Black Walnut Farm is a 34-acre historic estate in Saugerties, NY, where the Catskills meet the Hudson Valley and where weddings become full weekends of revelry. Settle in, welcome your favorite people, throw one hell of a party, and actually enjoy it all! Celebrate in our temperature-controlled 1891 barn with a four-foot disco ball, gather around the bonfire, and stay onsite in our 1747 farmhouse. 2027 Wedding Weekend Venue Fees are $13,500 off-season (Nov-April + July) and $16,500 prime season (May-June and Aug-Oct). A two-night farmhouse stay ($1,200/night) and 15% service fee apply; your welcome event has no additional site fee. Most couples plan for an overall wedding budget (including all outside vendors and services) of approximately $55,000–$100,000+. “If anyone were to ask me what my favorite part of my wedding was I’d have to say “Black Walnut Farm!” What a remarkable experience it has been to work with Sarah, Jim, Lish, Lindsey, and of course, Miss Lilly! My partner and I didn’t even bother viewing another venue because we could instantly feel how special the BWF property was — we called 30 minutes after our tour and said we were ready for the contract and deposit. Even still Black Walnut Farm far exceeded our expectations! Everything about this venue is so thoughtfully curated and managed. There is just so much care and consideration that has gone into every inch of this very special place! My partner and I decided to have a “honeymoon” week during the week of the wedding; we chose to have the extended package where we stayed on the property just the two of us. Unwinding in front of the fireplace while playing chess and drinking wine was such a lovely way to relax the night before. The sunroom is the perfect place for getting ready the morning of the wedding! After our wedding (in lieu of an after party) we just asked to have the hot tub ready for us, which was the best move ever! Most importantly, the BWF team were so kind and patient, cool and collected. In the face of some extreme family drama and chaotic spring weather they always rolled with the punches. I felt that I could trust them fully and always felt safe and cared for. I was not afraid to defer to their expertise in the midst of the chaos, and I do not regret any of those decisions! In fact, the backup rain plan ended up being better than the original plan! Thank you again, Black Walnut Farm. You have created something so very, very special and we will be eternally grateful!”

“In today's world everything is extremely overpriced and service is terrible. My wedding was very stressful for me because of this. I did not have a DJ or a Photographer and honestly was considering just something small scale, until I talked to Ed from DJ Double E. I would give them 10 stars out 5. From the minute I talked to Ed it was a breath of fresh air from the million other outrageously priced DJ's. The price is unbeatable but that's not why I would recommend them. They are absolutely phenomenal and made my entire wedding. The music was perfect from ceremony to the last dance. They were so professional, so involved and so fun. We had a daytime (early) wedding. It is so challenging to get people up and have a good time at 12:30 in the afternoon, I was having meltdowns about it, they reassured me but had the entire place up and having fun. You didn't know if it was day or night. They helped us more than the attendants at the venue. Over 100 guests said how amazing they were. The pictures they took could not be any better. Any other DJ who had packages like this (photo booth etc...) were THOUSANDS, yes THOUSANDS, more!!! I really hate to admit but I'm not easily pleased however I would put my name on the line for DJ Double E after how they made my wedding. DJ Double E exceeded all my and my husband's expectations and -consider yourself lucky if you hire them for any event. I'll be calling them again!!!”

My fiance and I love plants and flowers; however, it was important to us to do some of our own arrangements as well as utilizing a reasonably priced florist to help us cover the bigger arrangements/bouquets, without sacrificing quality of the flowers. Enter Ani! Not only was she extremely reasonable in her pricing and flexible in terms of not having a minimum spend requirement, but the flowers she provided were perfection. Couples tell me they forgot I was there, and my favorite compliment is that guests thought I was a family member with a camera. I work with all couples and celebrate every kind of love.

