  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $997
  • Serves New York, NY

Golden Thread Cinematography is a boutique wedding photo and video team dedicated to telling each couple’s story with intention, artistry, and care. We focus on creating a calm, guided, and enjoyable experience so our couples can stay present while we capture their day with a cinematic and timeless approach.

We had an amazing experience working with Golden Thread for our wedding. We had a gap between our civil and symbolic ceremony, (our wedding wasn't structured like typical ones) but Matt and his partner were very flexible. They allowed us to feel comfortable when taking photos and helped guide us with poses as my now husband and I are NOT great picture takers lol. Thank you so much!!! We absolutely love our wedding photos.

  • Starts at $4,000

After graduating from Parson's School of Art in Manhattan, I worked as a fine artist, my work involved photography and photo manipulation. I quickly discovered that I loved and excelled at photo retouching, and went on to work for some of the best photo retouching studios in New York. In 2009 I shot my first wedding, it was a dear friend of mine and the beautiful photos were featured in one of the biggest wedding magazines. I realized that I had found my calling and have been producing stunning wedding photographs with my amazing team and clients ever since.

Awarded Best of Zola
It was such a pleasure working with Emma Cleary photography and videography. From the start, Emma was great to communicate with and always responded very promptly. She was organized from the start and made planning easy. The crew really captured the day so beautifully and professionally and looking back on the photos and videos makes us so happy. We keep watching the videos over and over! The editing and attention to detail on all of their work is all at such an incredibly high level. The photographers (David, Dilmurad) and the videographer (Kamil) were so fun and easy on the day of the wedding, they knew exactly how to get the perfect shots in a way that didn’t interrupt the flow of the day while still capturing everything so well. When the Groomsmen didn’t know how to properly attach their boutonnieres, the cameraman stepped up to help out and show them how to do it! We were running a bit behind schedule on the Bride’s side during the day of the wedding, but the crew was patient with us and found plenty to take pictures of while we finished getting ready. Emma Cleary’s team were all such fun to work with and we are so thankful for the memories that they captured.

Justin McCallum Photography

New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $6,200

Hi! I’m Justin (he/him) and I’m here to affirm your love, make you feel like a fucking rockstar, and dance like a total fool. Oh, and take so many gorgeous photos of y’all. Obvs. My style blends both documentary photojournalism and fine art photography: coaching folks who are shy in front of the camera, then stepping back to capture authentic moments uninterrupted. I’ve been lucky enough to have my work published by A Practical Wedding, The New York Times, GLAMOUR, People Magazine and many other fabulous outlets. I'm a stereotypical Capricorn that loves drag shows, campy horror films, every dog I meet, and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

Justin was incredible from start to finish. He had every detail of our wedding down, was consistently a joy to work/communicate with and gave us photos that we'll treasure for the rest of our lives. Cannot recommend him enough!

Millie Elangbam Photography
Rating: 5.0 (34 reviews)
New York, NY
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $10,000

Hi, my name is Millie! I picked up a camera 11 years ago and I've been wholeheartedly devoted to this craft ever since. Through photography, I've come to understand that the meaningful connections I form with others hold a special significance for me and should be documented. My journey has naturally directed me toward wedding photography, enabling me to translate your love into art. To me, nothing compares to distilling love into photographs.

Awarded Best of Zola
We first met Millie about four years ago when she was building her photography portfolio and looking for couples to shoot engagement photos with. From the very beginning, we were struck by her kind, calming presence and her incredible eye for capturing authentic moments. We loved her style so much that we asked her to photograph our courthouse wedding soon after—and that was just the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Since then, Millie has been there for nearly every major life moment we've experienced. She took the most stunning boudoir photos for me—something completely out of my comfort zone but made effortless by her professionalism and warmth. I turned those photos into a little book as a gift for my husband when he travels, and it's still one of our favorite keepsakes. Later, when I was pregnant, Millie reached out again about maternity photos. I was really struggling at the time—physically and emotionally—and almost passed on the idea altogether. But Millie gently reminded me how meaningful it could be to capture that season, even if it didn’t feel picture-perfect. I’m so glad we listened. The photos we took just a week before our daughter was born are now some of my most treasured. Shortly after, Millie came to our apartment to do newborn photos with our baby girl. She made the experience so easy and sweet, even during the sleep-deprived chaos of new parenthood. We’ve since moved out of state, but we’ll absolutely continue to reach out to Millie for future milestones—she’s truly become part of our family’s story. It’s been such a joy to watch her work evolve and grow over the years. She brings not only talent and skill to every shoot, but heart. Don’t hesitate for a second—book Millie. She’s the kind of photographer (and person) you want by your side for life’s biggest moments.

