Beautiful views, but an exclusionary atmosphere
While the redwoods and mountain views are undeniably lovely, the service at The Mountain Terrace felt transactional, disingenuous, and ultimately unwelcoming. We had an introduction video call with Kim. Her disposition was monochromatic (smiling with her mouth, but not her eyes), especially when congratulating us. I figured she just had a long day; no problem. We communicated during the initial contact as well as during the video call, that our guinea pigs and bunnies are like family to us. As such, we want them to be present at the wedding. When we followed up on this, we were told how people usually hire sitters or put them in crates. I asked about their comfort with at least having them on the lawn area during the ceremony, as they weren't allowed anywhere else - even in the home rental. She repeated her statement about sitters and crates. I saw the most enthusiasm while discussing the pricing. She suggested the premium drink package and home rental (with a strict "no pet" policy). After we explicitly stated our pets travel with us, our needs were clearly not being considered. We declined the rental for ourselves, but mentioned the home would be great for our grandma, who has accessibility needs as she is in her late 90's. Upon arriving for the tour, we weren't a fan of the fake golf-grounds grass down the walkway, but the fire pit area and swing were cute. Unfortunately, the interpersonal experience was equally off-putting with Anastasia. From the time we arrived to when we left, we did not get the impression that we were welcome. I had to initiate a handshake, a basic greeting and form of respect, which was met with a visible pause and the same forced, disingenuous expression as Kim. While we love that there would be a coordinator (I believe in the 2k range at the time I am writing this), as well as a provided list of vendors, we weren't a fan of how long we would have access to the site itself. They claim use for 8 hours, however there's only 5 hours available for the ceremony. 2 hours are used prior to the ceremony for the setup, and an hour near the end is used for the take down. There isn't much reason to stay once the takedown starts at 9/10pm without food or seating. There's a 1k labor charge for each additional hour. She mentioned the house rental, but didn't show the home. There was absolutely no consideration regarding my grandmother’s accessibility needs. More concerning was the lack of diversity in their marketing; out of the several albums of couples with their loved ones on their special day, we found only one person of color, who was a guest. As a couple looking to see ourselves reflected in a venue's history, this was a major red flag. The most telling moment happened as we left. After reaching my car, I realized I forgot my water bottle and stepped back inside, only to find the heater on and music playing. When I returned to the lot, I saw another couple arriving for a tour. We were never offered music or heating at any point. The couple was Caucasian, which shouldn't matter in an ideal world, but it did. It was a stark, painful contrast that confirmed we simply weren't given the "welcome treatment". To note, it was only under a half an hour from when we arrived. We clearly are not their ideal clients. If you are looking for a venue that considers your approaching 100 grandparent, works with people of color, and offers basic hospitality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Our team works hard to create a warm, respectful, and inclusive environment for every couple and family who reaches out to us, and we regret that this was not the impression you were left with Regarding pets at our venue, for the safety of all guests, staff, and animals, our policy, as well as the Health Department , does not allow personal pets inside event spaces, except for service animals. Animals are allowed in outdoor areas provided they are on a leash or in a secure cage or pen. We understand how meaningful pets can be to families and appreciate your desire to dance with your guinea pigs and rabbits during your wedding celebrations and recognize that this policy may be disappointing. We also apologize if we did not clearly communicate options related to accessibility. Our onsite home is often suggested for elderly family members because of its convenience and layout, and we regret if this was not discussed thoroughly during your visit. Unfortunately, we were unable to show it to you as it was occupied while you were touring. We want to be very clear that we welcome and celebrate couples and families of all backgrounds, identities, and cultures. Inclusion is important to us, and we are sorry that our materials did not reflect that commitment. We are actively working to ensure our imagery better reflects the diversity of our clients we serve. The books currently on display were provided by event photographers (complimentary) to help prospective clients visualize the wedding setups at our property, but we recognize that representation matters and appreciate your perspective. Occasionally, elements such as music or heaters are turned on in advance of upcoming tours or events, depending on the day’s schedule. Our on-site salesperson saw you enter the property while she was about to turn on the music and chose to greet you instead of making you wait. The heaters are not turned on for tours. Our banquet manager had turned on the heater by the time you came back in preparation of an upcoming event that day. We regret if this created the impression of inconsistent hospitality. We appreciate you taking the time to share your perspective, as it helps us continue to learn and improve. The Mountain Terrace was the perfect venue for our wedding ceremony. From the beginning, their communication was efficient, helpful, and showed their experience in hosting weddings. The planning process for our morning ceremony was very easy and straightforward, thanks to our coordinator, Caren, who was extremely communicative and a big help on the day. All of the event staff were also amazing and contributed to making our special day beautiful. We could tell how dedicated the staff was to making sure everything went smoothly for us. The location is stunning and the venue is exactly what we had hoped for - our photos turned out amazing and we're so grateful we chose The Mountain Terrace! We struggled to find a venue that would allow us to do just a morning ceremony there since we were having our reception somewhere else. The Mountain Terrace was just what we needed! I would highly recommend this venue.

The Mountain Terrace was a perfect venue for the outdoorsy couple that we are. It balances elegance and homie comfort in a way that could only be unique to them. We worked with Kristy, one of the wedding coordinators who works at the venue, and she was incredible. She never hesitated to get any questions we had answered in a timely manner and went out of her way to make sure our day went off without a hitch. She handled the major coordination of the whole day including between all the additional vendors we had. The food, prepared by the onsite chef was delicious! And the staff were so nice and professional throughout the night. We had an absolute blast the whole night and they never hesitated to make sure we got what we wanted out of the experience. Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the property was and we even had a guest appearance from a small group of deer during dinner. Truly a magical experience.

We got married at The Mountain Terrace this July and cannot thank the entire team enough for putting together such a great day. We worked with Anastasia in the months leading up as a wedding coordinator, and then Kristy in a day of coordinator capacity. Both were absolutely terrific — they were responsive, detailed, and so helpful. With their support, wedding planning felt so much easier. On the day of, Kristy went above and beyond to make sure everything went smoothly. In addition, everyone else on the staff that we interacted with was so kind and helpful. The space itself is gorgeous — outdoorsy and surrounded by nature, but not too remote. Accessibility was also important to us, and The Mountain Terrace is wheelchair-friendly. From the moment we first visited, we knew it was the right place: it has such a cozy, charming vibe. Pricing was reasonable and transparent, which we really appreciated. Overall, The Mountain Terrace completely nailed it — we couldn’t have imagined a better place to celebrate our wedding!
