How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors

“Choosing Stroudsmoor was the #1 best decision I could have made when it came to my wedding. It is the PERFECT place to get married. They have everything right there for you no matter which venue on their property you choose. We got married at The Pavillion because we wanted an outdoor ceremony with a “backyard/park” feel. From the moment I met my event planner, Danica, the planning went smoothly and every detail was covered. Grayson handled the flowers and decor beautifully. My bouquet came out better than I ever could have expected and the ceremony and reception decor was everything i was looking for. I came to them with a cake stand I had seen that I was going to rent myself but instead THEY HAD ONE MADE!! That’s just one example of many of how they go above and beyond to make your day a dream come true. From the ceremony to the reception things were seamless from a venue standpoint. Danica and Kailey planned my day with me and made sure my vision came to life. Checked in often and even made sure our fist look went smoothly while juggling another wedding. “My wife and I got married here in January 2026. This venue is a cut above the rest- they are communicative, flexible, and professional. They are also very LGBTQIA friendly. Our coordinator Julia did an amazing job communicating with the vendors on our behalf, and was very timely with our last minute questions and requests. The food was amazing, the chocolate chip cookies are to die for. All our guests said how beautiful the venue is and how fantastic the dinner service was. “We just had our wedding at Deity in April 2024 and couldn’t be happier with how our special day went. The planning process: After we toured the venue, we knew Deity was special. The pricing was very transparent and super reasonable considering everything that’s included – the venue (lounge, loft, and basement), day-of coordinator, food, 50 bar credit pp, basic décor package, and DJ. The space is gorgeous and so unique, unlike any other venue we’ve attended as guests or toured. Each floor has a purpose and accompanying vibe to match – the bridal suite is relaxing and picturesque (highly recommend adding this to your day for an added cost), the cocktail lounge is dreamy, the ceremony loft (and dinner space) is bright yet cozy, and the basement dance floor is funky and fun. Because the venue was already beautifully designed and all inclusive, the only things we needed to provide for the ceremony/reception were signage (welcome, table arrangements, his/her drinks), minimal décor/flowers (we hired a florist for the ceremony arch and did bud vases for the tables and they turned out beautiful), and dessert. Some (including me) may be nervous about all-inclusive venues, however Deity was so accommodating to the little ways in which we wanted to make our wedding unique, such as incorporating cultural outfit changes into the schedule to setting up a late-night instant noodle bar. Finally, Anna, the coordinator included with the venue, was a godsend. She made the whole wedding planning process so much easier, patiently answered all my random questions, and provided guidance where needed. The day of: Our family and friends were blown away by the bridal suite. We were relaxed the whole morning while getting ready and got some beautiful photos to start off the day. Once the day started rolling, Anna and the whole Deity team were on top of everything. They made sure everyone was on schedule but also were flexible with last minute changes, even making sure my husband and I had private moments to ourselves. The food was delicious and plentiful. We had so many guests compliment the cocktail hour bites and dinner service, even our very picky grandma said it was the best salmon she’s ever had. The drinks were flowing and we had guests commenting on how drink service on the dance floor was genius – everyone could continue dancing and no one was ever waiting with an empty glass. Also, my husband and I were initially nervous about an in-house DJ because we are very picky with music but DJ BenHaMeen was amazing, listened to our wants and needs, and kept the dancefloor lively (our photographer even complimented the music!). All in all, we cannot recommend Deity enough. Our guests are still asking if we can have a wedding there every year (we wish!).”