“I cannot emphasize enough how much we loved working with Matthew. I'm going to break this review down into a few areas that I think were particularly meaningful to my experience working with Matthew: Photo Style I think Matthew's portfolio speaks for itself, but I just appreciate so much how his style blends dreamy romantic shots with a photojournalistic approach. My wedding photos really feel like they captured not only the memories of the day, but the feelings we had. Pre and Post Wedding Communication From our initial booking, Matthew was extremely easy to talk to, and made it easy to understand and talk through the details of our contract and what we could expect. I think for people who are planning a wedding for the first time don't realize how much having a vendor who is patient, detail-oriented, and willing to hold your hand and guide you through the process of booking, understanding your goals, and planning for your special day matters, and Matthew could teach a masterclass in this. The pre-work Matthew did of planning, researching the venue, coordinating, and communicating effectively and efficiently was next-level professionalism, and really sets the bar for what it means to book a wedding photographer. I also think it's important to note that all of the post wedding communication has been top-notch – I think it would be understandable to call the job done after the check is paid, but quality of our communication has been consistently amazing. Day-Of Logistics / Shot Direction Matthew and his second photographer followed the plan we had set pre-wedding to a T. They were actively leading the coordinating and making sure we had all of the necessary people ready to keep to our timeline. When it was time to do different set shots (family, bridal party, ceremony, sunset), Matthew had locations in mind and was able to give guidance that made us feel comfortable and natural while getting so so many amazing shots (in very constrained timeframes). Personality I think Matthew has a very high emotional intelligence, and he was so good at genuinely making everyone feel comfortable in subtle ways. My family and my husband are all very camera shy, and notoriously hate getting their photos taken. There were so many little interactions and things that Matthew did and said that made each person feel comfortable in their own way. A few examples that come to mind: - At one point, my mom was leaning against a staircase, and Matthew took a portrait of her and told her she was a natural at posing – up until that point, she had been feeling and looking nervous, and after that she really opened up and looked so happy and comfortable. - My dad is extremely camera shy, hates being on camera and typically looks terrified and self conscious in photos. Matthew said a few things while he was taking our photos that I think really made my dad focus on how excited he was for me and my wedding, and you can just see how happy and loving he is in the photos.”

After moving to Beacon, NY around the same time, it made sense to start an official wedding music business to share their love of music with some of the many happy couples getting married in the Hudson Valley. One thing they love about playing music for weddings is the variety that is required of them. Every gig is different and they all happen on one of the happiest days of the clients' lives!

“If you are currently wedding planning and debating between the elegance of live musicians or the versatility of a DJ, stop looking and hire Justin and Skylark Music immediately. Working with Justin was hands down one of the best decisions we made for our big day. With Skylark, we effectively "had our cake and ate it too." We were initially torn because we wanted the romantic atmosphere of live instruments, but we also wanted a high-energy party with our specific favorite songs (which a band is often limited by). Plus, full bands are insanely expensive. Justin offered the perfect hybrid solution. We were able to have a stunning guitar, violin, and cello trio for our ceremony and cocktail hour, and then transition to Justin DJing the reception. It was the best of both worlds—we saved on the cost of a 10-piece band but sacrificed absolutely nothing in terms of quality or vibe. Beyond the music itself, Justin’s professionalism is unmatched. He walked us through every step of the planning process. But the true test of a vendor is how they handle stress. A couple of months before our wedding, our venue suddenly updated their outdoor music guidelines. We were in a total panic, thinking our ceremony plans were ruined. We let Justin know, and he responded immediately with a calm, "can-do" attitude. He adjusted the instrumentation to meet the new rules quickly and sorted it out without us having to lift a finger. He also went above and beyond to personalize the evening. We have a close friend who is a singer, and we wanted her to perform a couple of songs during the reception. Justin didn't hesitate; he coordinated directly with her to ensure the audio levels were perfect and the logistics were seamless. It ended up being such a special moment, and Justin made it happen effortlessly. And then, there was the party. Justin transitioned to MC/DJ duties and read the crowd perfectly. Because we chose the DJ route for the reception, we got to hear the original versions of all our favorite tracks. The dance floor was absolutely wild all night long. The energy was so high that at one point, while we were taking portraits outside, our photographer actually stopped and told us, “There is literally a rave going on inside.” From the elegant strings and the special guest performance to the absolute rager at the end, Justin executed everything perfectly. If you want a stress-free experience and a vendor who truly cares about your day, hire Skylark Music!”

