Great photography doesn't require you to perform. It requires you to be present. My job is to handle everything else so that when the moments happen, they're honest, and the images reflect exactly how the day felt. Your wedding day moves quickly. I stay calm so you don't have to — present enough to catch every quiet glance and joyful tear, discreet enough that you never feel watched.

Mr. Fields is a skilled photographer and captured every important moment from the engagement to the wedding. The engagement shoot was 3 hours with so many different poses and locations. He did not complain once. The final wedding book product, website, video, and pictures are extremely cute and professional. The pictures and USB came in a beautiful box with the company logo.

Are you tired of scrolling through wedding websites full of photos of shoes/calligraphy/earrings/etc. and wondering where the people are? Do you love moments more than things? If yes, you're in the right place. Forget about the table settings, instead embrace spontaneous joy and honest, natural moments.

Darcy was a pleasure to work with! She was so accommodating and informative throughout the process. I did a lot of our wedding planning at the last minute and I have never had professional photos done so I wasn't exactly sure what to expect but Darcy walked me through the wedding day and made sure that we had a clear plan. She was also very patient with all of my last minute changes to the schedule. I originally reached out to Darcy because I loved the style of her photos and I was incredibly pleased when I saw our photos. I would definitely reach out to her for future events/family photos!

Jessica is AMAZING, we hired her for our wedding and also did the engagement pictures with her. I am brazilian and since she is also I thought maybe my now husband would be a little uncomfortable taking the pictures but no way, not with Jessica, the way she makes everything seems so smooth and simple makes you think you are spending a good afternoon with a friend! And her work is definitely THE BEST! On my wedding day she managed to speak both languages with my family and my guests and took so much amazing pictures that now is hard to choose! Everyone loved her job and she sent the pictures so fast that I was really impressed! From now one my dates for events with pictures will depend on her agenda. My passion for photography grew when my daughter, Lotus, was born in 2004 and I began documenting her childhood with an eye toward catching each irreplaceable moment. Soon, friends and then friends of friends asked me to photograph their children and families. Before long, I was documenting the lives and milestones of people all over the DMV area. I realized how happy I was connecting with people and capturing special moments, and so I launched Lotus Photography in 2012 - named for my first muse. I captured my first wedding in 2016 and I was instantly in love with being a wedding photographer!

Georgette was amazing. We vibes right away because she was so enthusiastic and friendly. She checked in regular, was on time for every call and even reached out to remind me that we should check in. She wished me a happy wedding day the morning of and even the week before. Our pictures are beyond beautiful. I’m really so happy with all of them. The lighting was perfect. My only problem is picking photos to frame because there are too many beautiful ones. She blended right in with our wedding party, jumping in to help with my dress buttons and all! Don’t think about it- just book her!

Hi! I'm Nina and I run Ivy & Quartz photography! I shot my first wedding in 2013, but my journey with photography began long before that. When I was about 10 years old, my dad gave me a camera and I quickly became obsessed. My intrigue continued to grow over the years and I went on to earn my BA in Studio Art , Photography, from the University of Virginia. After graduating I worked as a portrait photographer and decided to pursue and earn my MFA in Imaging Arts from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

We could not be happier with our decision to hire Nina for our wedding! We just received our full wedding gallery and WOW— Nina and her second photographer, Darcy, did such a wonderful job capturing our day. Nina has an excellent eye. Each photo is masterfully composed and the colors are rich. Our gallery had the perfect mix of candids and posed shots. Nina captured so many special moments we weren’t able to experience or see ourselves! We had so much fun going through the gallery and sending our guests the photos they were in. She truly captured the joyous feeling of the day and going through the photos feels like reliving it. Nina is also a great communicator. She is timely in her responses and clear about her process and what to expect. She also makes sure to ask questions about what you want as a couple. We felt calm and comfortable with her. You will be in excellent hands with Nina!! We’d hire her again in a heartbeat.

My partner and I reached out to Xiao for an elopement photo shoot after we got our marriage license. Xiao is always prompt in her responses and offered seamless communication. As newbies, we were a bit confused about the steps on how to get the license, although it was not her job, Xiao gave us many tips. Our elopement photoshoot date was a bit rainy. Xiao offered a few indoor photoshoot spot options. We ultimately went with the Library of Congress, and Xiao even helped us reserve the tickets. Xiao instructed us on how to pose when we felt a bit awkward. We had so many random funny encounters with other visitors at Library of Congress and they gave us many compliments. Xiao went above and beyond to mark sure the day was special for us and that the photoshoot felt personal and fun. My partner is usually camera shy but he eventually opened up. The photos also turned around super quick. The photos came out beautiful although it was a gloomy day. We picked out a dozen photos of our choice two days after the photoshoot and Xiao made the edits turn around super smoothly. Highly recommend booking her to make your special day memorable as well!

