Sylvanside Farm was our first and only venue visit for our daughter’s wedding. The beautiful grounds and historical buildings on the farm made it an easy decision for us all. The owners, Terri and Jeff, have restored their property with utmost respect to its historical charm. Having on site lodging allowed both families to spend quality time together and hosting the rehearsal dinner on site made for an all around relaxing weekend. The curated list of preferred vendors, which Sylvanside provides, was very helpful and each vendor that we selected from their list was top notch. Terri and Jeff were very accommodating and responsive throughout the planning process and I highly recommend their venue for your special day.

My daughter and her husband chose Milton Ridge for their wedding venue. I live on the opposite coast so I had no opportunity to have a look myself. She and her husband were very happy with the layout of the property and the location. She assured me that staff were warm and friendly as well as very professional and that all questions were addressed promptly and in great detail. My daughter and her husband felt listened to and respected by everyone at Milton Ridge. I was anxious but it was their wedding and they had done a lot of research! I am overjoyed that they chose Milton Ridge for their very special day!! I spoke to many guests and family members that day and evening; everyone had high praise for the couple’s choice of venue. The property is self-contained with a beautiful turn of the century chapel on the lower level of the property and a very large bricked patio on the upper level; with an enormous wooden gazebo at one end and tiered garden area at the opposite end. Indoor or outdoor wedding?? Hard to choose as both areas are sooooo lovely. The Bridal suite and Grooms quarter are in a building adjacent to the chapel on the lower level of the property. Another turn of the century building with Bridal suite, porch and porch swing on the ground level and the Grooms quarters on the 2nd level via a private enclosed stairway; providing total privacy for both parties and their respective entourages. Both areas were very well appointed, comfortable and large; plenty of room for multiple people in each area to get ready for the big day! The Reception Hall was on the upper level with a porch and short stairway leading from the hall to the outdoor patio. The Hall was fresh and bright with plenty of room for DJ, tables, dance floor, bar and buffet without feeling overfilled or crowded. Bride and Groom chose the bar-b-que menu for their dinner; it was beautifully presented, delicious and plentiful. No one left Milton Ridge hungry that evening! The wait staff and bartenders were all very attentive and had obviously been very well trained at table service and bar service respectively. Music was provided by a DJ who was contracted by Milton Ridge and was included with the package that my daughter and her husband had chosen. The selection was a mix of old and new with the focus of getting the guests up and dancing. He was very good at his job and he accomplished his goal! Last but definitely not least; the photographer; also contracted with Milton Ridge! He was amazing!!! The unique shots, quality and beauty of his work left us speechless. He was everywhere, but never in the way, always inconspicuous and watching for that perfect candid shot. Even his posed photos had a very relaxed casual look about them. All photos were organized and available to the newlyweds on the Milton Ridge website within 10days of their wedding day!! ALL pictures belong to her and her husband to print, copy and share with whoever they wish!! Milton Ridge exceeded my expectation and I would never hesitate to recommend them to anyone!!

At the end of June 2025, my daughter held her wedding reception at Historic Jasmine. (We had purchased the Weekend Destination package, so my daughter and MANY of her friends enjoyed overnights at Historic Jasmine on Friday and Saturday with the main event held on Saturday.) If I could rate Historic Jasmine with 100 stars I would! From Day One of inquiring about Historic Jasmine, its manager, Ashton, was absolutely FANTASTIC! He remained that way throughout the ENTIRETY of the process as well as AFTERWARDS! Ashton's replies were ALWAYS incredibly prompt and thorough. He picked up on "implied tasks" and provided responses to those as well. He provided input to questions I asked that had nothing to do with Historic Jasmine but with weddings and receptions in general. He spent plenty of time with my daughter and me working out the details. He was ALWAYS willing to help and he always did! Ashton is the face of this family-run business. His fine character and stellar attitude epitomized that of his mom, dad, and brother who work so diligently behind the scenes, most often without notice. I am not exaggerating when I say, "The entire family is AMAZING, truly amazing!" (When I met the dad and brother, I felt as if I were speaking with Ashton! :)) Without doubt, Historic Jasmine reflects this family's time, effort, and attention to create a PHENOMENAL venue! It is a STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL place, outside and inside! GORGEOUS, VIBRANT landscaping surrounded by woods outside - historical and nostalgic decor inside mixed with modern conveniences (to include abundant bathrooms) - are at the ready to warmly welcome guests. Our caterer - Edwards Catering - was thrilled to learn we had contracted with Historic Jasmine. He has catered there for more than 15 years and greatly appreciates its setup for his services. Speaking of food, I am reminded that my daughter and her friends were pleasantly surprised to find coffee and breakfast items awaiting them in the kitchen in the morning - we did not know such was part of the weekend package so they were thrilled to discover such! I could go on and on about our positive experiences with Historic Jasmine! I will summarize by saying, in my opinion, having checked out a plethora of venues, Historic Jasmine was and is THE ABSOLUTE BEST VENUE! Without question, it is a reflection of the family who runs it, also THE ABSOLUTE BEST!

