Whether it's a high-scale wedding in the city or an intimate elopement in the desert - we are here to capture your story in an authentic and beautiful way! We believe in building genuine connections and friendships with our couples because that trust shows through in the photographs and films we create together. After graduating from Parson's School of Art in Manhattan, I worked as a fine artist, my work involved photography and photo manipulation. I quickly discovered that I loved and excelled at photo retouching, and went on to work for some of the best photo retouching studios in New York. In 2009 I shot my first wedding, it was a dear friend of mine and the beautiful photos were featured in one of the biggest wedding magazines. I realized that I had found my calling and have been producing stunning wedding photographs with my amazing team and clients ever since.

Here's my photography short story: 2017, after 13 years of teaching, I said goodbye to the classroom and pursued Olympic weightlifting photography- my company was Everyday Lifters. Shortly after, I launched my wedding business. The Long Version: Weightlifting has taken me to places like Turkmenistan, Germany, & across the country! The weightlifters started getting married, and along the way, I received training to advocate for diverse bodies as a photographer. During this time of transition, I started taking documenting courses through the International Center of Photography and work on documenting local stories.

Hey there, I'm Joy! Years from now when you look at your wedding photographs, I want all of the memories and emotions to come flooding back: the joy, the love, and the laughter. It’s so easy to live our lives, missing the sweetest moments because how quickly they fly by. Those sweet in-between moments that can be so easily missed are my favorite to capture. Whether it be your candid smiles, the tears shed on your wedding day, or your beautiful family laughing together, I find joy in capturing you being YOU! I love photography because through it, I’m able to share pieces of your story and create lasting memories.

There is a dusty old photo album that I’ve looked at hundreds of times. It is from my parents’ wedding more than 40 years ago. It shows me a little piece of my history every time I look at those images. When I lost my father, I realized his memory lives on in those images for me. It’s like this perfect window into the past that I want to give each and every one of my wedding clients.

I’ll try to keep this short: I’m a silly, introverted, rule breaker with a sincere whimsical streak. Originally from Iowa with a decent chunk of time spent bopping between Minneapolis and Oregon, I love weddings + photography (duh), my nephew, a stiff gin + tonic, propagating too many damn houseplants, and my cats. Last I checked I’m an INFP, Enneagram 4, and Capricorn which makes me quite the pragmatic daydreamer + observer: as unnecessarily prepared as a Boy Scout, curiously creative, and hella laid back, all of which uniquely prepares me for the ebb and flow of a wedding day.
