine, coffee, etc.) was allowed. This never bothered us, and none of our guests even noticed since we had a fully stocked bar and incredibly delicious food. - We were required to hire a professional day-of coordinator. This was not part of our budget, so be prepared if it's not in yours either. We ended up working with Mostest since they were the least expensive service we could find, and they were amazing. It turned out to be so useful to have our DOC there, so we're happy this rule was imposed, as it led to a seamless night! - The library set up a new exhibit a few weeks before our wedding in the Fransioli Gallery where we were to have our cocktail hour, and we did not know what it would constitute until a few weeks out. We ended up deciding the contents of the exhibit weren't very well suited to a wedding, and CBH/Purslane were incredibly accommodating, offering to put up pipe and drape or move the cocktail hour. We chose to move it to be in the Othmer and were so happy with that decision. Overall, CBH is a 10/10! Our wedding felt like a dream, and anything we had to sacrifice was far outweighed by the stunning space. We would highly recommend CBH as a venue if you're looking for a more intimate night with immaculate vibes!

In the end it was one BIG party! The team at House of Yes, is amazing to work with, they were able to understand we wanted a fun but elegant experience and were very creative with the execution to make this come to life! Last, we catered our food from their sister restaurant Queen, which was incredible as well!

They always promptly and kindly answered our emails, and all our changes never seemed to be a problem. They truly supported and cared for us every step of the way, and made the entire process not just easy, but fun! In addition to Cassie and JD, the entire team at the Wythe - from hotel porters, to bar and wait staff - were so incredibly kind, friendly, and helpful. Seriously 10/10 hospitality from the entire team. And I can’t leave a review without mentioning the tasting night that they offer - it was by far our favorite part of the entire wedding planning process, and such a fun - and delicious - date night!! (OMG the food and beverage from Le Crocodile is so so so good!). We count ourselves so lucky to be part of the Wythe Wedding alumni and can’t wait to return year after year for our anniversary!

This was the most amazing experience ever! We had our wedding at Threes Brewing at their Greenpoint location and from start to finish, Angie was exceptional and so, so, SO kind and helpful to us. She was extremely responsive to all our questions and concerns, and always made the effort to respond as soon as possible. The wedding industry and wedding planning process is so tough and stressful, but Angie went out of her way to make sure we were taken care of and she accommodated every concern and change we had. Not to mention, the food & drinks were amazing! Our guests still rave about the food and cocktails they were served, and every person says that the food and drinks were the best they've ever had at a wedding, which is super high praise! We could not have done this without Angie and the team at Threes Brewing, and would really suggest either of their locations as a perfect wedding venue for a couple looking for something that's intimate and cozy, and have amazing food and drinks!

The venue itself was perfect for our big day. It’s a rustic raw space, but the wood and brick finishes make it warm and inviting. I docked a star because they tried to pull one over on us. When we first booked, they sent a brochure that clearly stated the venue included chiavari chairs, however, when we checked in to confirm the furniture inventory, we were told they never had chiavari chairs and I must be mistaken. When I sent the screenshot and the email with the brochure, they had no explanation. So, I will say this— it’s a nice space, but beware of false advertising.

About wedding venues in Brooklyn, NY

Why Is Brooklyn the Perfect Wedding Destination?

Brooklyn gives couples those authentic industrial-chic spaces you just can't find elsewhere, with preserved timber beams and brick walls that tell the story of the borough's manufacturing past. You'll fall in love with waterfront venues like Liberty Warehouse where you can exchange vows with unobstructed views of Lady Liberty and the harbor. If you're dreaming of skyline views, Brooklyn's rooftop venues deliver 360-degree Manhattan panoramas that will leave your guests speechless. Each neighborhood brings its own character; from historic Brooklyn Heights to artistic Williamsburg; creating wedding backdrops impossible to duplicate in Manhattan. Plus your dollar stretches further here, typically giving you more space than you'd get across the East River.

What Are the Different Types of Wedding Venues in Brooklyn?

Brooklyn's venue options showcase its rich architectural heritage in ways that will make your celebration truly unique. Industrial spaces like The Green Building let you celebrate among original timber beams and factory windows for that perfect blend of history and style. If water views matter to you, Liberty Warehouse features floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the harbor and Statue of Liberty as your wedding backdrop. Looking for something elevated? The William Vale's 20th-floor space offers fully-accessible luxury with views that will take your breath away. Nature lovers can surround themselves with seasonal blooms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Palm House glasshouse while history buffs will appreciate Weylin's restored 1875 Gilded Age details in the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank.

How Much Does a Brooklyn Wedding Cost?

Brooklyn weddings typically run significantly higher than the national average of $6,500-$12,000. Your guest count will dramatically impact what you'll spend on your big day:

Guest CountEstimated Total Cost
50 guests$40,319
100 guests$68,404
150 guests$94,787
200 guests$118,336
250 guests$141,884
300 guests$165,433

Just for the venue alone you're looking at an average of $20,886 in Brooklyn which represents about 22% of your total wedding budget if you're hosting 150 guests. This gives you a realistic starting point when planning your Brooklyn wedding finances.

Which Brooklyn Neighborhoods Have the Best Wedding Venues?

Williamsburg offers you converted industrial spaces like MyMoon Restaurant where you can celebrate in a transformed 19th-century boiler room featuring sophisticated dining spaces with reclaimed wooden details that photographers love. DUMBO gives you those iconic cobblestone streets leading to venues with Manhattan Bridge backdrops perfect for unforgettable wedding photos. If you're planning a smaller gathering Greenpoint's Threes at Franklin and Kent provides an accessible option with intimate charm. Brooklyn Heights surrounds you with elegant venues in historic settings while Red Hook's Liberty Warehouse preserves authentic port architecture with full accessibility and those waterfront views you've been dreaming about.

What Should I Consider When Choosing a Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

When selecting your Brooklyn venue always verify the capacity limits match your guest count; this is particularly important at industrial venues with strict fire codes that won't budge no matter how much you want to squeeze in a few extra cousins. Planning to marry in September? You're not alone as it ranks as Brooklyn's most popular wedding month requiring 13-month advance bookings (417 days) for peak dates. Transportation planning becomes crucial since many Brooklyn venues have limited parking options for your guests. While many venues permit outside catering they may impose fees if you want to bring in your own alcohol so factor those potential costs into your budget.

Which Brooklyn Venues Offer Special Features?

The William Vale in Williamsburg gives you fully-accessible modern event spaces with sweeping views and personalized menus tailored to your taste. Food lovers can enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine at The River Café through four-course tasting menus served in a glass-enclosed pavilion surrounded by water views. If tech matters to your celebration 74Wythe features advanced audiovisual capabilities that support creative remote guest participation beyond basic streaming; perfect for including loved ones who can't attend in person. At Wythe Hotel you'll enjoy French-inspired cuisine from their in-house restaurant Le Crocodile bringing elevated dining to your wedding day.

When Should I Book My Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

You'll typically need to book your Brooklyn venue about 13 months before your wedding date to secure your first choice. September generates the most inquiries with prime dates often secured well over a year in advance. If you're flexible with your date winter weddings between January and March might reward you with lower venue rates and greater date availability with shorter booking windows. This seasonal flexibility could save you thousands while still giving you the Brooklyn wedding of your dreams. Just remember that popular venues book quickly regardless of season so start your venue search as early as possible.
