About this venue

Nestled amongst the Blue Ridge Mountains, Batten Green is a historic 19th century estate that was once a fully operational farm and barn. Today, as a stunning 12-acre venue, spectacular pastoral and mountains views can be seen from every corner. Located just three miles from historic downtown Staunton, Batten Green provides guests with the convenience of being near everything. However, once you arrive under the trademark stone railroad batten bridge, you'll feel the hustle and bustle melt away as you take in the sereneness and seclusion of our grounds. At Batten Green, we offer the flexibility of a full wedding weekend package with luxury on-site lodging. The Solarium

Batten Green’s stunning indoor event space provides a superb setting for a rehearsal dinner, welcoming area, or farewell brunch.

This space can accommodate up to 32 guests for a plated meal or 50+ for a cocktail-style reception with two TVs to display slideshows of the happy couple, and a bluetooth speaker. The solarium is adjoined to the Manor House Harvest Room, which can accommodate an additional 12 guests for a plated meal.

Located off of The Solarium, the Terrace & Great Lawn is a convenient and spacious option for Cocktail Hour.

The Terrace features high-top barrel tables, a reclaimed wood bar, and cafe lighting that illuminates the space. Stepping into the picturesque Great Lawn naturally shaded by beautiful old trees and a gazebo, guests can envision the many potential uses of the open area for different activities throughout the weekend. The gum tree in the Great Lawn also makes for a beautiful secondary ceremony space!

Furnished with modern but romantic pieces, our bridal suite offers ample room for the bridal party to pamper and perfect themselves!

Our bridal suite is equipped with an area for changing, sitting section with comfy chairs and large TV, a vanity wall with multiple prep stations and superb makeup lighting, a large floor mirror, dress hooks & hangers and easy access to a half bathroom and the kitchen for refilling those champagne glasses. Clink! For the groomsmen, the common area of The Suites at Batten Green provides an ideal space for buttoning those cuff links, allowing for plenty of separation from the bridal areas.

Description

Client and vendors may gain access to the Manor House and grounds beginning at 12pm Friday. Check-in for all Lodging Suites begins at 3pm Friday. Checkout for the entire property is by 12pm on day of departure. All rented items and garbage must be removed by guests or vendors by this time.

    The best wedding venue

    We picked this venue for a few reasons: beautiful mountain scenery and hillsides, the ability for us, our family, and our friends to stay on the property for the whole weekend, and it is so dog friendly! I couldn't have asked for a better venue. They were so easy to work with and communicated so well. They were very detailed in what they needed from me so I was never confused. They also went above and beyond, when we arrived they had a welcome basket complete with s'mores supplies, a custom pillow for us, and more. I absolutely loved my beautiful wedding weekend and it is all because of Batten Green.

    Batten Green is an amazing venue to work with for a wedding day. Gorgeous views, and magical reception space as the sun goes down! This venue is such a unique backdrop for wedding day photos. We highly recommend!

    The Best Venue in the Shenandoah Valley!

    Batten Green is a beautiful venue with great views, beautiful lodging options, and a helpful team! This is one of the best venues in the area that has so much in-house, and sets the bar high for the wedding industry in the Shenandoah Valley/Staunton area!

    Beautiful Venue with Kind & Humble Owners

    As a wedding vendor (florist), I've had the honor of working at Batten Green several times and also have been a guest at an event here. Chase and Stephanie are gracious and go overboard making the experience easy and wonderful for their clients, guests, and vendors. I've been surprised by the humble way they approach hosting their venue, always willing to go the extra mile. I highly recommend getting married at Batten Green. With beautiful views and thoughtful touches for their guests/clients, you will absolutely be making the right choice!

