“Our wedding weekend at Black Walnut Farm was nothing short of extraordinary. I had always dreamed of more than just a single day or a few hours of celebration. I imagined a full weekend surrounded by our favorite people, celebrating a love I had hoped for my entire life. Black Walnut Farm made that dream a reality in the most magical way. My fiancé and I got engaged in June 2024 and waited until August to begin planning so we could savor being engaged. Black Walnut Farm was our first venue visit. During their open house, we explored the property while enjoying signature cocktails and bites, and we immediately felt at home meeting Jim. His warmth, charisma, and genuine spirit set the tone for everything that followed. The estate is breathtaking. Acres of beauty, an enchanting forest, whimsical gardens, and a farmhouse filled with stunning, eclectic antiques. Within minutes, we knew our search was over. As we left, Jim smiled, saying he could tell we had found “the one.” The planning process was seamless and stress-free. As someone who goes with the flow, I was amazed by how organized and supportive the team was. Timelines, documents, and communication were clear and thoughtful. Sarah, co-owner and Jim’s partner, made the experience effortless. While the venue is largely a la carte, Sarah provides a curated list of trusted vendors so you never feel lost. Together, Sarah and Jim are an unmatched team. We chose the weekend package, allowing us and six guests to stay in the farmhouse from Thursday through Monday. Walking in felt like stepping into a dream. We were greeted with a handwritten card, a charcuterie board, and champagne. Fresh banana bread, muffins, and cookies were displayed, the refrigerator stocked with snacks, drinks, and s’mores essentials, and a bar cart held homemade old fashioneds. Every room included robes and fresh water by the bedside, and fireplaces were ready with stacked firewood. Our honeymoon suite was spacious and cozy, with its own fireplace, sitting area, and clawfoot tub. Black Walnut Farm even created a custom flag with our names and named a tree in our honor, a meaningful and unforgettable touch. On Friday evening, we hosted our rehearsal dinner for fifty-five guests in the barn, which perfectly blends rustic elegance with antique details and warmth. The staff’s pride and attention to detail were evident, and Jim, Sarah, or Lindsey were always nearby to ensure everything ran smoothly. After dinner, my bridesmaids and I returned to the farmhouse for a cozy night by the fire watching Father of the Bride. Our wedding day was pure magic. We got ready together in a sun-filled room, sharing laughter and happy tears. We exchanged vows in the forest, a fairytale setting. The celebration continued in the barn with cocktail hour, dinner, dancing, and dessert. Guests loved the barn loft, complete with a photo booth and a phone for leaving messages. Although the weather prevented our planned bonfire hour, Sarah and Jim graciously extended our time in the barn, ensuring the night remained just as special. This weekend was the best experience of our lives. Our friends and family still talk about how incredible it was. We are endlessly grateful to Sarah, Jim, Miss Lily, and the entire Black Walnut Farm team for creating a wedding weekend we will cherish forever.”

