“It’s taken us practically a year to write this review because it’s been so difficult to put into words just how amazing Tom Schelling is. Something someone told us before we got married was that the only thing you have from your wedding day are the pictures you’ve taken. Of course, the spouse and the memories, but the pictures are the only tangible thing you keep with you to look back on. So, when we started the process to find a photographer, it was very important to us that we found someone we were comfortable around, someone who truly felt like a friend- and that’s exactly how we felt (and still feel) about Tom and his wife Heather Schelling, whom we hired as videographer. Throughout the entire process, from signing the contracts, to shooting our engagement shoot on the opposite side of the country, to our wedding day, Tom and Heather have been there for us every step of the way. Tom has been so organized and communicative throughout the entire process and just so thoughtful in everything he does, from mailing us his wedding guide (super helpful) to the beautiful prints he sent once he completed editing. Like a lot of weddings, ours had some tough family dynamics to contend with. Tom handled the situation and everyone involved with such grace and professionalism, that we hardly noticed or felt any of the tension we expected, allowing our wedding day to flow that much more smoothly. On that same note, Tom was able to make any changes in schedule on the day of feel nonexistent as far as getting the photos done. All the scheduling, conversations, organization, planning, and worrying aside, the main part of the job, the photos themselves, was unmatched. We are continually so impressed with the quality of Tom’s work, and would recommend him over and over again.”

“We had our wedding on the rooftop of Greats of Craft in September. We COULD NOT be happier with how the event turned out!!! First and foremost, Joe & Stella are awesome to work with - such friendly and genuine people. They made the planning process as stress-free as it could be, by being communicative, dependable, and accommodating. We already loved the venue, but meeting with them made it an easy decision to choose GoC. We held a mini-ceremony and the reception on the rooftop for 60 people. We wanted it to be less formal (like an “elevated party”) but still trendy, and GoC checked all the boxes. The vibes and setting were PERFECTION: the backdrop of the Queensboro Bridge at dusk for our ceremony; cute string lights with a brick wall and large screen for our slideshow, perfect weather, plenty of room for people to mingle, sit down to eat, and dance. The ENTIRE GoC team/staff were amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and took great care of us and all of our guests. Shout out to Trey and Eddie!! We went with in-house catering for the food - Chef Chris is the best and everything tasted delicious!!! We got SO many compliments on the food from our guests. We still continue to rave about GoC being such a gem of an event space. Trying to find a reasonably-priced, high-quality wedding venue in NYC is difficult and sometimes discouraging. We feel so fortunate that we were able to have our wedding celebration here, it felt like a complete DREAM!!! Thank you, Joe & Stella and the whole GoC crew!!”

A highlight I want to note in my review is how professional and kind their barista was. The coffee enthusiasts of our bunch had so much fun asking questions and learning about their workflow and craft coffee process. Our friends and family also really enjoyed trying drinks that they may not have tried otherwise, and had only great things to say about them! Plus, coffeecake3. We also found their offerings to be at a great value. Their communication, attention to detail, and rates make it clear that their heart and passion is in the coffee and connection. They made a custom menu for us and, in addition to standard offerings, had decaf, alternative milks, flavor syrups, chai, teas, and hot cocoa available. There was absolutely something for everyone! The Elm Roastery coffee cart would be a lovely addition to any gathering, but for us personally, it was also a great way to offer something fun and new drink-wise after a late lunch as we did not have alcohol at our celebration. If you are also looking at throwing a sober wedding (or any other kind of wedding), I would highly recommend and consider having the Elm coffee cart! Elm Roastery is a Queens gem and they added such warmth and joy to our day. You should 100% message Peter. Like right now. P.S. you can preview their coffee at their cafe in Elmhurst so you don't have to just take my word for it!”

She was the first photographer who’s portfolio we fell for in our search, and while trying to budget and explore other options, we made our way back to Marilyn and questioned why we ever even bothered looking anywhere else. We did a round of engagement photos with her first, after an initial zoom to meet and get to know her. From the zoom alone we could tell right away what kind of sweet, wonderful, magical person she was. I felt like I was talking to an old friend immediately. During our engagement shoot, which myself and my now husband were SO nervous for (we are both awkward and camera shy, and I don’t know how to stop running my mouth during photos because of it) she made us laugh SO many times and immediately melted our anxieties away. She is and was such a treat and added the kindest most comforting attitude and energy to our day, and all of our family and bridal party agree along with us (we got quite a few “where and how did you find her??”s). We also added a second shooter via Marilyn (who was also sincerely lovely) for just one hour, during our pre-ceremony and ceremony, for a little extra coverage and timeline speed, and a roll of film which was so much fun too. “We had the pleasure of hosting our intimate wedding for just over 50 guests at the Renaissance Event Hall in May 2024. The event space is beautiful— although the surrounding area is a bit rough, it’s a space that’s large enough to really bring your vision to life. Originally, our ceremony was supposed to be held on the outdoor patio but after a “rain plan” rehearsal we decided to have the ceremony indoors to make use of the beautiful grand staircase. Affordable space— for NYC? Absolutely. Food— great! Bar— great! Staff— amazing! Shout out to Larry for the amazing lighting. Both Larry and Lisa went above and beyond to make sure guests were served, comfortable, and having a great time. My only wish was that there was a separate groom suite that’s apart from the bridal suite. Here we had to use a foldable partition to separate the bride side from the groom side. Also, our rehearsal was double booked with another wedding party the day before our wedding which was a bit disappointing having to wait and navigate around their rehearsal to complete ours. However, this just seemed to be a simple miscommunication between Lisa and her assistant which I’m hoping won’t be the case with another bride/groom. Overall, it was the perfect space to host our wedding. Lisa was such a pleasure to work with and had such great insights on how to bring together the event in a manner that made the best use of the space. Thank you to the Renaissance Event Hall team!”