When we started our search for photographers, we knew we wanted to work with someone we "clicked" with because that would translate to us being comfortable in front of the camera. I remember the first call with Demetric and just feeling such a sense of ease compared to other photographers we had spoken with, which continued into our first meeting in DC. His flexibility and advice through our planning process was so helpful too.

On our wedding day, Demetric made us and our guests feel so comfortable -- this is such a gift to any couple on a day that is fueled by all of the emotions. Demetric's thoughtfulness, guidance, and joy were so special to have as a part of this day. And while we got to experience someone with such a relaxed demeanor, we know his focus is always on the details of the compositions and capturing unique images in his beautiful style. Demetric's work is incredibly dynamic and his photos are so rich -- we are counting down the days to see more photos from our wedding day!

All in all, if you want someone who is going to roll with the punches, give you awesome ideas, and make you feel at ease, Demetric and his United Photography team are the way to go!

The best way to tell honest stories is through keen observation. How do I know? Because I spent 15 years as a journalist before becoming a wedding photographer. By paying attention to the ways you interact with your loved ones, I capture the in-between moments that will, one day, be significant. And using a trained eye and subtle approach, I do so unobtrusively.

Awarded Best of Zola
Natasha was the first vendor we hired after choosing our venue. She is astonishing. She seamlessly blends into the crowd to take photos that capture the essence of your wedding and always manages to find the perfect picture that will make you cry, laugh, and then cry again. She has a remarkable eye. If you want to get away from stilted formal shots and remember and celebrate the actual day of your wedding, work with Natasha. She makes the entire wedding process a joy, from the initial meeting with her to the date night she set up for you to view your photos. She also does "slice of life" engagement shoots which can be a fun and casual date night that she captures with her incredible camera. Everyone has been blown away by the quality of the pictures. There is a reason that she is a top world wedding photographer. I trust Natasha completely. If you are not interested in classic boring posed photos, you can do no better than to hire Natasha Lamalle immediately. She is a true artist with a camera. You will fall in love over and over again through her photos.

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Cesar was so wonderful to work with, and his photos were AMAZING. All of our wedding guests have been going gaga over the photos. Everyone enjoyed getting to know him - he blended in just like one of our friends! I only wish we'd had him come for more time!

It is all about enthusiasm, creativity and love. I love what I do and what I can find and capture in people and their surroundings. All these little details and grand views, I don't want to miss them. No matter a tear drop from her eyes or secretly holding hands behind the love table.

Yifei is incredible! We made a last minute decision to get engagement photos during peak bloom, and she managed to accommodate us on short notice. She was super professional throughout the entire process, remaining extremely responsive and getting photos to us on time and even earlier than we were promised. In terms of the photos, they’re absolutely beautiful! She knew all the best spots around the tidal basin and we got such a great variety of locations. My fiancé and I had no idea what poses to do, but she always knew exactly how we should pose and what would turn out good. Couldn’t recommend her enough!!

We truly can’t say enough great things about Jennifer. From our very first meeting, to the wedding day itself, she was kind, professional, and just so easy to be around. We held an engagement shoot with her a few months before the wedding, and it was such a great experience. It really helped us get comfortable in front of the camera and gave us a chance to get to know her style. The photos from that shoot were beautiful, and we knew we were in great hands for the big day. On the wedding day, Jennifer was amazing. She was calm, organized, and always in the right place at the right time without ever being intrusive. She captured so many beautiful candid moments, along with all the must-have shots, and somehow made it all feel natural and fun. When we got the photos back, we were blown away. I'm a visual enthusiast with a degree in Arts Management. My style is mostly photojournalistic, embracing natural and romantic elements. In each wedding, my aim is to craft something different and unique, capturing a set of storytelling moments that reflect the essence of the day. What truly drives me is the moment when my clients receive the picture, and tell me how they love them. Knowing that my work will be forever cherished by others adds a meaningful layer.