“Choosing to have our wedding at Camp Timber Lake was probably the single most important decision we made during the planning process. The camp setting gave us the opportunity to create something far more immersive, personal, and joyful than we had imagined, and the camp / Gatheround staff and everyone involved in the planning process gave us the ability to execute on making all our dreams come true! In the months leading up to the wedding, we worked closely with Will, who was incredibly friendly, responsive, and on top of every detail. He always made time to talk through our many questions and helped accommodate some of our more unconventional requests—from having Camp Timber Lake cater our Sunday reception dinner (which we highly recommend!) to brainstorming the best locations for a nighttime game of kick the can. The camp itself is absolutely beautiful and was perfectly manicured for our arrival. There were endless activities for our guests to enjoy, and the staff placed sports equipment throughout the property so everyone could immediately jump into whatever interested them. Our guests had so much fun exploring the grounds, tossing frisbees and footballs, shooting hoops, and making the camp their own for the weekend. The staff including Reggie, Scott, Liz, Willow, Marcie, and so many others, were AMAZING. They were warm, attentive, and genuinely invested in making the weekend special. Scott and Liz stayed on top of every detail, and the entire team continually went above and beyond to make our guests feel welcome and cared for. When one of our guests lost her phone in the dining hall after hours, the team turned the lights back on and helped her search for it. After she mentioned that she was having trouble turning on the heat in her cabin, they walked over to help, then returned 15 minutes later with brownies and ice cream for her and her cabin-mates as a nice surprise. Another favorite moment happened on the dance floor Saturday night. We had brought bubble guns but realized too late that they required batteries we didn’t have. We’d given up on using them, but when Willow (one of the camp staff) overheard a friend say, “I wish we had batteries for these bubble guns.” he went and tracked down batteries from TV remotes around the camp on his own accord and got the bubble guns working. They ended up being a huge hit! Moments like these, and so many others, made us feel completely at home and made our guests feel incredibly well cared for. The food was also outstanding. We received rave reviews about every meal. The team went out of its way to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions, providing hearty vegan and vegetarian options at every meal. They even prepared a special plate every meal for my mom, who has an autoimmune disorder that prevents her from eating most spices. The team also decorated dishes with edible flowers and made everything look beautiful. For our reception dinner on the final night, they even came up with the idea of displaying leftover Boy Scout patches from one of our weekend activities along the buffet counter. It was the perfect thoughtful touch. We had multiple guests tell us that this was their favorite wedding they had ever attended, and Camp Timber Lake (and the wonderful people who run it) were a huge reason why. Thank you for giving us and our guests such a magical, joyful, and unforgettable weekend. It truly was the best weekend of our lives! Can’t recommend this wedding venue enough!”

“The only way I know how to describe my wedding weekend is that it was totally magical Kim and her team pay attention to details and run a very well oiled machine that made wedding planning way less stressful than I heard it was supposed to be. She and her team ie Danny and Aurely were professional and communicative all along the way. The view on the hilltop where the ceremony is was the most beautiful backdrop. Went off without a hitch, it couldn’t have went better, and we’ve had so many people tell us it was the most fun wedding they’ve ever been to! You will not regret booking the Inn at west settlement and we would make the same choice if we could do it all over again.”

“I cannot say enough amazing things about Plattekill. My guests are still raving about our wedding from the food to the hospitality to the scenery, everything on our special day was absolutely perfect. From the bartenders to the people helping with the ski lift to the caterers, everyone helping that day was so lovely and personable it was such a pleasure meeting and interacting with them all. We loved how unique it was that we could take a ski lift to the top of a mountain and get married up there and also how the cocktail hour, dinner and dancing portions were all in separate areas. The fire pit so guests could enjoy some outside time and roast some marshmallows was such a nice rustic touch as well. Autumn was the woman who helped us from our first tour there, communications leading up to, and the day before and during our wedding and she was amazing from start to finish. We are so grateful for this venue and that we booked with them, our wedding day exceeded our expectations and was absolutely perfect thanks to them.”

“My wife and I came to them on short notice and with a lot of stress due to the time/money expenses of planning the big day. Renee was unfailingly kind, endlessly patient and always upbeat. Putting it simply, the crew at Adena are wonderful people who are very good at their job. The day itself went off without a single hiccup. Every typical issue that we encountered - such as delays on our part, or things I forgot- was handled before I even fully aware of it. They did their jobs calmly and joyfully, and helped reassure my anxious wife (and my surprisingly anxious self). The location is absolutely beautiful, maintained expertly and decorated perfectly. Our reception was elegant and rustic, with clear views of the blue sky outside making a very pretty backdrop to celebration. The Wooded Cathedral was where we had our reception, and I highly recommend it to anyone who’s dreamed of an outdoor wedding in the country. My wife and I are so happy that we switched venues to Adena. We’re thrilled that they’ve left us with these memories, and we are so happy to call the team at Adena friends. Thank you guys for helping us start a marriage on the highest possible note.”