“Living in AZ a majority of wedding venues are desert landscaped, which is beautiful but not something I was looking for. I also noticed while looking at other venues the background of the ceremony had buildings or houses that were visible in the pictures, again, not something I was looking for. After months of searching I came across Venue at the Grove and absolutely fell in love just by looking at the pictures alone. I set up a tour and let me tell you pictures do not do that place justice. Seeing it in person during the day and at night with all the trees lit up is absolutely beautiful!! The venue is all inclusive which helped tremendously because during that year leading up to the wedding I can honestly stay I was stress free (minus the seating chart lol) Communicating with the staff was great and their timelines getting back to me about all my questions was always right away. “100% would recommend Walden for a stress-free wedding experience!!! We knew Walden was our venue when we read about their full-service wedding packages including planners, kitchen/bar all under one roof. After we toured the venue, we could not wait to have our wedding here. Our main planners were Hannah and Briscel, and we had the pleasure of a 3rd planner, Ally with a last-minute day-of staffing change. Hannah and Briscel took the stress out of wedding planning, keeping us on track with every detail and vendor. Ally made sure the wedding day ran seamlessly. One of the best things we loved about working with the planners was their recommendations for local vendors (floral, DJ, photography etc.). Their assistance contacting and coordinating calls/quotes from vendors was also a huge help. Every possible detail regarding the wedding was accounted for, so we were certain nothing would be missed along the way. Now for the fun part, our wedding day was absolutely perfect and better than we ever dreamt. The coordinators kept us on schedule and sent an itinerary in advance, so everyone knew where to be and what was coming up next. They handled all of the communication with vendors and all the little details, so we could fully be present on our wedding day. We did not have any moments of stress, or panic, and was rarely asked any questions or to do any tasks. The Walden team set everything up for us from the welcome sign to the memorial table and of course the gorgeous reception room. It’s like suddenly we got teleported into our Pinterest vision board! A big shout out to Nick and Matt, the kitchen and bar staff. They were absolutely amazing! The drinks were awesome, the bartenders could make any drink guests wanted including mocktails. The food was incredible, so many guests complimented on how delicious their meals were. We also really appreciated their accommodations for various food restrictions and preferences. Overall, the Walden staff has truly thought of everything. They made the very daunting task of planning a wedding much more manageable, and made the whole day that much more special. Could not think of a better venue in the area for folks planning a wedding!”

“We had the most beautiful wedding at The Boylston Rooms. From the moment we first spoke with Erin and Myles we know this would be the venue we would choose. They saw our vision and really went above and beyond to ensure our special day was perfect. We were thrilled to be able to utilize their massive library of decorations and supplies to avoid having to purchase a ton of decorative elements and we donated the things we did end up purchasing so that they didnt end up sitting in our house (or worse, a landfill!) Myles and Erin both made absolutely certain that we got to enjoy every moment, including our food, and that we got to spend a moment alone together right after the ceremony to celebrate. Alyssa was by my side all day as my biggest cheerleader. I'm an emotional person who doesn't love being the center of attention. She had the most reassuring presence and all kinds of tricks up her sleeve. I will never forget her helping me take deep breaths, holding a cold can of Diet Coke on my chest to help calm me down. The Boylston Rooms made our wedding day so special, and we can't recommend them highly enough. We probably could've had a beautiful wedding anywhere if we had been willing to dedicate our entire lives to it for the year prior or shell out thousands of dollars for a planner and coordinator. But at The Boylston Rooms we didnt have to do either. We had a gorgeous wedding and it was affordable but above all it was effortless. With their help? We would do it again in a heartbeat.”

