“Harrington Farm was truly our dream venue, and they exceeded every expectation! From the start, their team was responsive, organized, and incredibly professional, making the entire planning process feel seamless. It was immediately clear that they are experienced professionals who know exactly how to execute a streamlined wedding day. We had the pleasure of working with Jess and Lindsey, who were both wonderful throughout the process. Lindsey, our day-of coordinator, was attentive, supportive, and full of thoughtful guidance that made us feel completely confident leading up to our wedding day. Becca, our attendant, was phenomenal. She anticipated our needs before we even had to ask and created such a relaxing atmosphere. Because everything was handled so professionally, we were truly able to stay present and enjoy every moment of the day. Although we were married in early April before the spring blooms arrived, the property was still absolutely stunning. The grounds were beautifully maintained and picturesque, even without full foliage. One of the most complimented parts of our wedding was the food. The seasonal menu offered so many great options and their tasting event was incredibly helpful—not only for selecting menu items, but also for providing insight into vendor recommendations and table design options. The Smoked Brisket and Garden Pesto Pasta were particular favorites among our guests and received countless compliments throughout the evening. We also appreciated how accommodating Harrington Farm was with our needs and budget. The extensive planning resources they provide, along with their recommended vendor list, made the entire experience feel organized and manageable from start to finish. Every member of the team was professional, warm, and genuinely invested in making our wedding day special. We are so grateful we chose Harrington Farm as our venue and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-organized, and exceptional wedding experience.”

Ian and Bri went above and beyond to make our wedding dreams come true with such care and ease. Every single inch of Four Winds is gorgeous, you’ll have a hard time choosing where you want it all to happen! The Barn at Gibbet Hill
Rating: 5.0 (2 reviews)
Groton, MA
  • Up to 200 guests
  • Select services
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $15,000

Set in a beautifully renovated and restored 100-year old barn overlooking rolling hills of conservation land, the Barn at Gibbet Hill is one of New England’s most unique venues for weddings and special events. The Barn offers rustic elegance with unparalleled views. The first wedding at The Barn at Gibbet Hill took place in 2002 when Jed and Asia’s fantastic outdoor wedding plans got rained out. Back then the Barn was completely unrenovated – hay bales were moved to the edge of the room and the tractor had to be parked outside so a makeshift wedding aisle could be made. After witnessing the undeniable magic of that day, the idea to transform the Barn into a permanent wedding venue began to take hold. Two years later, after a massive renovation of the Barn was completed, The Barn officially opened for business. And two years after that, CBS-4 crowned the Barn the best wedding venue in the Boston Area!

Why you'll love this venue

  • Provides a dedicated team on-site
  • Full catering menu to choose from
  • Rustic charm with elegance

Venue considerations

  • Large venue, not ideal for small guest lists
  • No free parking
  • No on-site guest accommodations
“We found the Barn when searching for an all-inclusive yet customizable venue (so our wedding would feel like us), with good food and staff that would make the day feel seamless. LGBTQ friendly was a must. Ultimately, we’re so grateful we picked Gibbet Hill! Furthermore, having a daytime celebration allowed us to have the wedding we wanted within our budget. Overall, the Barn’s team was genuinely invested in making our vision come to life, and they more than delivered on our big day. From our very first intake and tour, we knew we were in good hands. Our planner, Bree, was with us from the beginning, answering every question with warmth and confidence that immediately put us at ease. Throughout the planning process she was professional, responsive, and just fun to work with. We also picked many of the Barn’s preferred vendors, who all spoke highly of one another so it was clear they had great experience and flow as a cross-vendor team. On the day itself, the entire Barn staff operated with a calming efficiency that made everything feel effortless. They had a grounding presence that kept us on track without ever making us feel rushed and that tone made an enormous difference. Our top notch team, including Bree, Sarah, Jess, and so many other amazing staff also helped with our dresses, carried our trains, drove us in a golf cart for photos, and took wonderful care of our guests throughout the reception (who commented on how well they were looked after). We even found out afterward that the team had helped our flower girl tend to a wasp sting during the festivities. That kind of attentiveness speaks volumes. Any issue that arose they handled with utmost professionalism. Also, the food was fantastic and we STILL get so many compliments from guests! Our personal goal as the couple was to enjoy the food and that we did. One highlight for us was also the “reserved for newlyweds” appetizer plate brought to us in the bridal suite. Such a thoughtful touch. We cannot recommend The Barn, Bree, and the entire team highly enough. If you’re looking for a venue where you’ll feel genuinely cared for from the first conversation to the final exit, this is the place. Thank you so much to the staff at the Barn at Gibbet Hill for making our wedding so special!”

