“It’s taken us practically a year to write this review because it’s been so difficult to put into words just how amazing Tom Schelling is. Something someone told us before we got married was that the only thing you have from your wedding day are the pictures you’ve taken. Of course, the spouse and the memories, but the pictures are the only tangible thing you keep with you to look back on. So, when we started the process to find a photographer, it was very important to us that we found someone we were comfortable around, someone who truly felt like a friend- and that’s exactly how we felt (and still feel) about Tom and his wife Heather Schelling, whom we hired as videographer. Throughout the entire process, from signing the contracts, to shooting our engagement shoot on the opposite side of the country, to our wedding day, Tom and Heather have been there for us every step of the way. Tom has been so organized and communicative throughout the entire process and just so thoughtful in everything he does, from mailing us his wedding guide (super helpful) to the beautiful prints he sent once he completed editing. Like a lot of weddings, ours had some tough family dynamics to contend with. Tom handled the situation and everyone involved with such grace and professionalism, that we hardly noticed or felt any of the tension we expected, allowing our wedding day to flow that much more smoothly. On that same note, Tom was able to make any changes in schedule on the day of feel nonexistent as far as getting the photos done. All the scheduling, conversations, organization, planning, and worrying aside, the main part of the job, the photos themselves, was unmatched. We are continually so impressed with the quality of Tom’s work, and would recommend him over and over again.”

“We had our wedding on the rooftop of Greats of Craft in September. We COULD NOT be happier with how the event turned out!!! First and foremost, Joe & Stella are awesome to work with - such friendly and genuine people. They made the planning process as stress-free as it could be, by being communicative, dependable, and accommodating. We already loved the venue, but meeting with them made it an easy decision to choose GoC. We held a mini-ceremony and the reception on the rooftop for 60 people. We wanted it to be less formal (like an “elevated party”) but still trendy, and GoC checked all the boxes. The vibes and setting were PERFECTION: the backdrop of the Queensboro Bridge at dusk for our ceremony; cute string lights with a brick wall and large screen for our slideshow, perfect weather, plenty of room for people to mingle, sit down to eat, and dance. The ENTIRE GoC team/staff were amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and took great care of us and all of our guests. Shout out to Trey and Eddie!! We went with in-house catering for the food - Chef Chris is the best and everything tasted delicious!!! We got SO many compliments on the food from our guests. We still continue to rave about GoC being such a gem of an event space. Trying to find a reasonably-priced, high-quality wedding venue in NYC is difficult and sometimes discouraging. I have to preface that we knew Elm Roastery very well before our wedding. They've established a place in the Elmhurst community for their excellent beverages made with a rotating selection of beans freshly-roasted on-site, delicious pastries, and for their dedication to creating a special space for community events and partnerships. We often frequented their cafe before our wedding, and every time we return for coffee now, it brings back warm memories. We were ecstatic to discover their coffee cart service, and quickly booked them for our wedding. We added-on ube lattes and 40 almond croissants, and custom cups & banner. They more than delivered, the design was elegant and charming! Our guests quickly snatched up the croissants, and were lined up for the coffee throughout the booking. It was a huge hit. We used our newlyweds' privilege to skip the line and managed to grab coffee and croissants for a much needed break in our fun but busy day. Compared to the gut-wrenching quotes from our other vendors (catering, photo, makeup), it was clear they offered a great value, without the severe "wedding tax" you'll see from your other vendors. It was a no-brainer for us. You won't regret hiring them for your wedding; we certainly didn't. They were one of the most memorable amenities at our wedding -- a treat for us, as much as it is for our guests. And you'll be happy to know you're supporting a small-business that is truly dedicated to improving the local community.”

“We had the pleasure of hosting our intimate wedding for just over 50 guests at the Renaissance Event Hall in May 2024. The event space is beautiful— although the surrounding area is a bit rough, it’s a space that’s large enough to really bring your vision to life. Originally, our ceremony was supposed to be held on the outdoor patio but after a “rain plan” rehearsal we decided to have the ceremony indoors to make use of the beautiful grand staircase. Affordable space— for NYC? Absolutely. Food— great! Bar— great! Staff— amazing! Shout out to Larry for the amazing lighting. Both Larry and Lisa went above and beyond to make sure guests were served, comfortable, and having a great time. My only wish was that there was a separate groom suite that’s apart from the bridal suite. Here we had to use a foldable partition to separate the bride side from the groom side. Also, our rehearsal was double booked with another wedding party the day before our wedding which was a bit disappointing having to wait and navigate around their rehearsal to complete ours. However, this just seemed to be a simple miscommunication between Lisa and her assistant which I’m hoping won’t be the case with another bride/groom. Overall, it was the perfect space to host our wedding. Lisa was such a pleasure to work with and had such great insights on how to bring together the event in a manner that made the best use of the space. Thank you to the Renaissance Event Hall team!”

“Courtney was the wedding planner of a wedding I attended. It was clear that every detail was well thought out and the event was a reflection of the couple and everything that was important to them. The venue was in a small town in upstate NY, quaint and charming, by the river. From the welcome bags at our hotel, and the newspaper with all the event details we knew we were in for a treat. The wedding venue was absolutely gorgeous, and beautifully decorated. There were thoughtful touches like the telephone to leave a message for the couple, the personalized watercolors of the attendees as momentous, and the sunglasses for the guests as we hung in the garden at the venue, this was one of the best events I have attended. And the band was outstanding, we danced all night. Courtney did a phenomenal job of thinking about the big and the small things. She is a true professional, who is thoughtful, creative, and detail oriented.”