Our first experience with LFB was in November 2023 for a friend’s wedding. My boyfriend and I at the time had started talking about the next step and how perfect this location was for a wedding. We ended up reaching out to Duncan in February 2024 to ask for a tour. Duncan gave us the full tour including the on property guest house, and we were SOLD! We signed our contract and paid the deposit that weekend. Duncan and Suzanne are so wonderful to work with too! They work with you on breaking down payments for when things are due and respond within 24 hours. As we got closer to our wedding date Duncan let us come out and tour everything again and answered all of my last minute questions. Suzanne was amazing at communicating day of lists and clean up. During our set up on Friday, Duncan came over to make sure the AC was good and if we needed anything. They had the tables and chairs closet unlocked and ready for us to set up when we got there. They give you a 4 hour window for rehearsal time but are very willing to work with you if you need more. The day of our wedding they had onsite staff to help with any issues and make sure everything went smooth on their end. Duncan personally came over after our ceremony and congratulated us and joined our celebration for some pictures. If you want a nice quiet spacious venue with amazing views, perfect golden hour picture spots, and awesome owners this is your place! All of our wedding guests raved about how perfect the barn is and how beautiful the natural wood work looks. Thank you Duncan and Suzanne for being part of our day! The Dances 11/8/2025

The Carolyn Baldwin Lake Pavilion is named after our dear loved one, Carolyn Varner Baldwin, who unexpectedly passed away in 2008 due to an allergic reaction. She was the matriarch of our family and a beautiful, one-in-a-billion type of person with a generous and loving spirit. She was a talented gardener, a devoted fisherwoman who could out-fish the best of 'em (we're talking "sun-up-til-sundown" kind of fishing), was creative and artsy, and never knew a stranger. We felt it only fitting to name this lovely place in her memory. We are a family-operated business. Joanna is the General Manager and works with each client to accommodate varying event needs. She handles a wide range of aspects of the business, from answering questions about what will make your event run smoothly to giving you layout suggestions. We had an amazing experience at The Hatcher Farm! The venue truly had everything we needed and had thought of all the little details — from supplies to decorations — which made planning and the big day so much easier. Both the indoor and outdoor spaces were beautiful and worked perfectly for our wedding. Our guests loved the atmosphere, and it really felt like the whole day flowed seamlessly. The only thing I would suggest is having a bit more space in the bridal room, but overall, that’s such a small detail compared to how wonderful everything else was. We are so happy we chose The Hatcher Farm and would highly recommend it to any couple looking for a beautiful, well-prepared venue for their wedding!

Cloverdale Barn is a fantastic venue! We got married there just over a year ago and still have the most vivid memories of the day, the surroundings and all the love we felt that day!! The people of Cloverdale Barn helped with that is so many ways. Claire is the one who I (bride) was in contact with throughout the whole process and she is so heartwarming and comforting! Very easy to work with and she makes you feel like family! From all the prep work, all the up to the last moment when we left the property through the sparkler line, Claire was there. They have several options to help you customize your event the way you want and Claire was open to the variations. We of course used it for our wedding and having the bridal suite on site was an added bonus for my day. I really liked how on the day of our wedding Claire added some pops of color to match our wedding colors with flowers in the outside flowers pots and table clothes on the bridal suite tables. She really does take the time to make your day feel extra special and I will forever be grateful to her and remember that day!!

Overall, we were happy with our wedding at Briar Patch. I’m going to give an honest review about our experience below with both good things and some things to consider. Even with some things not going perfectly, we feel that we would choose this venue again if we had the choice. We were very happy with: 1. The ability to have a wedding weekend here for a relatively low price, the ability to have our rehearsal, welcome dinner, wedding ceremony, wedding reception, and breakfast on Sunday all at the same place but in different spaces onsite. This was very convenient and our entire wedding party could stay onsite with us. We enjoyed this. They gave my husband a Veteran’s discount, which we very much appreciated. The property is gorgeous, and we made use at our November wedding of the mountains in the background. T This fit our vision of a romantic rural venue that was elegant, but not pretentious, with lovely views. 2. Dan and Ellen were very nice to me and my husband. They brought us breakfast in the cottage on our wedding day so we could have a quiet breakfast together before the day started. That’s what we wanted. The Chef made my mom a special breakfast sandwich to order in the morning. They were accommodating about us bringing in lunch on Friday for the wedding party, snacks on the wedding day, and doing a customized breakfast for us on Sunday. We appreciated their ability to be flexible. 3. The fall colors were perfect, the horse was on property, we got amazing pictures under the stars, and we loved being able to make use of all of the spaces onsite for our different events. The scenery was really picturesque! The reception hall is perfect for a wedding reception and plenty of space for dancing. The location was close to Dulles for people to fly in and get there easily. 4. The cottage for the couple was fun and the kitchenette was nice. The bathtub was nice, and it was a good space for all of the ladies to get ready in on the day of the wedding, hang out, and have snacks. 5. On Friday night, we had a country western party themed welcome party and dinner in the space outside of the ballroom. We had adequate space to turn that space into a dance floor (near the fireplace) and set up food/drinks and tables for 50 in that space. Dan recommended Hammerdown BBQ, which is very nearby. We had people raving about the BBQ, saying it was the best cornbread they had ever had, and the best brisket. Things that could have been improved: 1. The rooms are quirky and there are insects and rodents around. If that is a deal breaker, than this may not be the place for you. It is rustic! That's part of the charm and also comes with some things that are unavoidable. 2. There are not bathrooms in all of the rooms and for some people in our wedding party, that was an issue. 3. There was some lack in communication between the owners and our wedding coordinators and caterer. 4. There were some issues where our coordinators couldn’t find Dan, Ellen, or staff on the day of the wedding when they needed them. 5. Some spots around the venue are not easily handicap accessible and there are not bathrooms at every site. Overall, we are satisfied with our choice to go with Briar Patch. It was a great choice and we have many happy memories and beautiful pictures from that day. For a wedding weekend near the DC area, you can’t beat the value and beauty of this venue!