“Let me start off by saying that I don’t typically leave reviews, but I needed to leave one for this amazing team and venue! We just had our wedding there this February, and WOW!!!!! I cannot say enough good things about this venue. We were looking for a venue that was affordable and willing to work with us and we came across this hidden gem. I wanted an enchanted romantic candle lit wedding and this was the perfect place for it. The chapel is connected to the tented area, which is breathtaking. They have a beautiful suite on site where my bridal party and us were able to get ready in. They had pastries, coffee, and more ready for us while we were getting ready which I thought was such a beautiful touch. Arthur and Kat were extremely responsive from start to finish. They answered any questions that we had and were so attentive to everything! As a bride, I had some anxiety leading up to the day of but their prompt responses gave me piece of mind. The day of the wedding their whole team was on it either setting everything up. It made the experience stress free and they made our vision come to life - it exceeded our expectations by far! Our family and friends couldn’t believe how calm I was the day of the wedding and I kept telling the it’s bc they LITERALLY have the best team. I honestly can’t believe anything less than a 5 star review for this place if I’m honest. All of my guests kept raving about how attentive the staff was and how it was THE BEST service they’ve ever had at a wedding. If any one is in doubt about booking them for your wedding, don’t be! We are conveniently located 12 minutes from the Cleveland Hopkins International Airport. Our Main Hall can accommodate 300+ guests for a wedding. There is a minimum of 125 guests required. “Donauschwaben's German-American Cultural Center was the perfect venue for our daughter & son-in-law’s wedding. The location to the airport, highway and hotel were ideal. Their property provided plenty of parking. The wedding was outside on a 92 day and was flawless. It was hot, but the trees were in the perfect position to shade the entire patio. The entire staff was amazing. The reception space was transformed into a beautiful space for our special celebration. Our family and friends shared with us how delicious the appetizers, meal and “aftertizers” of the homemade pretzels. Christine the Event Manager went above and beyond and made sure the day was special for everyone. She answered all of my questions, even up to the last minute. We were so impressed with how many times Christine checked in with us to make sure we were happy. We highly recommend Donauschwaben’s German-American Cultural Center.”

“We had our wedding at The Red Barn this past May and everything was beyond perfect! Our wedding coordinator, Alex was so on top of everything during the planning stages and throughout the wedding itself. She is so incredible and we feel so lucky to have worked with her! The entire staff at The Red Barn was so amazing as well. The space is stunning and the food and drinks were incredible. We truly cannot say enough good things about The Red Barn! We had our reception and ceremony indoors and the fireplace backdrop was absolutely perfect. The space itself is beautiful and we really didn’t feel that we needed to do a ton of decorating which lessened stress and saved us on decor costs. However, all we really had to do was drop off what decorations we did have and Alex and her team took care of set up and breakdown with our vendors. We really didn’t have a single worry the weekend of the wedding. The amazing staff at The Red Barn took care of it all. We also stayed at Stage House Inn the weekend of the wedding and got ready there. Darien was a pleasure to work with and made coordinating room blocks so easy! The bridal suite comfortably fit all the girls getting ready (12 total people) plus 4 hair and makeup girls. It was also the perfect room for getting ready photos! We held our rehearsal lunch at The Links restaurant and the staff was so accommodating! We had a last minute reservation for around 25 and they took us no problem. Excellent and affordable food and drinks! Overall we had a perfect experience with every aspect of The Red Barn. We absolutely would recommend it to anyone looking for the perfect spot for their wedding!”

“Flagstaff House was incredible! They were such a great venue. Annie was our event planner, and she was perfect - professional, friendly, and so helpful helping everything run smoothly day of. The venue itself was beautiful and did a great job helping us plan for any weather scenario. The food was INCREDIBLE - each of the dishes were delicious and the cake was just as beautiful as it was delicious. It ended up being a surprisingly budget friendly option as well - although the price for food is higher than most places, the fact that the restaurant provided everything needed for the lunch including custom menus, the cake, and all of the linens/chairs/tables/table numbers/etc. meant that the total price ended up being a great value.”

