How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. “WILLOWDALE DELIVERS ON EVERY LEVEL!!! We could not have imagined a more perfect day in our wildest dreams and the Willowdale venue and team were a HUGE part of that. The Coach House Suite was beautiful and clean and a great way to start our day. The mansion and surrounding park showed off for our fall wedding - the landscaping was impeccable, the set up under the tent made our mouths drop, and the team (with special shout out to Jeanine) executed every one of our many details. The food was delicious - like actually good not just good for a wedding. The whole team at Willowdale was calm and knew how to execute on the day-of. They made having our pup there for the ceremony easy and meaningful. They also have a great list of star studded vendors (especially our DJ - Mark Dixon!). The team also ensured we could incorporate cultural traditions seamlessly. And the cookies!! Could not recommend more highly! One tip for the brides with a million details - the Willowdale team is incredible, but they do not have the capacity to plan all your details (they are too busy killing it for the couples getting married that month at the venue). If you have a lot of moving parts, might be worth a planner.”

“We got married in October 2025 at Deity Events in downtown Brooklyn, and our experience was nothing short of magical. From the very first moment we toured the space in spring 2024, we knew it was the one. The venue is stunning — modern yet warm, with gorgeous architectural details and an effortlessly chic vibe that feels both elevated and welcoming. Deity is truly a dream for couples planning a wedding in NYC. They host weddings from 50 to 150 guests, and we chose their 50-person micro wedding package. Their pricing is transparent and incredibly reasonable for NYC — packages range from 12K–18K, and we added their breathtaking bridal suite for an additional 3,000, which was worth every penny. The suite is spectacular: two bathrooms, a shower, a full kitchen, a balcony, incredible photography space, a huge sleigh bed, a stunning tub, luxe velvet and leather furniture, exposed brick, and access to a rooftop with a hot tub and cold plunge. It made our wedding morning feel like a luxury retreat and gave us the most beautiful getting-ready photos. What really sets Deity apart is that they are fully all-inclusive and tip-free, which made planning so much less stressful. They handled coat check, bartenders, staffing, a day-of coordinator, DJ/MC, room transitions between floors, passed appetizers, a excellent, generous family style seated dinner, and a full bar with fantastic food and drinks. They also offer beautiful decor basics including a gorgeous hexagon arch, candles, mirrors, table numbers, linens, chairs, and all flatware. This allowed us to personalize the day with our own invites, florals, attire, officiant, dessert, and additional vendors without feeling overwhelmed. Our coordinator was absolutely phenomenal — calm, organized, and truly invested in making our day perfect. The owner, Caio, was lovely, warm, and incredibly professional throughout the entire process. We had several planning meetings, a detailed walk-through, and many email exchanges, and we always felt supported and at ease. We also loved the group tasting experience they offered with other couples getting married that month — it was such a thoughtful and fun touch. All in, we were able to have our entire wedding in downtown Brooklyn for around 35K — about 20K to the venue and 15K for extras — which felt like an incredible value for the level of service, quality, and beauty we received. Location-wise, Deity is unbeatable. Being so close to Barclays Center meant there were at least seven hotels within a seven-minute walk, making it super convenient for our out-of-town guests. The flexibility to bring in our own vendors (outside of food and alcohol) made the entire process smooth, creative, and joyful. Truly, the whole experience was seamless from start to finish. I would choose Deity Events a thousand times over and can only highly recommend for other couples to choose Deity so they can have an equally incredible experience.”

From start to finish, everything was seamless, and our wedding weekend was more magical than we could have imagined. Stephanie, our day-of coordinator, was an absolute dream to work with. “I cannot say enough fabulous things about Itasca country club & its staff. We were at our wits end searching for venues and then decided let’s check out the country club. We were amazed by how beautiful the space was both inside and outside. It was a no brainer from there. We worked with Genny as our coordinator and she helped keep things organized and on track but was equally a calming presence. She took over at the midway point as we had a different point of contact and she did so with grace. Our meeting with her 2 weeks out helped us feel like she had everything under control and alleviated our stress. The wedding day was beautiful, so many places to take photos outdoors! Guests were raving about the food & we can honestly say the crab cakes were the best we’ve ever had. Having heard horror stories about the bride and groom not even being able to eat on their wedding day, Genny and team served us our full meal instantly ensuring we were well fed and ready to hit the dance floor. “Our wedding was everything we hoped for. Courtney (our coordinator) was warm, organized, and made the day run smoothly. Mikayla and Malia were so friendly and helpful, and Christy (bartender) kept checking in to make sure we had drinks in hand. We also really liked our DJ, Madeleine—she kept the energy up all night, but considering I had given her a very long list of songs we really liked, I was sad when she played some that weren’t even on the list, particularly during dinner service, knowing that meant less time for the songs we loved most. The ceremony site was stunning, and the reception space perfectly blended rustic mountain charm with elegance. The prime rib was excellent, and overall, the food exceeded our expectations. Dropping off, having them set everything up and picking up decorations went so smoothly. Unfortunately, the contracted bakery that was included in our package never got back to us, even after we followed up multiple times. Because of that, we had to use an outside baker, The Cakery Pastry Studio, whose cake was amazing—but it cost us more money out-of-pocket, even after receiving a credit. The Gold Nugget Cabin was clean and charming, though the bathrooms are dated. I did appreciate that they had recently updated the bridal suite, which made for beautiful “getting ready” photos. I do wish check-in had been earlier for photos, as I felt rushed before the ceremony. My only real regret is not adding an extra hour to the reception—it flew by too quickly. The only big negative I have to share is how close to the wedding they were able to confirm our rehearsal time between 9:00 AM or 1:00 PM. That impacts travel time for the wedding party. In my case they were all coming in from out of state and navigating child care. Not knowing if they’d need to fly in the night before or if they could swing an early AM flight until just 6 weeks before our date added extra stress on me and our wedding party.”