The Manor at Airmont is an absolutely stunning venue resting in the mountains of Round Hill, VA. They are an all-inclusive venue with a team comprised of mostly family. From start to finish, the team catered to our interests and really focused on creating a wedding that was memorable and unique to us. Every single member of the Manor team was so friendly and professional and made us feel extremely special. It was so nice giving a general vision to wedding planner Natallia and seeing what she and her team came up with to bring it to life...and boy did they DELIVER. They gave us the maximalist, royal court wedding of our dreams! Guests were blown away by the decor and people are still raving about the amazing food created by Zesty Gourmet. It was such a beautiful experience throughout and guests still call me up to tell me it was the BEST wedding they have ever been to. The best part? We planned our wedding with the Manor in just under a year with ZERO stress. I honestly couldn’t have picked a better venue than Waverly Estate. There’s no venue like it that gives you the flexibility of coming in on Friday & staying until Sunday. We had no worries about clean up after the reception or scrambling the morning of between a hotel & the venue for getting ready. On top of all of that, the all inclusive package that Waverly has is NEXT LEVEL. I didn’t have to search for vendors because Waverly had them already available & built into my package. It was an absolute dream to have one less thing to stress about. Their coordinator, Rachel, is absolutely amazing too. She answered every question I had & was the best cheerleader for us on wedding day. She had everything completely organized & made my vision come true for our wedding. My wedding was a dream come true, in huge part to the team at Waverly Estate.

The moment I saw Bohemia Overlook, I knew it was the Wedding venue for us. The Venue is affordable and offers a good amount of accommodations that other venues do not and would cost extra even. The little things do matter, it adds up as we all know. The Venue kept in great contact with me and responded to me right away with questions I had through the whole experience and worked with me. Such a beautiful Venue. Was nervous when I found out a new owner took over, but realized quickly I didn’t need to be. The new owners kept up with the same pace of communication and response time and even on our Wedding day they greeted us and made sure everything was going good. We even got a beautiful view of the water on the hill for some wedding photos. My Wife and I enjoy coming here for different events and the wine room when it’s open. This place will forever be a cherished memory and not everyone can say that they can go back to where they got married. So much more to say about this place, but without going on a rant, just know this place is amazing. To even include how beautiful the barn looks upstairs at night, wasn’t expecting that since we usually see it during the day.

The Maine of Williamsburg was a dream to wedding plan at and the staff were more than accommodating to plan with. After booking The Maine in June 2022, we finally had our picture perfect day this May 2024. The day was beautiful and all of our vendors were amazing. Tracy and her staff at The Maine are very understanding about the inconsistencies with event planning, and we’re more very helpful recommending vendors that were familiar with the space. If I chose to use an outside vendor, the staff easily worked with my preferred vendors to establish the necessary contacts and paperwork. Overall, my planning process was stress free knowing I had a gorgeous venue with a beautiful outdoor ceremony space, including microphones and speakers, and a well maintained interior for an inside reception. There was plenty of space for my guests. The bathrooms were well kept, with plenty available to accommodate my 130 guests. Also, the interior of the facilities are nice and COOL—the AC was much needed after a hot and humid spring wedding. No amount of praise for Tracy and her staff will ever feel like enough. Book The Maine NOW, if you want to have the wedding, or event, of your dreams.

October tends to be the most popular month for wedding inquiries so keep that in mind when planning your special day.

What Makes Virginia Wedding Venues So Special?

Each Virginia region offers completely different venue experiences. Northern Virginia gives you sophisticated estates near DC with easy access to international airports for out-of-town guests. You should definitely visit potential venues during your preferred wedding season to see exactly how lighting conditions and climate will affect your big day. Ask specifically about vendor policies since Virginia venues range from all-inclusive packages to complete vendor flexibility where you can bring in your own team.

For comprehensive wedding planning consider using services that offer vendor marketplaces with detailed information on capacity amenities and pricing. These often include registry and guest management systems that make your entire planning process much smoother from start to finish.
