After I finished my PhD in genetics and molecular biology at Yale, I left behind a career as a research scientist to pursue a lifelong dream as a professional sax player. While the pandemic was a roadblock to many musicians, I managed to gain momentum as a street performer when I began hosting outdoor concerts for the local entertainment-deprived graduate students. A few of my fellow graduates asked me to perform at their weddings, and even DJ, so I spent the next two years honing my skills and constructing a very 80's synthwave-style brand and equipment to match the vibe.

DJ NickyVon is musically diverse and skilled in many aspects of DJing. Having graduated from Scratch DJ Academy, Chicago, he's extremely dedicated and immersed in the DJ community. Having grown up in the 90's he couldn't help but fall in love with hip-hop, but that also played an important part as he learned to explore other genres like, rock, house music, and funk. His diverse music knowledge allows him to blend in any type of environment. Brands such as Match.com and State Farm have trusted him to create a fun and exciting atmosphere for some of their events.

I love what I do. I have been singing since age 8 and DJing since 15. I found a way to combine the best parts of music for an amazing wedding experience! People are wowed at the elegance of live music during cocktails as a first impression. Then they are treated to their favorite songs on the dance floor with me as the dj! It’s a perfect balance!