My fiancé is Deaf and Ihor made sure to accommodate his instructions to be Deaf friendly by gesturing and positioning us in the right way. In addition to the great attention to detail we received our photos earlier than anticipated which was a great surprise for us! We are a married couple of photographers. Within years of career, we discovered what’s really matters - we want to make people happy. Weddings have it all: new interesting people, touching stories, warm family relationships, tears. A lot of tears! Oh, don’t forget dances and sparklers! It make you think, move and react quickly in constantly changing surrounding. We have no room for mistakes. So It’s never boring! 🙂

They were transparent about pricing and timing and delivered without fail! Our portraits and family photos went very smoothly and we weren’t left wondering what to do every step of the way. Hey there! My name is Emilee, and I am a Minnesota-native living in NYC! I've been photographing people and events for the past 15 years. I shoot families, couples, individuals, and pets, but my passion lies in wedding photography. I love capturing the whirlwind of a couples' big day, and seeing the love that is shared between them and all their wedding guests. It's magical and wonderful every. single. time. My current active markets are Minnesota and New York, but I'm available to travel anywhere in the US and the world for additional fees!

Awarded Best of Zola
What a dream Emilee was to work with, from start to finish. OUR CEREMONY PARTY: we decided on a private, courthouse elopement on a Wednesday, a 60 person reception party on a Friday. In both, our biggest priority was having a photographer capture the intimate, joyful small details. We went with Emilee because of her eye for the beauty in the small things. She captured both our days perfectly. DOCUMENTARY STYLE: Emilee was perfect behind the scenes, capturing beautiful moments of our friends and family, small details of the courthouse with just us. I look back at some of these photos and ask "how did she even get that?!" She has such an eye. POSED: We had about 20 minutes dedicated to posed, family photos during our reception. Emilee had our families relaxed and laughing, quickly swapping members in and out. In some newlywed photos, we sought her advice for how to pose. She gave quick direction, made us feel confident, and always found the perfect light. COMMUNICATION SPEED: Delivered on every promise, quick replies. Emilee was 15 minutes early to both locations, we never had to worry. PERSONALLY: We met with Emilee about 4 months before our big days. We had coffee, talked about our vision and our biggest priorities. She immediately felt like a friend, and knew she was firmly on our team. If you're looking for a photographer to capture not only beautiful photos of yourself, but more importantly, the feeling in every room, Emilee is the photographer for you. We recommend wholeheartedly, and can't wait for another occasion to work with her. Sincerely, Mara James

hey you! thanks for dropping by. my name is shelby, and i am a queer artist and manhattan based photographer who specializes in weddings + equine portraiture. my priority as a photographer is developing a personal relationship with each and every one of my clients (two or four legged). your special moments are their most pure when you are comfortable and ready to just have fun, and i am here to create that joyful space.

Awarded Best of Zola
Shelby is the absolute best! She took engagement photos for my fiancé and I, and we truly could not have asked for a better experience or results. From the moment we booked Shelby, she was communicative, organized, friendly, and just as enthusiastic and excited about taking the photos as we were. She went above and beyond in helping us choose the perfect locations for the shoot and making sure we felt comfortable and were having fun throughout the session. During the shoot, Shelby maintained the perfect balance of encouraging us to do what felt physically comfortable and natural for us, but also wasn't afraid to give us small adjustments (like moving a hand a certain way, shifting the angle of a body, softening a smile slightly, etc.) that ensured the photos looked natural and beautiful. She immediately put both of us at ease and spent time getting to know us by asking questions about our relationship, how we normally interact with each other, if there's anything we definitely did or did not want from the photos, etc. Maybe most importantly - we both had SO much fun during our time with her. Not only are the photos themselves a great keepsake, but it's so nice to be able to think back to our engagement photos as such a joyous, fun experience. The photos Shelby delivered are all gorgeous, and she did an amazing job at capturing a huge variety of poses, backgrounds, lighting, etc. She even went back and did a little extra editing on a couple of photos that we wanted to use for our save the date to ensure we loved absolutely everything about the pictures. I truly could not recommend her more highly!!

Hi, I'm Celeste, I'm from a small town in Spain. Now leaving in NY. I have spent the last seven years getting to know new humans and documenting their stories and connections. How they got into that point of their life, and what makes them light up. I feel it is quite a responsibility and a significant honor to be able to create this legacy for them.

Awarded Best of Zola
Celeste and her team were a joy to work with and genuinely exceeded our expectations. The experience felt easy, professional, and incredibly personal. As two people who do not enjoy being in front of the camera, my husband and I were surprised by how comfortable and relaxed Celeste made us feel. She struck a balance between giving us control over what we wanted and offering thoughtful guidance when we weren’t sure what would photograph best. She suggested poses and locations, but always listened and adjusted if something didn’t feel right. She delivered both the preview and full gallery according to the communicated timeline. As a bride juggling so many moving parts, it was a relief to know that photos were something I never had to worry about. Celeste’s kindness and reliability allowed us to be fully present and trusting that our memories were in the best hands. She and her team captured the moments of our wedding and we LOVED how the photos came out.

hello, we're jarrod and taylor. we originate from florida and now live in new york city documenting love stories across the US and beyond. our journey began 8 years ago when we realized that wedding photography was the most fulfilling thing to us. we like to describe our approach as documentary with an editorial flare. about 80% of the day we are capturing your day as it naturally unfolds in a beautiful way. the other 20% we love to prompt you to create romantic images that have intention and feeling. we love to tell you story as authentically as we can.

