The Multicultural Arts Center

5.0

Cambridge, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $4,600

This Victorian treasure was built in the late 1880s, and originally served as the county courthouse. It’s been lovingly restored, and boasts a two-story theater space with an exquisitely embellished ceiling and wraparound mezzanine balcony. In the warmer months, ceremonies may be held in Centanni Courtyard. This airy outdoor space continues the historic feel of the Arts Center with lawns, a large arbor, and brick pathways. Your rental fee helps support the Center’s mission: to educate the community about diversity through the presentation of multicultural arts programs, and to make the center available to artists and groups who may not otherwise have access to a professionally equipped space.

We held our wedding reception at the Multicultural Arts Center in Cambridge, and it was a beautiful venue to host our event. The space was a perfect size for our event with 125 guests, and the ceiling is a showstopper. The building is right on the small city park, Centanni Park, which is such a nice little green space in East Cambridge. The staff was friendly and easy to work with and helped us to create our dream reception. One thing to keep in mind when picking this venue is that you have to select from a list of preferred vendors for catering, and they will need to rent all of the plates, cutlery, glassware, catering supplies etc since the venue does not provide these items. Their list of caterers to choose from is a great list, but the extra cost of these rentals should be remembered when budgeting your event.

Cambridge Boat Club

5.0

Cambridge, MA
  • Up to 120 guests
  • Raw space
  • Indoor & outdoor
  • Starts at $4,000

Cambridge Boat Club is a social and rowing club, located on the banks of the Charles River overlooking Eliot Bridge. Originally built in 1909, CBC was picked up in its entirety and rolled upstream to its current location in 1947, to make room for the building of Memorial Drive. Featuring vaulted ceilings and dark exposed beams akin to a ski chalet, and double french doors opening to a full length veranda, CBC offers a unique, rustic setting for any event.

The Cambridge Boat Club was the perfect choice for our New England fall-themed wedding! It is an absolutely gorgeous location on the river with just the right amount of historic charm. We had originally considered going with all-inclusive venues, but ultimately opted for the flexibility we had with the CBC to craft our own vision. The venue features two distinct rooms, a larger room called the Drinkwater room, which can be used for the wedding dinner, the Club Room, which was used for cocktail hour and the dance floor, and a porch, which has a stunning view. The layout perfectly accommodated both the party enthusiasts and our more introverted guests, who preferred quieter spaces for rest and socialization away from the dance floor. Opting for this venue requires a more DIY approach compared to all-inclusive options. Since it is a historic building, there are some restrictions to be aware of, e.g. no sparklers or ceiling drapery, and existing wall decor generally need to stay on the wall. This was no issue for us since we had a clear vision for the wedding theme and decor, and enlisted the help of Tastings Catering (highly recommend, since they have previous experience working in this space and also handle some of the decor) and Designlight. Major shoutout to Katie Donnelly, the club manager at Cambridge Boat Club, who always responded in record time to all our inquiries and provided helpful guidance. With everyone's help, we were able to create the wedding of our dreams!

We had the most beautiful day at Olio, and working with Sarah via Without a Hitch as well! We’d been working with her for almost 2 years! Sarah is a BOSS, her attention to detail is unmatched, and she helped keep my super anxious, adhd self calm! She truly helped our day go so smoothly; and helped so much in the process of planning! The space is absolutely stunning, we didn’t go wild with decor, and it just stands out all in its own. I wish we could come back every year! I could not have asked for a better day, and our guests all agree. Thank you so much!

Awarded Best of Zola
My wife and I were married at Willowdale last winter. Everything about the day was absolutely perfect -- the venue is stunning, the food and drink were incredible, and our coordinator helped everything run smoothly. Our coordinator (Jeannine) was prompt to respond to our many questions throughout the process. The kitchen and bar were both great at accommodating our special requests (we were able to have espresso martinis as a featured cocktail, and the kitchen was happy to make some of our miniature pies vegan so that all our guests could enjoy). Using Willowdale as our venue made our entire wedding planning process much easier -- the default options for everything are already gorgeous, so we did not need to rent a single thing from an outside vendor. They really went above and beyond with their displays -- they were able to incorporate extra flowers into the shelves among our photos and personal items (we DIY'ed florals and brought a bag of extra blooms for them to scatter as they saw fit), and the presentation of the desserts in particular was a hit! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Jeannine, but I think our recessional really summarizes her attention to detail and care for wedding couples. Our request was for her to press play on a particular song at a particular timestamp during our first kiss (so that our recessional could be to the chorus of Paper Rings by Taylor Swift, and not the first verse!). I was worried that we would seem cheap by not hiring a DJ, but she was so excited to support us in literally any way. Willowdale graciously let us use their in-house speaker system for our cocktail hour and reception playlists. As a gay couple, something that my wife and I really appreciated as well was that Willowdale keeps their terminology gender-neutral as a default. Jeannine was very skilled at handling any "problem" family members, and it is easy to see that she has handled many couples' family drama gracefully in the past. All in all, Willowdale made wedding planning a delightful and easy process. They have thought of every detail to create the perfect wedding day. I keep trying to talk our friends into getting married there because I want to go back and experience a Willowdale wedding as a guest!