Awarded Best of Zola
Working with Villa was one of the best choices we made as part of wedding planning. During the initial planning, she was responsive, thoughtful, and considerate of our vision. She understands that most people have never planned a wedding before helped us not only plan photos, but reorganize our reception to flow better. My husband and I are very photo shy, enough so that we debated on whether or not to even hire a photographer for the wedding. Villa was so great at directing interesting, natural poses that didn't feel forced or awkward in the moment. We opt-ed not to do an engagement shoot, but if we had to do it all over again, we absolutely would with Villa. During day of, Villa was extremely detailed and organized. She arrived early to the venue to capture photos and understand the space overall. She was very good about taking photos in a way that didn't interrupt the flow of events while navigating a fairly large and irregularly shaped venue. We received a great blend of editorial and photo-journalistic images that really captured the day beautifully. She has a great eye for wide shots, close up details, and artistic framing. Our wedding day started on a sunny day at noon and ended in the evening. Villa shot great photos throughout all the lighting changes during the day including many flash photography and low light shots after the sun had set. We had a great experience sharing our wedding day with Villa and think you would too!

My name is Casey, I'm a 30-something year old photographer from Northern Virginia who shoots on a combination of digital and film! With me, you'll receive true-to-color-but-better photos that are a combination of both candid and posed moments. While I am newer to wedding photography, I'm not new to capturing moments of joy, love, and tenderness between couples and their loved ones. When I'm not taking photos, you'll find me cuddled up at home with my wife and our two cats, going on ridiculously long walks, or watering my many houseplants.

Casey is so lovely to work with! Neither of us are the most comfortable taking photos, but she made it so we felt as if we were just being ourselves. The adjustments she makes are comfortable and clever, and I can’t wait to do another session with her!

Hiring Kelly was absolutely one of the best decisions that we made for our wedding and we can’t recommend her highly enough. She spent so much time getting to know us before the wedding, and our photos very clearly reflect her attention to capturing what was important to us. We really wanted to see the joy and breadth of emotions of the day and wanted photos that reflected our wedding as vibrant and loving, and that shines through in every photo!! Kelly is also so personable and brings such a wonderful energy to all parts of the process which made us feel so comfortable and so happy to have her with us! In addition to creating a photography schedule that was invaluable and that we shaped the rest of the schedule around, she made sure to note people’s accessibility needs and to work with us closely on comfort for everyone as we had a lot of access needs. She answered every question we had happily and was just such a wonderful part of our day!! She also did our engagement photos at Great Falls and they turned out just so gorgeous. I had a lot of anxiety about how I would feel about the photos as a plus size bride and Kelly listened to my concerns and made me so comfortable and I’m so so thrilled with the photos and feel gorgeous in all of them, which I'm very grateful for!

Lindsay and I go way back; 4th grade to be exact. I was the new girl in a new school - and so was she! We bonded over this shared experience and became friends. Fast forward to 2019. Lindsay and I had lost touch because we’d both moved around quite a bit, but we stayed in touch through social media. And how serendipitous that turned out to be! Both Lindsay and I ended up in Virginia, only a few miles from one another. She started her photography business, Lindsay King Photography, with her husband, Greg, in Arlington and it just so happened that my sister was looking for a wedding photographer who would travel outside the country. I messaged Lindsay, asking if it was something she’d be interested in. She enthusiastically accepted. My sister was absolutely thrilled with her wedding photos, so much so that when it was my turn to choose, I knew exactly who to pick. Lindsay and Greg were fantastic to work with. They came with my soon-to-be husband and me to the lighthouse where we held our intimate wedding ceremony. Later that evening, they took photos of our beach reception. The photos they took were amazing and they made it a day I will never forget. They truly made this experience so easy and enjoyable and I’ll treasure the memories through their photos forever.

I’m Sara, and I’ve been a full-time wedding photographer serving the Maryland, DC, and Virginia regions since 2006. My goal is for you to be fully present during the happiest time of your life while I document your story with a natural, photojournalistic style. Most days, you’ll find me editing with a coffee in hand, but on weekends, I’m running across the DMV to capture the candid moments and soulful details you’ve poured your heart into. I’ve worked through every season and venue over the last 20 years, ensuring every memory is preserved in timeless, high-resolution imagery.

Working with Sara Vars Photography was a game-changer for our wedding day. She communicated with us in a straightforward way from start to finish, making the whole process easy and stress-free. When things didn't go as planned, Sara rolled with it and kept things moving forward. She also remembered details I had forgotten about, which made such a difference in capturing our day. Her photos are stunning and absolutely worth the investment. We couldn't be happier with the work she did for us and would recommend her to any couple looking for a photographer who is looking for quality and ease.

We had a fantastic experience working with Nadine for our newborn and family photo session. From our first meeting, she was warm, kind, and incredibly professional—she took the time to walk us through her portfolio and made us feel completely at ease. During the shoot, she had such a gentle and natural way with our baby, and it really shows in the photos. We were so impressed with the number and quality of images she delivered—and so quickly too! Highly recommend her to anyone looking for beautiful, heartfelt family photography.
