“I had my eye on The Grove at Briar Barn Inn since it was simply a blueprint on an Instagram post. From the start, I knew it was going to be where I would get married someday. There is just something so quintessentially charming about the post and beam restaurant and the quaint New England Inn. The entire experience working with The Grove was great. We picked December 8th for not only the idea of a winter wedding but also for the holiday decor and availability for our preferred vendors. They were flexible in putting together the details and stuck to all the outlined dates and deadlines. We were assigned our wedding coordinator, Jeannine, about six weeks out as they said, and we were able to have our wedding details meeting soon after. The payment portal was easy to use, and the planning pod was intuitive and a great spot to keep important details in order. Jeannine answered all my questions promptly, and in the week leading up to the wedding, she was available for us to drop off all the decor ahead of time and spent time reviewing our vision one last time. On the day of, she was present, available, and helpful. She was detailed and organized and never pushy. She let us have our day and was there to help transition to the different elements seamlessly, paying attention to all the details so we wouldn't have to. Our guests have had only positive things to say about the entire day from the incredible food and the overall atmosphere. The only critique I have of the entire experience is the check-in process at the Inn. We had a 20 room block and ended up with 29 of the 30 rooms booked by our guests. The Inn has a very strict 2pm early check-in for 50 fee or 3pm otherwise check-in. We had a Sunday wedding in December where we had a first look and formal portraits at 2pm before a 4:00 ceremony because of the early sunset. We weren't able to stay Saturday night due to another wedding buy-out. The Grove accommodated me by making the hospitality suite available for us to get ready in; however, the Inn did not accommodate the groom getting ready. We rented out the Silo/Library for 250 to try to have a space for the men to get ready, but they didn't set up the privacy screen and there were too many people milling around for him to get changed in the non-private space. After a lot of inquiry from our wedding coordinator, our officiant, and our makeup artist, they finally let him into the room at 1:45 for the additional 50, but at that point it was only enough time for him to drop his phone and wallet. He ended up changing in the single stall bathroom in the basement of the Inn, which is a nice bathroom of course, but we would have liked a little more flexibility for us to have 1 room with early check-in to give him a bit more privacy. Flipping one room early for the bride and groom doesn't seem like a lot to ask in the grand scheme of the day or even offering some alternatives - we likely would have paid for a full extra night even if we couldn't get into the room the night before just to have the spot, but they didn't give us any options to work with until 1:45 p.m. ahead of 2pm call time. My recommendation for future couples is to negotiate into the wedding contract for something ahead of time if you could potentially run into the same issue, especially if you're out of towners who don't have other options nearby.”

From the first email, Mary was beyond helpful and communicative. She made the entire process as smooth as possible. I always felt like she had it under control! She even let us drop off our decor a couple weeks in advance, and then her and her team handled all of the setup. Although I was extremely involved in the planning during my engagement, Mary made it easy to enjoy the day and forget about all of the little things. The convenience of the Colonial Grille made it easy to continue on to our after party. The food was great and so were the drinks! The best part was finishing pictures and immediately having Mary deliver my new husband & I our signature cocktails without having to ask. “I can’t recommend 1620 enough. They went above and beyond for our wedding from the second. We signed the contract. They had everything taken care of. The only thing we had to do was find a DJ and find a photographer or videographer we got to do all the fun stuff, tastings, final meetings, walk-through they took care of everything behind the scenes. We didn’t have to worry about a thing when one of their vendors who does the draping decorations and lighting unfortunately wasn’t available for my wedding day, Franque somehow got trapping and lighting for our ballroom space. I still have no idea how she did it, but it was there for our wedding and it was absolutely gorgeous. It was exactly what I wanted. Little details like this is just an example of the many things that they did to go above beyond making sure that there was no issues whatsoever on wedding day. Our ceremony went off perfectly. They have an outdoor ceremony space we utilized, an in file meeting. We discussed backup plans if the weather didn’t cooperate which thankfully it did (balmy 73 on 10/4/25). The food was incredible. We did the filet and the chicken saltimboca. They have incredible all-inclusive packages that include different variations of sit down or buffet dinners open bar specialty drinks past hors d’oeuvres. There’s a couple different tiers. The value for our money was amazing compared to a lot of other places around the South Shore. We got the best bang for a buck and I would do it again.”

I did have a few different wedding coordinators throughout the process but they all were very helpful and communicated well with one another when switching to a different coordinator. Ruth and Kari- the best of the best! Responded quickly if I had any questions or concerns. We had our ceremony and reception at the Hilton. Kari and Alli (director of banquets)- words cannot even express how grateful I felt having both of them help with the ceremony entrances as we had an odd amount of people in the wedding party. Kari and Alli were both there the day of our wedding and made sure everything was set up the way I envisioned it. “We had our wedding at the Marriott Long Wharf October 7 2023 and everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish. Meg Garruto is a true gem and was a dream to work with! We were actually booked at another venue and after some issues we decided we needed to find another venue and actually booked Long Wharf site unseen. Our original venue not working our was the biggest blessing in disguise. The attention to details and the accessibility to answer any questions we had was above and beyond. There was absolutely no stress in wedding planning thanks to Meg and her team. We also were so impressed with the food! From the cocktail hour to late night snacks everything was perfect. Our guests have been raving about the service and the food for the past week! The location of the hotel and the views are worth booking for alone. If you are looking to book a Boston area hotel for your wedding I would seriously consider booking long wharf before it’s too late! We are already looking into visiting for our one year anniversary (and we are not locals!) because we love the hotel so much!”

“The Colonnade was our venue for our September 2025 wedding reception. The entire team was so attentive, responsive, adaptable, and friendly - from the planning process, to our check-in experience, to the servers and bartenders in the Huntington ballroom throughout the event. Our hotel block was easy to plan and all our guests really enjoyed their stays, commenting how everything was top-notch. I cannot give enough thanks to Geena, she was with us every step of the way and helped us navigate planning such a large and meaningful event. She ensured every detail was remembered, was so attentive throughout the year leading up to the big day, and was a true joy to work with - for us and our team of vendors. She helped us and all of our guests feel welcome the entire weekend. Wedding planning is a big task to take on but it was great to not have to worry about many details because I knew I could count on Geena! Chef Nick was wonderful to work with from presenting our tasting and sharing stories behind his delicious recipes, allowing us to use the Rooftop Pool for our first look photos, working with us to customize our menu and dessert table, and stopping by during our meal to make sure everything was how we wanted and more. The food and service was simply outstanding and the Huntington Ballroom was a beautiful and elegant space. I cannot recommend hosting your wedding at The Colonnade more - the level of care we received from the initial inquiry to the day we checked out was unmatched.”

Mindy, Jayme and their team were phenomenal to work with, from our first visit to the venue through the end of our big day. The packages make stressful wedding prep more bearable and their preferred vendors are all top notch. The food is incredible (not an easy thing to find at weddings); the hors d’oeuvres and meal options allow something for everyone. If in doubt, we still hear from people about how great the short rib was! The convenience factor cannot be overstated. “I could not speak more highly of this venue!!! From the location to their employees, everything is over the top. I work with Makenzie from the events department regularly, and she is always available to take my call and responds to my email within 24 hours (which is hard to find around here). The view is also incredible.. you can get married on the porch overlooking the Edgartown Lighthouse. How perfect is that? I love working with everyone at this hotel so much that I even decided to book the Harbor View Hotel for my own wedding this coming July! If you are looking for a wedding venue on Martha's Vineyard... this is your spot!!”
