Our venue began in 1928. The historic building was home to The Mt. Lookout Theater. People have been entertained in the space for generations. In 2007 we gave the entire interior fresh start choosing to bring the space back to it's original open layout with a nod to it's Art Deco past. The Historic Baker Building has been part of Downtown Lubbock since 1928, so when you celebrate here, you're adding your story to nearly a century of history. From 1940–1942, the building hosted USO dances, welcoming servicemen and the community to gather and dance. Today, couples still celebrate on those same historic hardwood floors. The Baker retains incredible original character, including its vintage tin ceilings and beautiful hardwood floors. We even still have two original chairs from 1928. Our wrap-around mezzanine overlooks the ballroom and is one of the building's most distinctive architectural features.