Built in 1927 as an all-boy Catholic boarding school. It eventually evolved into a renowned military school for boys. From the moment we stepped into the Terrain venue located in Glen Mills, we knew it was where we wanted to get married and host our indoor ceremony with family and friends. Carla and the entire Terrain event staff made our wedding day so special, and I loved that they made sure we took time to be together to enjoy the little moments. Carla made the entire planning experience a breeze and I knew I was in good hands where I didn't feel like I needed another day of coordinator or wedding planner. She answered EVERY question I had promptly, and it was a joy to work with her. A special shout out to Hen, our attendant for the Mushroom House for her professionalism in handling our wedding party as well as doing breathing exercises with me prior to the ceremony and checking in on me throughout the night (you are an angel). The package Terrain offers is unbeatable, and the food and drink options are endless to ensure everyone’s tastes and dietary restrictions are accommodated. “As a local California wedding photographer, I’ve had the joy of working at The Mountain Terrace in Woodside many times over the past few years, and it’s truly one of my favorite venues. “Brooklyn Winery was the first venue that we looked at and we immediately knew that it was the perfect fit for us. The space is absolutely beautiful and has the perfect layout for a wedding. The greenery wall was the perfect backdrop for our wedding ceremony. We also loved the skylights and all of the fun lighting fixtures throughout the space, which made for such a cozy and intimate atmosphere. We also had wonderful interactions with every single person that we worked with at Brooklyn Winery. Our first conversation and venue tour with Tatiana was extremely informative and helped to answer all of the questions that we had. This made us feel comfortable in our decision to choose Brooklyn Winery for our wedding. We got to meet more of the venue staff during our tasting and all of them were so kind to us. Everyone came over to introduce themselves and get to know us. We had dinner at the restaurant after our final walkthrough and were able to see some of the venue staff from the tasting, who remembered us and happily accommodated our dietary restrictions. And most importantly, we absolutely LOVED working with our Event Manager, Marissa Allain! Marissa was incredibly helpful in the months leading up to the wedding, providing quick responses to all of our questions. She kept us organized and thought through every little detail so that everything would run smoothly on the day of the wedding. Marissa helped us feel at ease throughout the whole process of wedding planning. She was so warm, genuine, and thoughtful and we feel so lucky to have had her as our event manager. We don’t know how we could have done it without her. The food was also a highlight of having a wedding at Brooklyn Winery. We had several guests with food allergies / dietary restrictions including dairy free, gluten free, pescatarian, vegetarian, and more. Brooklyn Winery was able to help us modify the dishes that selected to accommodate all of these dietary restrictions and make sure that there would be something for everybody to enjoy. And the food was delicious! We were blown away at how good it was and received countless compliments from friends and family. We loved the fact that we could have an indoor ceremony that felt like it was outside and the team seamlessly flipped the space for the reception. Tori, our coordinator, was so easy to work with, answering all of our questions and worked tirelessly to get the layout for our reception just perfect! She also worked flawlessly with our wedding coordinator, which took so much stress off of us leading into our wedding day. The food, wine, and drinks were also delicious and extra points for their knowledge of hosting Jewish weddings with all of our traditions!”

“Having our wedding at Bay Pointe was to put it simply: perfection. We booked our wedding over a year in advance and from the first few seconds that we stepped in for our tour of the venue, we were in love. Mariesa, our sales manager, was so personable and so accommodating. The entire process leading up to the wedding was so efficient working with Madison. She was so communicative and so easy to work with. All of our changes, questions, recommendations, literally everything - she had an answer to! We always felt so welcomed by the entire staff. Our rehearsal dinner at the Bay Pointe Bar and Grill was beautiful and the staff that night were amazing - they made sure we were doing ok, our family was fed and everyone was having a good time. Lauren, our day of coordinator was excellent at her job. She worked so well with all of our vendors and family. We had the BEST time ever. The value is worth the money you spend. A huge thank you to everyone on the Bay Pointe team who helped us along the way and the weekend of.”

“Harrington Farm was the first venue my husband and I toured. From that moment on, we found ourselves comparing every other venue that we toured to Harrington Farm- spoiler alert, none of them came even close to checking all of the same boxes. Harrington Farm’s all-inclusive package is a no-brainer: ceremony & reception venue with a massive dinner menu, individualized day-of planning, cake (with 2 bakers to choose from), coffee bar, AND a 5-hour open bar?! Count us in! The team at Harrington Farm was nothing short of incredible. From day one, Lauryn took care of making sure that all of our planning went smoothly, answered all of our (many) questions, and constantly secured our trust in Harrington Farm with handling our big day. On the actual day, Jess was the best bridal attendant I ever could have asked for. She made sure each and every one of our needs were met all night long. In addition to all of the other perks, the food at Harrington Farm is beyond amazing (you can’t say that about most venues). We especially loved the option to add the smoker to our menu items! We have received (and continue to receive) numerous compliments on our choice in wedding venue and we have to agree. If you want your big day to be 100% magical, you absolutely must choose Harrington Farm.”