“Yes! CHOOSE THIS VENUE!! You’ve found the right place! We are finally getting around to posting our review about the most perfect wedding venue we could have imagined! We saw Maple Shade November ‘22 when we were ‘shopping’ for a wedding venue; choosing it was a no brainer. The barn itself is unique and different than any others we have seen and it comes with everything. Dining area upstairs, separate from the cocktail hour, dancing, downstairs bar, lounge area, game room (this place has it all!). Long farm tables are gorgeous within themselves and need minimal decorations. And with the venue having SO MUCH on site, there was no need for us to order and prepare any other decor items like we would have needed at some of the ‘Blank Canvas’ barns we initially considered. The barn sits on acres and acres of land, giving you the option of where to have your ceremony, we chose right in front of the pond where our wedding party had a grand entrance from the large barn doors. MAGICAL! Enough about the venue, although we hope this paints an accurate picture! Everything you could need is there!! More importantly, Jay and Abby Wilson (owners of Maple Shade) are absolute rockstars. From our first visit and follow up phone call, we knew working together would be a breeze. They were helpful in our initial planning stages, helping us plan different details, offering extremely helpful advice. Wedding day they were like conductors of an orchestra, making sure everyone and everything were in place and running according to plan. It was PERFECT! And when uncontrollable things don’t go to plan, they had us covered! On our wedding day in late July, there was a high percentage of rain expected only during the time of our ceremony; Jay and Abby made the call that morning to put up a tent and made all the adjustments needed without causing bride and groom any extra stress… THANK GOD they did - it literally monsooned during the ceremony, like nothing we've seen before at an outdoor wedding! (Just a fluke storm rolling though). They reminded us that as a bride and groom getting married at their venue, they make the same decisions for us and our guests that they would make for their own children. They are kind and caring and so fun, and certainly know how to run a wedding venue. We respected, trusted and appreciated all their knowledge and hard work. It’s definitely not their first rodeo! As we will continue to call this day "the best day ever," we are very grateful to Jay and Abby for all of their help, attention to detail, and their ability to see and understand our vision for the most perfect wedding we could have imagined. Ps- they made a few recommendations for supplementary vendors (catering, DJ, bartenders) and all their recommendations were also HOME RUNS! It was such a smooth operation.”

“Our wedding was back in July 2024, but we are still amazed by how incredibly magical and beautiful our wedding day (and weekend!) was. From the moment we met Melanie and took the venue tour, our hearts were set on hosting our wedding at Stonewall Estate. The property had everything we were looking for (bonus points for the Estate House) and the mountain setting was the exact vibe we were looking for. Melanie, and the entire team at Stonewall Estate, were an absolute pleasure to work with. Melanie’s attention to detail, excellent communication and willingness to be flexible and dream with us made the planning side so much easier, and that carried over to the wedding weekend itself where we felt so very well taken care of so that we could take a step back and enjoy the celebrations completely with our family and friends.”

We had some requests that were not standard offerings, like doing an intimate plated rehearsal dinner and having lamb lollipops as passed hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour, and the team went above and beyond to make sure we got exactly what we wanted. The team also ensures everything is beautifully presented/setup, adding greenery, candles, etc. to food stations and other areas of the event, so you really don't need to add much decor if you don't want to. We absolutely loved having our wedding at The Arnold House, and then spent our minimoon at Kenoza Hall and had a celebratory dinner at The DeBruce — two of their other properties. Both were gorgeous and treated us with the same excellent hospitality. We can't wait to continue visiting FSH properties for future anniversaries/weekend trips. One note I would give couples considering The Arnold House: if you are splitting your floor plan between the barn and greenhouse and have the DJ setup in the barn, make sure your DJ and coordinator do a good job of putting speakers in the greenhouse and inviting guests to watch dances/speeches in the barn. Our vendors didn't do this, so most guests didn't see our dances/hear our speeches, which was a bummer. In hindsight, we wish we talked through this more with our vendors.”

Twelve Ponds is a 105 acre private estate wedding venue in the Catskills, where ponds, wildflower meadows, a restored farmhouse, a barn, and a stone arch look out over open hills. We host one wedding at a time, and every booking is a full-weekend buyout. The property is yours Friday through Sunday, so the rehearsal dinner, the ceremony, the reception, and a slow Sunday morning by the water all happen in one place. No shared grounds, no six-hour window that rushes you through your own wedding. Couples marry in the meadow, at the pond, or at the arch depending on the season and the light. Fall brings color across the hills, and summer evenings run long and gold. Bring the caterer you love. We have a full commercial kitchen and supply all the tables, chairs, plates, glassware and cutlery for any occasion. Twelve Ponds is for couples who want a wedding weekend, not a wedding day. Send your date and guest count and we’ll tell you honestly whether we’re the right fit.