The Venue does not provide staff or personnel. The Client is responsible for hiring their own vendors to set up tables, chairs and other rentals as well as decorate, cater, officiate, coordinate and clean up. Batten Green will have one manager on duty (MOD) present on the day of your wedding to drive the golf cart and be present for any venue-related questions. The Venue’s MOD does not take the place of the day-of coordinator, who is to be hired directly by Client as outlined below, and will not be available to assist with moving furniture, catering, etc.
The furnishings in The Solarium, Harvest Room, and Terrace are included. Batten Green does not provide additional tables, chairs or other decorations/rentals, however the vendors on our Preferred Vendor List offer a great variety of different items to curate your perfect design at a special discounted rate for our clients.
When you decide to move forward, an agreement will be sent to both parties for signatures. Upon signing the agreement, the initial payment of 50% of total package fee is due within 7 days. Your date will not be officially reserved until the initial payment has been received. The final payment of the remaining balance + 5.3% Virginia Sales Tax is due 60 days prior to the event date. All payments must be paid by check or wire, credit or debit cards are not accepted. In lieu of taking a traditional security deposit, we require a credit card be held on file in case of damages.
Yes, at the minimum, the Client must employ a day-of coordinator to help facilitate all of the activities on the day of the Event. We have always found a day-of coordinator to be of tremendous help to the wedding party. Our recommendations can be found in our Preferred Vendor List.
- If serving alcohol, you must hire a caterer or bartender with an ABC license, or obtain your own ABC Banquet License. - General Liability Insurance -- If serving alcohol, liquor liability must be added -- For your convenience, Venue is affiliated with Vensura - an easy and affordable way to purchase liability insurance; a link will be provided after booking - Event Cancellation Insurance is strongly recommended in the case of unforeseen events
We provide onsite overnight accommodations for up to 28 persons. The accommodations in the Manor House and Cottage are included as a part of the package price with no reservations required. The Suites at Batten Green are blocked for your party exclusively. A link will be provided that you can send to your select guests to book their reservation directly, which takes the financial and logistical burden off of you. We will not open up these suites to be booked by anyone outside of your party, and in doing so we require a guarantee for all rooms to be booked by you or your guests. Your block will receive a special discounted rate.
The Manor House and grounds can be accessed beginning at 12pm Friday. Check-in for All Lodging Suites begins at 3pm Friday. Checkout for all rooms is noon on day of departure. Vendors also have access to the property beginning at 12pm Friday. Vendors are not allowed access to the property until such time. All items and garbage must be removed by 12pm on the day of your departure. We provide a dumpster on-site for your use.
After your venue tour and contract signing, an additional site visit is allowed 30-45 days prior to your event date. This visit must be made by appointment only during regular business hours Monday-Friday, in order to respect the privacy of other guests and events. Appointment to be requested at least one week before your preferred visit date. You may view virtual tours of all Batten Green facilities on our website anytime.
We welcome decorations, such as flowers, balloons, signage and LED lighting. Glitter and confetti are prohibited. Open flames are not permitted including fireworks and Chinese lanterns. We do not allow anything to be applied to the walls or building that will cause damage. Any damage found from nails, glue, staples or command strips may result in fees.
We can accommodate everything from DJ's to full bands. City of Staunton ordinance requires amplified music to be quieted by 10pm however you are welcome to continue the fun with personal speakers after that point.
All items and garbage must be removed by 12pm on the day of your departure. Trash cans for the reception are provided by the Venue, however you and your vendors are responsible for placing all bagged trash in the dumpster located on-site. The entire property will receive a professional cleaning upon departure. We kindly ask, as we are opening up our private property for you and your guests, for all areas of the property to be respectfully and reasonably maintained throughout the weekend.
You are permitted to use additional vendors not on our preferred list, however all vendors must be licensed and insured.
Yes! Suites 7 & 8 in the Suites at Batten Green are dog-friendly as is the Manor House and Cottage. Dogs are welcome to be included in your ceremony! If your furry friends will be joining you, please come prepared with waste bags and leashes. Please help us keep our property in excellent condition by not allowing pets on the furniture.
The Overlook’s large tented footprint provides a perfect inclement weather plan for weddings of 125-150 or less, with ample space to set up the ceremony on one side of the tent and reception on the other. Larger weddings may choose to “flip” the space during cocktail hour. You may also choose to rent a second tent to cover your ceremony site at Shenandoah Hills or the Great Lawn. The Overlook event tent has sidewalls that can be installed for no extra charge in case of inclement weather.
Yes, you are permitted to serve alcohol during your event. In order to do so, you or your caterer must procure an ABC License. Proof of license is required to be submitted to Batten Green at least 60 days in advance of your event. Friends and family are not permitted to serve alcohol; all bartenders must be licensed and insured. Many caterers hold their own ABC licenses which allows their staff to serve alcohol. Check with your caterer before applying for your own license. Alcohol may not served to anyone under the age of 21. It is the responsibility of the Client to ensure all Virginia ABC guidelines are adhered to.
We have complimentary on-site self parking for up to 50 vehicles. Our attended golf cart will be available on your wedding day to assist with shuttling guests to and from the event parking lot, though it is not a far walk to the event areas.