“We didn’t use tuckerman hall for our ceremony but our cocktail hour and reception were held here. I can imagine all of the following review would apply if we had also chosen to have our ceremony there! We couldn’t have had a more seamless, perfect wedding day with Paul, Adrian and their team at Tuckerman hall. Stepping into the venue during our tour, the hall speaks for itself - absolutely stunning throughout the whole building. Getting access to the whole building all day of the wedding certainly was a selling point - the bride groom, grooms room, first look spot, photo spots, stair case… it all made for gorgeous pictures. Getting to be there all day made our morning of completely relaxed (we had an evening ceremony) and stress free. Never ran into my husband or groomsmen, Paul made sure to bring gifts or anything else between rooms so there was never cross-over until the first look We cannot say enough good things about Paul and Adrian - no planner or day of coordinator needed! The day before, we were able to bring nearly everything we’d need for the wedding day to the venue ahead of time and we even got to practice our first dance in the hall. Adrian was an exceptional help with this and our first dance ended up lovely! Throughout the reception, Paul and Adrian checked to make sure there wasn’t anything we or our guests needed or wanted, and all of their staff was above and beyond pleasant and professional, chatting with everyone like old friends rather than employees at your event. Leah at the bar was absolutely fantastic, so was her son who walked my parents to their car after and helped us load up our florals! Paul helped my bridal party get the suite cleaned out and the majority of things packed into my maid of honors car at the end of the night, but also set a time with us the next morning to get the rest of our decor and things. By the time my parents and my husband & I arrived, they had carts all loaded up with all of our things so all that was needed to do was transfer to the car. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day - Paul & Adrian saw our vision and executed the plan perfectly every step of the way, with planned planning meetings ahead of time, to excellent follow through the entire way though. Paul provided a list of vendors we could look through - DJ was spectacular, caricature artist for favors with the DJ was a major hit, food was so unbelievably delicious - top tier vendors all around. Our guests couldn’t say enough amazing things about tuckerman hall, their team, or the food (Tuckerman’s specific catering company they work with was top notch and we’re still drooling over the food two weeks later) the caterer & preferred vendors work so wonderfully together and there is simply nothing negative to say! They seem to be enjoying themselves and being at the event rather than dreading their shift - and it was noticed and appreciated by both my husband and myself, as well as our guests! Everyone had the best time, bride & groom included and cannot stop talking about it If you want your wedding to go off without a hitch and be absolutely stunning every step of the way, tuckerman hall is absolutely the way to go! Love Katie & Matt”

“I cannot speak highly enough about our experience hosting our wedding at The Curtis House by Gloriosa & Co. My husband and I got married a couple of weeks ago (September 2024) and our wedding was truly one the happiest, best days of our lives thanks to the love and personalization that Gloria and Emma put into planning and executing our day. We were drawn to so many things about the venue, including the charming setting of Ashfield, the rustic but modernized aesthetic of the barn, the beautiful gardens and greenhouse, and the house being an available space to get ready. We were also drawn to the convenience and uniqueness of being able to provide our floral arrangements from Gloria’s greenhouse and gardens on-site, and having all of the food and beverages taken care of through the venue’s catering and bar team. But what made us decide to book this venue for our special day was the attention that Gloria and Emma give each couple. This venue is not your typical wedding factory that puts on weddings multiple times a week, every week of the year; Gloria and Emma host between 12-15 weddings per year and consequently each couple they work with gets full access to the venue the weekend of their wedding and so much guidance during the planning process. We were able to cultivate a vegetarian menu consisting of so many of our favorite foods plus a number of signature dishes of the venue, such as a butternut squash galette that was a crowd favorite. Sustainability is also incredibly important to us as a couple, and Gloria and Emma are committed to sourcing only local, seasonal ingredients for the food and florals and minimizing waste, which meant so much to us. In terms of decor and furnishings, the venue has so much available for couples to use, such as tables, chairs, ceremony benches, several wedding arches to choose from, displays for food or guest favors, tableware, candles, string lights, and more. We did not have to rent or coordinate anything other than the few DIY projects we made, which Gloria and Emma effortlessly integrated into the set up for us. Being able to take care of practically everything through Gloria and Emma made planning so much simpler. On the wedding day, Gloria, Emma, and their team handled the venue set up in a few hours, which happened like a choreographed dance that required practically no work from us or our wedding parties other than providing input and approval along the way. Everything went extremely smoothly and we were able to be fully present. After our ceremony, my husband and I returned to the house, where Gloria had set up champagne and a spread of our hors d'oeuvres for us to enjoy over a few minutes of privacy, which is something she had recommended we do as we took in the moment together. Our guests have had nothing but positive things to say about our wedding and it was clear the day of how much fun everyone had. We have received so many compliments about how beautiful and authentic the venue was, how exquisite Gloria’s floral arrangements were, how delicious all of the food was (even the heavy meat-eaters loved the vegetarian menu), and how this will be a wedding they will always remember. Gloria made us feel like part of her family and we were so happy to be able to support her business. We truly could not have asked for a more memorable, personalized, loving, and beautiful wedding, and hope that many other couples have the pleasure of getting married at this special place.”

“From the moment we first inquired about hosting our wedding at Searles Castle, the team was responsive, attentive, and flexible in accommodating our needs. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful, with a unique and well-appointed space that felt both spacious and intimate for our special day. Shawn and his team went above and beyond to ensure our wedding day went smoothly - they were super accommodating of our guests with mobility issues and I never found myself worrying as the bride, confident that the entire day would flow seamlessly. No request felt too big, and the team was very helpful when we needed direction on what to do. Having the day of coordinator included here is such a big benefit, and they rock at it. While booking we were reading all the five-star reviews for Searles, we knew we were choosing a great venue, but experiencing it firsthand was even better than we could have imagined. I've heard so many horror stories from other brides about their venues, but Searles was organized, attentive, and truly professional throughout the entire process. Not a single thing went wrong. We couldn't have asked for a better wedding day at this beautiful and unique space! Thank you!”