“There aren't enough positive things that I can say about Terrain and their team! I knew well before my wedding day that picking Terrain for our wedding was going to be the best decision I made, and I was SO right. Planning was smooth, well thought out, and easy! Carla was my coordinator and WHAT A BOSS!!! Between the planning process being fun with her to the day where rain came semi unexpectedly and Carla perfectly timed the ceremony in between boughts of rain, ensuring we could utilize the beautiful temple area for the ceremony. The team squeegeed the aisle and chairs for the guests to ensure their comfort which was truly beyond what I had ever thought of! Every guest raved about how incredibly well the entire evening ran, they loved the gorgeous property, and the food was not only raved about but it was so plentiful that one of our guests genuinely thought that there was not a sit down dinner after cocktail hour because they had access to so many different hors d'oeuvres! Not only did the guests enjoy the whole evening, but my husband, our parents, and myself all felt BEYOND taken care of all day by all of the staff. I truly did not think once the entire event and that's just a nod to how well taken care of you are the entire time. My bridal attendants were attentive, helped me with a dress change, and all around hyped me up throughout the day, adding to the joy of it all! As a wedding vendor myself (photographer) I can not speak highly enough about Terrain and their staff at Styer's. It's a literal no brainer to book with them!”

“My fiancé, Rica, and I didn’t originally plan on having our wedding and reception at Bay Pointe. We hadn’t looked at any place that far away, 1 hour from home. Two weeks before the wedding our original venue had a fire and we had to scramble to find a new location. Mariesa Colavincenzo, the Catering Sales Manager at Bay Pointe, came to our rescue. With her and her staffs’ help we were able to pull off a miracle and have a beautiful wedding using part of the restaurant and the deck, looking out on the lake… a perfect backdrop for our vows and the reception. Everyone remarked about how beautiful the setting was and also how wonderful the food was. We had 2 appetizers and a 3-entry buffet that was absolutely delicious! District Winery hosts full-service weddings for up to 200 guests. The first working winery in Washington, DC, District Winery is located in Navy Yard along the Anacostia River. Our modern, sophisticated, waterfront wedding venue with floor to ceiling windows, an outdoor terrace, and sweeping river views is the ideal venue for your wedding. District Winery include our highly regarded wedding cuisine and wines made onsite. Executive Chef Nicholas Fulginiti brings years of culinary expertise to our venue, as he oversees every detail of your menu. Couples work with a District Winery event manager who will assist with all of the details, from helping curate the perfect menu to coordinating with vendors to ensure seamless execution. All District Winery weddings are turnkey and include the use of our custom walnut tables, chairs, high top tables, bar stools, marble topped bars, china, glassware, flatware, linen napkins, printed menus, table top items to enhance your decor.

“We had our wedding at DW on September 1, and it was truly flawless. DW is such a well oiled machine and the night went incredibly smooth. It was such a pleasure to work with Latoria, Chloe, and Tori throughout the planning process. We had about 150 people with a band and it was the perfect fit. The room was STUNNING and the team was super accommodating with last minute changes and a huge wrench thrown our way on the big day. No one even flinched and they adapted beautifully. SO sad it's over and I wish we could do it again!!”

“We honestly could not have asked for a better venue than Harrington Farm for our wedding. From the very beginning, the entire team was so kind, welcoming, and genuinely helpful. A huge shoutout to Lauryn and Jess, who were truly amazing to work with. They made the whole process feel easy and were always there to guide us, answer questions, and make sure everything stayed on track. The venue itself is absolutely stunning. It is such a unique space, and so many of our guests told us they had never seen a wedding venue like it before. It really made the entire experience feel special and memorable. We had a Hindu ceremony, and the team was incredibly accommodating of all our traditions and requirements. They also helped so much with coordinating everything on the day, which allowed us to be fully present and actually enjoy each moment. One of the most special parts for us was the food. We really wanted Indian food, and the chef took the time to sit down with us, understand our recipes, ingredients, and preferences. They went above and beyond and absolutely delivered. The food turned out amazing and our guests are still talking about it. Everything was so well organized, clean, and thoughtfully put together. The drinks were great, and the coffee bar was such a fun addition that everyone loved. The fireplaces and outdoor patio added such a cozy and beautiful vibe, especially for our winter wedding. It created the perfect space for guests to relax and enjoy the evening. The connected farmhouse was also such a huge plus. It is beautiful and made everything so convenient, especially with the winter weather. Overall, we felt so taken care of throughout the entire process. This is not just a beautiful venue, but a team that truly cares about making your day perfect. We would recommend Harrington Farm to anyone in a heartbeat.”
