    Cocktail Party Reception

    TLDR: We threw our dream wedding reception at Meili and would absolutely recommend it. My partner and I live in the neighborhood and fell in love at first bite with Meili after an impromptu post-workout dinner last year. We’ve always had pretty different tastes (I love acid and spice; his favorite food is meatloaf), and Meili is one of a very small number of restaurants that we both absolutely love. After over a decade in the city and a lifetime of eating Chinese food, we think Meili is among the highest-caliber Chinese restaurants in North America. We wanted something more like an extended cocktail party than a traditional seated dinner, and Meili was the perfect space for it. The double-height ceilings and lantern-esque lighting create a space that is at once striking and incredibly malleable. The main floor seamlessly transitioned from welcome drinks, to a dinner party that felt like having friends over in our living room, to a stage for speeches and (somehow) lion dancing, and a dance floor. Several guests told us the food was the best they’d ever had at a wedding. Throughout the night we had passed bites, a buffet-style offering of 8–10 of our favorite dishes (including plenty of V/VG options), and coffee and dessert service. The cocktails were, of course, excellent and free-flowing. Most importantly, the entire Meili team was incredibly communicative and thoughtful throughout the planning process. We were able to visit the venue and talk through logistics several times leading up to the wedding, and the load-in process on the day itself was seamless. During the event, a large team was constantly circulating, passing out drinks and food, clearing empty plates and glasses, and generally bringing the vibe. This was our first rodeo getting married, and the Meili team really held our hands through the planning process. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team to bring our vision to life. And, unrelatedly, the takeout is also great.

    I stayed at Coda and hosted our wedding welcome drinks at Meili—and it was the perfect choice. The space is absolutely beautiful and surprisingly spacious, with such a warm, stylish vibe. Every single server and bartender was incredibly kind and attentive, and our guests couldn’t stop complimenting how great the experience was. From the cocktails to the energy of the room, everything just felt effortless. Highly recommend for anyone planning an event or just looking for a memorable night out in Williamsburg!

The space is absolutely stunning: modern, warm, and effortlessly elegant, with just the right amount of edge. Our clients were thrilled, and so were their guests. What really made the experience exceptional was working with Adam, Meili’s event planner. He was incredibly responsive, organized, and collaborative from start to finish. Every detail was thoughtfully handled, and he made the entire planning process seamless.
