This experience and my passion for music has helped me evolve into one of the most skilled spinners around. DJ Náná was born in Cape Verde in the early 80s and migrated to the area in the late 90s. Náná started his DJ career in 1995, when he started performing for friends and family at parties and events.

My philosophy for music is, "You bring the dancers and I'll bring the music".  I'll take your requests and my years of experience and turn your wedding into something your guests will never forget.  In order to play the right song at the right time, it's all about observation and knowing your crowd.  As I am selecting and mixing songs, I am attentive to everyone's reaction. We have been performing as a band since 2003, when Jordan Shapiro formed the band with some close musician friends in Brooklyn, NY. Since then, the band has performed at hundreds and hundreds of concerts, weddings, festivals, parties, kids birthday parties, and various other kinds of family oriented events. We have an extensive songlist of over 300 songs, drawing from all styles of music, including traditional folk/bluegrass, as well as classic rock, pop, jazz and country. The band has also released 3 full length albums of original music, ranging from progressive bluegrass/newgrass instrumentals to goofy kids songs.