The price of the venue was incredibly reasonable, and it allowed for a very personalized wedding which we loved (no required vendors). Wally, the owner, was amazing to work with. He had great recommendations for vendors, was very communicative and accommodating, and made the whole process so easy. We also loved that our friends could camp at the venue, which made figuring out transportation a lot easier. Lastly, the venue itself was so beautiful! “We had our wedding reception at Pine Ridge Farms and what a magical and unforgettable experience we had! You can see the Catskill Mountains from the property and the views are breathtaking. The owner, Ms. Gioja was truly wonderful and she made the planning process seamless for us. Which was so important, because it was my first time and she was patient and so very accommodating. It was apparent that she wanted the bride to be happy!!! She was an absolute blessing to us and her team as well! Being able to celebrate with our family and friends at a place that added such beauty and magic was what I wanted! I always say to Ms. Gioja that her place makes you feel at peace, being away from the business of this world and to be surrounded by sounds of nature. What a feeling?! Thank you for taking the time to read my review and if you're thinking about having your event at Pine Ridge Farms, you will not regret it!!!”

“When we started planning our wedding, we knew that we wanted our guests to truly experience the simple beauty of the Hudson Valley. That is what led us to the Abeel House. Our entire day was magical. I walked down the aisle on a little pebble path, surrounded on both sides by wildflowers. Our wedding guests were seated on hay bales in the prairie, the sun on their backs and the stream behind them. After our ceremony, we celebrated in the restored barn behind the historic Dutch stone house. We split the barn into three sections — one to seat our guests for dinner, one for the dance floor, drinks, and dessert tables, and one for the local bluegrass band we hired. As evening came, we turned on the twinkle lights in the barn and danced the night away. You could see the stars through the open windows.”

Venue considerations

  • Does not have a dance floor
  • Venue feels large for events with small guest lists

“The Outlier Inn is truly one-of-a-kind, offering so much more than your typical wedding venue. From the start, we knew it was something special. One of our favorite aspects was being able to bring all of our loved ones together in one place for the entire weekend, creating a unique experience where our family and friends were “trapped” in the best way—celebrating and bonding without distractions. If you’re someone who loves to party under the stars, and you enjoy envisioning and creating fun, personalized spaces, this is the venue for you. The property itself is a hidden gem, full of surprises at every turn. There’s so much to explore, from the charming tiny houses scattered throughout, to the inviting homemade hot tub and peaceful sauna, to the quirky hidden thrift shop/barn. We held our ceremony in the newly added amphitheater nestled in the woods—an intimate space surrounded by towering trees, creating a perfect natural backdrop for our vows. We were lucky with beautiful September weather, and the sound of our friends laughing and exploring the grounds will forever be a cherished memory. Josh, the owner of The Outlier, truly made the entire experience unforgettable. From the moment we met him, we knew this was “our” place. He is warm, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating. During our first tour of the property, Josh even let us bottle-feed his adorable baby goat, “Frip”—a moment that will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Leading up to the wedding, Josh was always available to offer guidance and advice, and throughout the weekend, his calm presence was a steady source of reassurance. Whether he was setting up bonfires, handling speakers and microphones, or just checking in on us, Josh ensured everything ran smoothly, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in every moment of our celebration. The only downside to having our wedding at The Outlier Inn is that we almost want to keep it a secret—it’s so magical, we’d love to keep it all to ourselves! But in all honesty, The Outlier Inn is an extraordinary venue, and we can’t imagine getting married anywhere else. Thank you, Josh, for making our weekend so unforgettable!”