People often debate what's most important for a wedding: is it the venue, the food, the flowers... ?  It's the memories, and putting them in the hands of artists who can show you the heart and soul and feel of every moment - moments you can't plan for, you can never adequately take in, and many you would simply miss. Jarrod and Taylor are certainly technically gifted photographers and videographers, but more importantly they are artists whose true love is capturing yours.  The name says it all: The Narrative. My bride Ali and I will be forever grateful that we found and convinced them to tell our story.  I could imagine a thousands different weddings, but none without them by our side. Thank you, Jarrod and Taylor, you beautiful humans, for your truly awesome and unbelievable care, vision, and talents.  You've given us more than we could have ever imagined or even hoped for, through your perfect lens. With love and a lifetime of gratitude, Mike & Ali

I'm in love with human emotions, either it's laughing till it hurts or tears of happiness. When your man hugs you so strong, that you can't breathe or when your dad is crying (for the first time in his life!) listening to your vows at the altar. I do believe, that these un-staged moments are more meaningful than classy portraits on a sunset (but no worries, you'll plenty of both!) If you feel like we are on the same page - let's talk! Write me a few words about who you are, tell me your story and let's create something beautiful together!

After working 10+ years in corporate America in NYC, California and traveling the globe, I found myself wanting more than what the traditional career path had set for me. I stumbled into photography while I was on maternity leave with my oldest and started a side hustle that I had no idea was going to turn into a complete career change years later. From the very first wedding I shot, I knew I was onto something. And ever since then, I haven't looked back.

She was so kind and genuine, and having her there made me feel calm, happy, and truly cared for. So lucky she was our photographer.

I photograph weddings for couples who want something emotionally real and visually distinct — not overly polished. I am more likely to accept bookings with sooner dates - I cannot book further than 1 year out.

My experience working with Bee Roll Media was amazing. My wife and I both needed headshots for new jobs we were starting, and also wanted to do a fun couples shoot for holiday cards. The photographer Brianna made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera and styled us to look our best. I got many compliments from colleagues for how professional my headshot was and was asked if they could get the photographer’s contact to do their own. As for the couples shoot, we had tons of fun. The studio had an awesome retro vibe that totally fit our aesthetic and we felt like we were models in an 80’s catalogue. She even shot on film to boost the retro look! People loved the holiday card we sent out and so did we! 10/10 would definitely recommend!

What do you imagine your wedding to be like? Imagination is a nice gift we have. It helps us building our identities and shaping our individual uniqueness. Imagining carries a degree of anticipation, depending on our past experiences and who we are, of how something that hasn't happened yet is going to be when it actually happens. Like traveling to a place where we've never been before and we take photos of its landscapes and people living there: we tend to capture in those photographs how we had imagined that place. A wedding is a destination in the journey of life, perhaps the most important one.

Hi, I'm Eugene, a professional photographer from Europe. I've been doing photography for more than 14 years and I had an interesting path already: I've worked in Minsk, Berlin, Warsaw, Prague, and Thailand. Currently working in the Tri-state area.

Eugene beautifully captured our perfect day! He was very communicative through the booking process and affordable for extremely high-quality photos. Me and my group were unsure of how to pose, but he made us feel at ease and comfortable by talking us through every photo! He made sure to capture every little detail throughout the day. He sent the photos to us within a few weeks after the wedding, and we couldn't be happier with how they came out!

Known for her easy-going and deeply caring nature with a witty edge, Judson’s appreciation for the beautiful unexpected comes through in her work. She is a natural conversationalist with an uncanny ability to create a lighthearted yet solution-oriented atmosphere. She finds ways to spark humor in the most genuine of ways which helps her couples to fully relax in her presence. Judson first photographed weddings through the lens of photojournalism & history covering LGBTQ+ wedding for fellow queer couples, something that still informs her work and approach today.

Awarded Best of Zola
Just a few minutes into our first conversation with Judson, we knew she was our wedding photographer. She was great to work with — very easy-going, fun and the utmost professional who has a fantastic eye and the patience of a saint for our ... always sort of "extra" family — and dog, Kona, who refused to cooperate with most pictures haha. My husband and I normally shy away from being in front of the camera, but with Judson's energy and personality, our discomfort quickly melted away, and we could just focus on having the best day of our lives. She even got us to dance atop one of the hills on Roosevelt Island, which ended up being some of our favorite pics! By the end of the night, it was like Judson had been part of our family forever. I know she'd be a great addition to your family and wedding, too. We cannot recommend her enough! She really listens to what you want and delivers the most beautiful memories.