“Booking Hyla Brook Estate was a leap of faith since we reserved the venue while it was still under construction, but Kim's vision and professionalism made us confident in our decision from day one! Her communication style was efficient and thoughtful, answering our questions quickly while clearly thinking through every detail of our wedding day. Kim, the owner and our day-of coordinator, genuinely cared about making our celebration special...she even helped us recover when I accidentally booked the outdoor lights for the wrong year, turning a potential disaster into a non-issue. The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, with an organized and detailed setup that showed how much thought went into every aspect of the space. Hiring a day-of coordinator was worth every penny, and having Kim in that role meant we got someone who knew the venue inside and out and was personally invested in our happiness. We cannot recommend Hyla Brook Estate highly enough!!”

“We couldn’t have asked for a better venue for our wedding! We wanted a venue with history, beautiful views, affordable, and only had one wedding a day -- and we got it! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the stunning scenery and beautiful architecture. The staff was incredibly accommodating, the bartenders were so thoughtful. One brought in mint from her garden, as mojitos were my favorite drink! While there were a few moments of uncertainty and lack of communication in the planning process, it didn't take away from the magic of the day. The outdoor ceremony space was perfect, surrounded by lush greenery and gorgeous views. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about how beautiful everything was! Inside, the reception area was equally impressive, with plenty of room for dancing and celebrating. The food was absolutely delicious, and they offered a variety of options that everyone loved. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect, from the decor to the service. Overall, our experience at this venue was nothing short of magical. We feel so lucky to have chosen this place to start our new chapter together. Highly recommend it to any couple looking for the perfect and affordable wedding venue!”

“Choosing a venue is arguably the most important aspect of celebrating a wedding, and the Stevens Estate is absolutely spectacular. I wouldn't do a single thing differently when it comes to choosing a venue. From our very first tour of the Estate, we knew they were setting the bar both aesthetically and in terms of planning, and no other venue surpassed it! Amy and Helen were extremely helpful during the planning process, providing excellent forms and schedules that guided us through. Because Fireside Catering owns and caters at the venue, everything could be discussed and planned all at once, which was great for us as we were coordinating our wedding out of state. On the day of, Amy, Casey and other staff members were beyond kind and helpful. Everyone was extremely attentive to our needs and it really felt like a luxury experience. Everything was run smoothly and professionally. The fact that they take care of setup and cleanup meant that my husband and I could be excited about celebrating our marriage without thinking about logistics. There are all kinds of backdrops for photos - beautiful forest surrounding the building, gorgeous interiors of the Estate. The food was excellent! All our guests said they had a great time, and the dance floor was packed all night! We seriously could not have asked for a more magical day, and it is all thanks to Amy, Helen, and the team at the Stevens Estate. We are so grateful for all their hard work!”

Cambridge Boat Club

CAMBRIDGE, MA
  • Up to 120 guests

Cambridge Boat Club is a social and rowing club, located on the banks of the Charles River overlooking Eliot Bridge. Originally built in 1909, CBC was picked up in its entirety and rolled upstream to its current location in 1947, to make room for the building of Memorial Drive. Featuring vaulted ceilings and dark exposed beams akin to a ski chalet, and double french doors opening to a full length veranda, CBC offers a unique, rustic setting for any event.

Why you'll love this venue

  • Multiple event spaces
  • Raw space for complete customization
  • Has a dance floor to dance the night away

Venue considerations

  • Does not allow pets
  • No on-site guest accommodations
  • Couple must handle cleanup and setup
“The Cambridge Boat Club was the perfect choice for our New England fall-themed wedding! It is an absolutely gorgeous location on the river with just the right amount of historic charm. We had originally considered going with all-inclusive venues, but ultimately opted for the flexibility we had with the CBC to craft our own vision. The venue features two distinct rooms, a larger room called the Drinkwater room, which can be used for the wedding dinner, the Club Room, which was used for cocktail hour and the dance floor, and a porch, which has a stunning view. The layout perfectly accommodated both the party enthusiasts and our more introverted guests, who preferred quieter spaces for rest and socialization away from the dance floor. Opting for this venue requires a more DIY approach compared to all-inclusive options. Since it is a historic building, there are some restrictions to be aware of, e.g. no sparklers or ceiling drapery, and existing wall decor generally need to stay on the wall. This was no issue for us since we had a clear vision for the wedding theme and decor, and enlisted the help of Tastings Catering (highly recommend, since they have previous experience working in this space and also handle some of the decor) and Designlight. Major shoutout to Katie Donnelly, the club manager at Cambridge Boat Club, who always responded in record time to all our inquiries and provided helpful guidance. With everyone's help, we were able to create the wedding of our dreams!”