“We recently attended a wedding at L’Orangerie in Greenville, NY, and it was absolutely incredible. The entire venue felt magical from start to finish. The greenhouse was full of natural light, it created the most beautiful setting for the celebration, and the surrounding grounds were just as stunning. There are so many picturesque spots for a ceremony: near the peaceful pond, inside the greenhouse itself, or tucked among the trees. The house on-site where the wedding party got ready was gorgeous, spacious, and filled with natural light, making the whole morning feel relaxed and special. Everywhere we turned, the property offered another beautiful backdrop for photos. Since we attended in October, the fall foliage was breathtaking with vibrant oranges, reds, and golds that made the whole venue feel like something out of a storybook. L’Orangerie is truly a dream wedding venue. Every detail, from the scenery to the atmosphere, made the day unforgettable. The owners, Lucy and Felix were there too and lovely! Highly recommend!”

“Having our wedding at Handsome Hollow was an absolute dream. Kate and her team are professional, thorough, and beyond helpful before and on the day of the wedding. The location and grounds are stunning! We chose to have our ceremony in the fern forest a little ways up from the barn - it's like walking into a fairytale. The barn is a beautiful reception space that's open, inviting, and even more magical after sunset under the glowing string lights! We had a few guests including a couple of our family members who required assistance walking at certain times, but that was not a problem at all... The team communicates like special special forces to make sure everyone is comfortable and anyone requiring assistance gets shuttled swiftly by an off road buggy wherever they need to go! We also got shuttled as Bride & Groom does have it's privelages :) It was such a relief to know everyone was taken care of. Staying in the guest house was fantastic. The morning of the wedding I got ready upstairs in the barn loft, while my wife had the farmhouse the with hair/makeup and all of that. It's such a cute house, and was so nice to not have any traveling before our big day. Everything you would need is stocked at the farmhouse and help always seemed readily available if needed. It was just the relaxed easy going atmosphere we needed to chill out as much as possible before the wedding. There are so many great nooks and places for photo ops at Handsome Hollow! For a summer day it wasn't too hot at all, maybe the elevation helps a bit with that! It was warm before the ceremony when we took some photos in the sun, but we just cooled down in the farmhouse afterwards. The ceremony in the fern garden was under cover of trees so it was perfectly cool (both temperature and vibes!) The barn just seems to stay cool also, so that was no issue at all. We didn't get a chance to eat our desserts, so the team brought them up to the farmhouse for us to enjoy after the wedding was over. It's that level of hospitality, and so appreciated. My only regret is that I couldn't split myself into two people so I could not only get married, but also see the food buffet, see the s'mores by the campfire, watch our first dance (we nailed it!!). Luckily we had a phenomenal wedding planner (Lauren / Wild Blooms Bridal), and phenomenal photographer (Joshua Brown) to compliment the venue! It was truly an amazing day, and we can't thank you enough. You cannot go wrong with Handsome Hollow!!!”

“We got married at M&D Farm in August of 2024. It's hard to put into words just how magical our wedding was. When you pull into M&D you are instantly transported to a tranquil oasis. We knew as soon as we got pulled into their driveway the day of our visit that this was the place we'd be getting married. What we'd soon learn was that not only would we be saying yes to a beautiful venue, but an all star team! The care Daniel and Mario put into M&D is evident in everything from the flowers to the furniture! Every detail is carefully curated while feeling completely natural and seamless. They have great pride in their home and gardens and tend to it with love, care, and dedication. Daniel and Mario were such a pleasure to work with from start to finish. They are the ultimate professionals, yet also so kind and warm. Couples are so incredibly lucky to get to work with them. Daniel brought out my best creativity and organizational skills, making me think about countless things I would never have considered. We hired Daniel to be our day of coordinator, which is a decision I would highly recommend. No one knows M&D and the local vendors better than him. His recommendations were all stellar and he made suggestions while also listening to us and honoring our vision. He worked with us to be thorough and organized and the result was the most perfect day. Everyone always says to be prepared for things to go wrong on your wedding day. In our eyes, and our guests' eyes, nothing went wrong. Everything was spectacular! That is completely thanks to Daniel! We are so appreciative and in awe of him. Looking back at photos feels like a never ending "pinch me" moment of sheer perfection. Mario and Daniel have created a little slice of heaven.