Awarded Best of Zola
We held our wedding at Harrington Farm on December 10th, 2023 and we had an absolutely wonderful experience from our first tour through our big day. We worked with Lauryn starting at our first meeting and we instantly knew we were in good hands. Her incredible knowledge of all things wedding to her positivity made us feel so supported throughout the stressful planning process. No matter what questions we had we could email Lauryn and either she or one of her colleagues from Harrington would reply in a timely manner with answers to all of our queries. We left every meeting we had at Harrington feeling confident and secure about our plans and the behind the scenes. There are so many moving parts involved in a wedding from both the couple and the venue and Harrington ensured we never felt lost or confused and we were so grateful. Lauryn and the Harrington team helped ease so much wedding planning stress. (One extra thank you to everyone at Harrington who rushed to my brother's aid when he fainted during the ceremony. They weren't intrusive but they came right to his help, bringing him water and a chair and ensuring that he was safe. It was unfortunate but we knew that he was well taken care of so that we could go on with our vows. Seriously-they are ready for anything). On top of the fantastic support you receive you also get a beautiful venue. Harrington was the perfect backdrop for our Christmas wedding. It was warm and cozy with the lighting and the fireplace. The ceremony in front of the fireplace was exactly the aesthetic we were aiming for. It was raining out but you couldn't even tell since the inside was so comfortable and the environment was so fun. You should have seen the dance floor! We danced the night away and had the best time. Everyone told us our wedding was like a Hallmark movie and that is so largely thanks to the beautiful venue. You normally don't go to a wedding expecting delicious food but Harrington Farm, once again, blew everyone away. We had a buffet and we only heard rave reviews from our 140 guests. The appetizers, dinner, and late night mac and cheese bar were truly exceptional. My only regret from the wedding day is not eating more! It was truly top notch. The bar and coffee bar had delicious drinks, too. It was so fun to have a coffee/cocoa bar at our winter wedding and it was used quite a bit by our guests. The servers and bartenders were also fantastic at customer service, taking the time to speak individually to each of our guests with allergies to alert them of what foods were allergy friendly. They were so thrilled by this touch, as were we. Everything at Harrington Farm from the staff, the venue, the food, to the overall experience were a 10/10. Harrington helped us have our dream wedding day and we couldn't be more thankful. We highly, highly recommend to all couples looking for a beautiful, fun wedding who wants to enjoy their planning process thanks to the fabulous Harrington Farm team.

Long Hill

4.8

Beverly, MA
  • Up to 150 guests
  • Raw space
  • Outdoor
  • Starts at $6,000

Elegant plantings and cultivated grounds fill this public garden with vibrancy that's more than a century in the making. Long Hill is a property of The Trustees of Reservations, a Massachusetts non-profit corporation. From 1916 to 1979, Long Hill was the summer home of noted author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly, Ellery Sedgwick. He summered here with his first wife, Mabel Cabot Sedgwick, an accomplished horticulturist, gardener, and author of The Garden Month by Month, and his second wife, Marjorie Russell Sedgwick, a rare plants specialist—both of whom created a delightful, enchanting landscape, surrounded by more than 100 acres of woodland. Today, visitors delight in the beauty of Long Hill’s structured and naturalistic gardens as well as a network of woodland trails. A diverse collection of trees, shrubs, and distinctive perennial plants provide color during the growing season, peaking in May and June and providing structure and beauty throughout the year.

Awarded Best of Zola
I cannot recommend Long Hill enough as a wedding venue. Not only are the gardens incredibly green and lush, but the crew works with you to make sure you have all your questions answered and execute the wedding that you envision. There are several options for spaces to have your ceremony and cocktail hour, and the tent is perfect for the reception. A special shoutout to Jared and Helena for working through several last minute changes in our plans due to unpredictable weather to ultimately make our night perfect

Hampshire House

5.0

Boston, MA
  • Up to 100 guests
  • All-inclusive
  • Indoor

The Hampshire House is a classic turn-of-the-century mansion on historic Beacon Hill, where generations of Bostonians and their guests have wined, dined, and danced the night away. Hampshire House offers sweeping views of the Boston Public Garden. This five-story Georgian revival townhouse was lavished with Italian marble, carved oak paneling, crystal chandeliers, and tall Palladian windows. Hampshire House opens its doors for lavish private events - the perfect spot for elegant wedding celebrations. Whether you are dreaming of an intimate champagne brunch or an elaborate evening reception, the Hampshire House will help you design a personalized and unforgettable experience that is all your own.

Awarded Best of Zola
We selected the Hampshire House for our wedding, because we loved the feeling of celebrating in an old-style mansion. The ceremony, dinner, and dancing were all held in the massive library, and it was gorgeous. They had fully working fireplaces for our cold November wedding, which really set the mood. Probably more importantly, the food was outstanding. Our family and friends are all foodies, and if the food was bad, we would have heard about it until the end of time. Instead, people could not get over how amazing both the cocktail hour food was, but also the dinner hour. While the space was stunning to begin with, one of the main considerations in picking this venue was the staff. Everyone was so helpful and attentive to our needs right from the start. They made the whole experience as stress free as possible. The Director/Coordinator, Michele Giacomozzi was amazing. She was always there to answer any questions we had or offer any help she could. Michele did an outstanding job the day of, left us feeling stress free and allowed us to live in the moment. We had so many compliments afterwards about the food, the beauty of the space, and especially the stunning views of the public gardens. We could not have imagined a more perfect day.

Just recently got married here in April 2022. The venue was gorgeous and we had to switch coordinators the day before because ours was sick but they did a phenomenal job! They really took care of me and my husband we never had to wait for a drink they made sure we stayed on our schedule they were wonderful and really thought of everything. I heard from almost everyone it was the best wedding food they have had yet! The only downside was we had a 190 person wedding and the bar was absolutely packed at all times, they ran out of vodka and tequila in the first round of drinks and all of the garnishes soon after. Would definitely recommend doing the per person open bar if you have a remotely drinking crowd. We ended up spending twice what it would have cost us if we did that option because people then had to get grey goose etc when they ran out of everything else.
