The Hampshire House is a classic turn-of-the-century mansion on historic Beacon Hill, where generations of Bostonians and their guests have wined, dined, and danced the night away. Hampshire House offers sweeping views of the Boston Public Garden. This five-story Georgian revival townhouse was lavished with Italian marble, carved oak paneling, crystal chandeliers, and tall Palladian windows. Hampshire House opens its doors for lavish private events - the perfect spot for elegant wedding celebrations. Whether you are dreaming of an intimate champagne brunch or an elaborate evening reception, the Hampshire House will help you design a personalized and unforgettable experience that is all your own.

Third Floor
Intimate gatherings with exceptional views
The third floor rooms provide an intimate setting for your event. With a working marble fireplace along with gorgeous views of the Boston Public Garden, the third floor is the perfect spot for your gathering. When the mansion was built, the third floor served as bedrooms for the Thayer family. The Thayer room, belonging to Mrs. Thayer, was chosen for it's views as she was a member of the Boston Horticultural Society.

The Second Floor Library is the grandest room in our mansion. It is designed with high ceilings, tall windows overlooking Beacon Street and the Boston Public Garden, intricately carved oak paneling with bookshelves, a magnificent working marble fireplace, and a functional baby grand piano. The space allows your guests to experience a true and classic Bostonian venue. This space can accommodate a maximum of 100 guests for a plated meal and up to 150 for a reception style event.

Absolutely Beautiful!
I truly cannot stop obsessing over our choice to have hosted our wedding at Hampshire House. If you're looking for an elegant, world class experience with top notch catering, you will not regret choosing Hampshire House. My husband and I worked closely with Michele to plan our perfect day. From start to finish, Michele was attentive, professional, and so so helpful and responsive. She made this process so easy for us and helped us navigate through all of our choices for the big day. The wedding day itself was FLAWLESS and sooo seamless. Michele, Savannah, and every single staff member was kind, attentive, and made sure that our evening flowed smoothly. If there was anything wrong, we really did not know about it. We are so impressed with the level of care Hampshire house dedicated to us. Thank you all so much again for such a beautiful experience. All of our guests cannot stop complimenting us on how beautiful the venue was and how delicious the food was!

Wonderful event space
We can’t say enough great things about the wonderful pre-wedding dinner and welcome reception we had at the Hampshire House in February 2026. The second floor library worked out perfectly for both events. It was beautifully decorated, table settings were elegant, and the staff were very accommodating to us bringing in our own personal touches such as flowers and photos. Coordination with Victoria Costa was seamless. She was very easy to work with, attentive to our needs, and offered many helpful suggestions. The food and beverage options for both events were outstanding. Our customized appetizer and dinner selections were delicious as were the dessert selections for the reception. Victoria’s suggested choices and quantities were just right for the number of guests. Throughout the evening our on-site manager Tori Green made sure the events ran smoothly and efficiently, and we never felt rushed. All the staff — waitstaff, bartenders — were friendly and professional. Tori really ensured the evening was special. The bride and groom were so very happy. It was an amazing start to a very special weekend.

A lovely, elegant wedding venue
We had a wonderful wedding reception at the Hampshire House! The space is gorgeous and the location unbeatable. We loved decorating the fireplace with flowers and even getting to turn on the fire. The space felt elegant and homey - just the vibe we wanted. It ended up being a bit rainy on our wedding day, so it was also great to have an indoor space and not worry about rain plans. The staff was very easy to work with, we loved the food, the service, and the live piano with dinner.

Hampshire House is a special, truly unique and beautiful space for a wedding and Victoria Costa is an amazing manager/person! When I first saw the pictures of Hampshire House I thought “this is my dream wedding space” and they made it happen. My husband and I wanted a space that felt intimate and comfortable for our smaller-ish wedding, and we wanted it to be already filled with character and history so that we didn’t need to add too much to the space in terms of florals, decorations, etc. We also wanted a wedding venue that was very “Boston” with all of the New England charm. From our first meeting with Victoria, we felt that she was attentive, answered all of our questions and made us feel like our wedding was going to be as special as we were imagining it. She walked us through each part of the event and the day and we truly felt the whole time that we were in the best hands. The process was very smooth. Also, Hampshire House is an amazingly well run machine when it comes to putting on a wedding - they know how to transform all of the rooms and keep your guests smoothly moving throughout the various spaces so you feel like you and your guests are taken care of the whole time. One thing to know is that the food is incredible. Our guests absolutely loved it and we still have friends and family comment on their meal. How many times do people still talk about the food from a wedding?! We are so incredibly thankful that we found the Hampshire House and hope to be back to visit many times over the years. Thank you for creating our dream day and making every part so spectacular and special.

Wedding at the Hampshire house
We couldn’t have imagined a more perfect venue for our wedding than the Hampshire House. From start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. The venue itself is absolutely stunning, and our guests couldn’t stop commenting on how beautiful everything was. The staff was truly outstanding—professional, attentive, and incredibly kind. Everything ran seamlessly, allowing us to fully enjoy our evening without worrying about a thing. A special thank-you to Brittney, who was such a pleasure to work with throughout the entire planning process. She was responsive, organized, and genuinely cared about making our wedding exactly what we hoped it would be.
