After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

“Justin and Jesse performed at the outdoor cocktail hour for our wedding held in the Hudson Valley, and we were thrilled to have them play for us. Both my wife and I have a long history in the jazz scene (and played brass instruments in various groups into college), so we were thrilled to have Skylark Music perform a variety of classic jazz standards (and a few newer numbers) that were meaningful to us. Their repertoire is impressive, and the flexibility to perform songs as either accompanied vocal works or instrumental duets was likewise a big draw for us. Furthermore, they were always very responsive to our messages, friendly, and professional. If we held another event we wanted to make classy and enjoyable, we'd definitely contact Skylark again!”

“Justin was lovely to work with from the start. He was booked for another wedding, but he paired us up with Rob, an associate DJ of his. Both Rob and Justin were so so fun to work with. Rob took the time to text or set up whatever zoom calls we felt we needed. For the actual day, Rob was amazing. We had dinner service, reception, and "after party". Robs killed it with his flow between songs, and was incredibly accommodating and flexible if we had any requests in the moment, and was able to dodge or handle any "questionable" song requests that came his way. We knew that he always put my husband and I's wishes first. We also had multiple people comment on how good the DJ was during the reception, and after the fact! He also went above and beyond to pull heroics the day of to get some of our DIY spot lighting set up that wasn't set up the night prior. Rob was incredible to work with, and just as fun to chat with. “Upon seeing pictures of Heather's work, I knew I had to have this woman be the florist for the big day. It was just extra luck that Heather also happens to be a decorator! Heather is on top of everything and very organized. We went over details big and small, things I hadn't even considered. She was familiar with my venue and knew just how to utilize her decorating skills - with beautiful drapery over the beams, gorgeous greenery down the tables and bud vases filled with vibrant flowers. She brought my vision to life and was excited with me the whole way planning it. Heather was great keeping me on task with things to do leading up to the big day so I wasn't scrambling. She followed up with many emails from me regarding small random questions. Our wedding was stunning and it felt great knowing someone was handling the decor while my loved ones and I focused on each other. The florals were truly breathtaking - my bridal bouquet was a dream come true. It was popping with all sorts of colors, fun texture, and gorgeous shape - it was my inspiration pictures but better! “Allyse was amazing, to say the least. My husband and I got married on July 4th and wanted to incorporate fireworks into our event somehow. Our venue wouldn’t allow it for safety reasons(understandable) so we talked to Allyse and decided to do a first look a few nights before with fireworks. The photos from the first look were amazing! We started during daylight and they captured everything perfectly. But let me tell you, the way the photos with the fireworks came out was STUNNING!!! Only a true professional could have done what they did! Allyse and her husband did a fantastic job snapping everything moment of our wedding and catching some of the sweetest memories that I can cherish forever- including my 80 year old grandmother holding my 3 month old son! The look of love on her face was so candid and sweet. I’ve had numerous guests tell me later that my photographers were “awesome, fun and so amazing, how did you find them?” And that really sums them up, they were so awesome and the most fun! “If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly! My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations! Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place! My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever! Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan! Thank you again, Black Walnut Farm. You have created something so very, very special and we will be eternally grateful!”

“Deliece and Melissa absolutely killed it for our wedding day and we could not be more thankful!!! We booked them for their day of coordination services and they were able to alleviate a lot of stress leading up to the big day for me, which was key in keeping my sanity for the entire weekend. I am someone who is beyond type A and have a working background in event planning/management and they were such a great crew to work with and thought of details that never even crossed my mind! Having my event planning background, I really questioned if I would need planners because I felt like I had everything under control, but having Deliece and Melissa as part of our special day was a no-brainer! Looking back, I wish I would have found them sooner, honestly!  We had many detailed pieces and small items to set out on the day of the wedding plus an end-of-night exit that took some coordination, and everything went off without a hitch. It was important to my now husband and me that during the time leading up to the day of the event, Deliece and Melissa were very professional and always responsive - even when Deliece had just welcomed her son to their family. They are great to bounce ideas off of as well and lean on for advice and support when the dreaded but inevitable hiccups happen prior to your big day (like me getting the stomach flu 2 days before the wedding and not being able to get into town on time). During the wedding, when anything was adjusted or if an issue came up, they presented everything to me very calmly and with a solution which I really appreciated because it kept me from getting upset or worried knowing that they had it completely handled and had my back! My dress bustle was destroyed early on after it was accidentally stepped on multiple times while dancing and the ladies were able to save the day and make sure that train wasn’t moving anymore and was secure and I would be able to party the night away. The best part of all (aside from them being amazing people to work with) was that they knew my schedule inside and out and did not let anything slip through the cracks, which was always something I was worried about before I had planners. All of their materials and plans they create are clear and straightforward and if you choose month of coordination, there are many follow up calls and these ladies work super hard behind the scenes to make sure everything is perfect. At the end of the night, everything was carefully put away and handled which allowed my new husband and I to be able to go off with our friends and family and continue the celebration at the after party, which were are BEYOND grateful for since there was so much partying happening during the actual wedding. Overall, our wedding was amazing and Deliece and Melissa deserve so much credit for that! My husband and I are beyond grateful for the whole team and for helping to make our day a legit fairytale!”

We felt so ready when the day came but were still so surprised about how much DJ Lou did for us. He was checking to see if we were okay, pulling us away to make sure we were eating, working with our other vendors so seamlessly- our ceremony musicians, our officiant, our family band, and our photographer! It made the reception a hit among all our guests! We can't recommend him enough!”