“Booking DJ Ore was one of the best calls we made for our wedding. From our first phone call to the last song at 1am, he was on top of everything — quick to respond, organized, and genuinely invested in getting our day right. We got married at a camp in the Catskills with the ceremony out in the woods, which meant some tricky logistics: separate sound for the ceremony in the trees, load-in with the venue staff, a timeline that kept shifting on him. Ore handled all of it and we never had to think about any of it. The music was unreal, and he kept the dance floor packed the entire night. Our guests basically refused to leave it, and we honestly lost count of how many people came up to us throughout the night to say how good the music and the DJ were. The thing I'll always remember, though, is how he made space for my Tío to play. My Tío sang and played guitar, and Ore made sure he had everything he needed to do it right. He and Chris brought so much energy and just knew how to keep the room going. If you want a DJ who's professional, easy to talk to, and cares about your day, book him. “I used Heather for our chuppah rental for my wedding at Windham Manor. I saw her brown bark chuppah on Instagram and immediately knew I had to have it. Heather was amazing to work with and the result was absolutely stunning! I am so in love with how it turned out. She even helped me customize the wooden platform from another one of her rentals to work with our chuppah and give me the exact vision I wanted. She was also super flexible. I was slow to decide which location at the venue I wanted the ceremony at and she did not rush me at all. I ended up wanting the ceremony on the grass and the venue said the chuppah would have to be taken down the same night if we were to be allowed to do this. Of course Heather said this would be no problem at all and was immediately willing to stay and do this for us. They day of our wedding ended up being a bit crazy with on and off rain but Heather was totally calm and go with the flow while the planner worked on making the rain decision. She also attached a family tallis to the top of the chuppah and it stayed perfectly, despite the not ideal weather conditions. Highly recommend working with Heather!!!”

I didn't stop dancing the whole time, and at the end, my guests were shouting for an encore (which we got, which resulted in more shouts for more encores). They prepared a custom arrangement for my first dance that was absolutely perfect, and even threw in a rendition of Wonderwall near the end at my special request lol. Just the warmest, best band I could have asked for, and who completely blew me away day-of. 15/10.”

“The ladies at Elle Beauty were friendly and personable, and we enjoyed working with them. However, after my trial I should have pursued someone different for my hair! The makeup was fantastic and Mikayla was so kind, but the hair was not as polished as we expected. I'm attaching my MIL's photo, with her hair and makeup immediately after the stylists left, so you can make your own judgements- that being said, they did ask multiple times if we were comfortable with the look, but we felt a time-crunch and accepted what it was. I've also attached my photo immediately after the session- again, I loved the makeup but I wish my hair was set to last the whole night. Both ladies were flexible when we changed the location last minute, making a long drive to support us at the venue, and we so appreciate that! I would suggest Elle Beauty for those in the immediate Kingston area of NY.”

“We had our wedding at Kindred Creeks at the beginning of May 2022. I have so many great things to say about this place! First off, Jill was extraordinary, caring, attentive and so helpful from start to finish. She was able to work within our budget while keeping our dream wedding a reality. She had rain plans, sunny day plans, plans for more or less people and was thorough throughout. Her father, Gerry, who lives in the farm came out the day before and day of the wedding to make sure we were taken care of and that anything we needed would be done. And the tent staff was kind, courteous and officiant! The grounds itself were gorgeous! We were the first to use the airstream bridal suite which got so many compliments and great photos. They also redid the bridge across the creek for the wedding party to walk over during the ceremony. I fell in love with the green barn and even though it needs to come down soon, they held off construction so we could take pictures in front of it. We got married right where the two creeks meet which was so beautiful. All our guest had nothing be great things to say and we are beyond happy with the experience. If you are thinking of taking a tour of the farm, don’t hesitate! You will fall in love just like we did!”

“If you’re reading this, just do it. Book Gabby as your makeup artist because you won’t regret it. One of the best decisions I made in my wedding planning era. Gabby has been so amazing from the moment I booked her up until the wedding day. She was so sweet and easy to work with, she made me feel comfortable and understood my vision. I barely ever wear makeup but when I looked in the mirror after my trial I felt SO BEAUTIFUL. She knew what I was talking about, when I said Natural but elevated and was so open to any feedback or things I wanted to change. The day of the wedding she was our superhero. My mom had fallen a few days before the wedding and her face had scratches and cuts. Of course we couldn’t put makeup on any open wounds but she worked with my mom and made her feel calm and assured her she would look beautiful.
