About Nostalgia Rush

Lucas Sanor

Owner, DJ + Saxophonist

After I finished my PhD in genetics and molecular biology at Yale, I left behind a career as a research scientist to pursue a lifelong dream as a professional sax player. While the pandemic was a roadblock to many musicians, I managed to gain momentum as a street performer when I began hosting outdoor concerts for the local entertainment-deprived graduate students. A few of my fellow graduates asked me to perform at their weddings, and even DJ, so I spent the next two years honing my skills and constructing a very 80's synthwave-style brand and equipment to match the vibe.

My approach to DJing is a strong intersection of reading the crowd, customization by the bride and groom, and my own unique repertoire. When mixing, I carefully consider the tastes of the couple and the crowd, and frequently “quick mix” by visiting the most memorable parts of songs to keep the energy high. When I play sax, I never replace the dancefloor music, but rather tastefully season it with my saxophone — multiplying the energy and excitement on the dance floor and consistently leaving the dancers asking for more. My model isn’t cookie-cutter service; I only book two weddings per month!

    Very Professional and High-Energy

    I saw him at a wedding at Salvatore’s in Chicago. Everyone had a great time, and the dancing and energy were non-stop. The dance floor was always active, and everyone was enjoying themselves. Very professional setup and great attention to detail.

    Amazing!!!!

    Lucas was the life of the party at our Oak Hill Farm wedding and made our day truly incredible. From our first conversation, he was responsive and professional, getting back to us right away with thoughtful answers to all our questions. What really blew us away was how he learned multiple songs just for us and coordinated seamlessly with our DJ to create different vibes throughout the night. His energy was contagious and kept our guests dancing the entire time. We loved how he adapted the setlist and mood as the evening went on, from dinner to dancing.     HIGHLY Recommend.

    I married the love of my life in Bloomington, Illinois. My wife and I discovered Nostolgia Rush at a wedding expo. He caught our attention because he seemed to be the only vender having fun, as he jammed on his saxophone and was just having a fantastic time. It was the exact vibe we wanted for our wedding. Exciting, unique, and celebratory. My wife and I are so glad we chose him! Communication was always timely, thoughtful, and professional. He took the time to get to know us, asking relevant questions to help tailor our experience. Our reception was on Illinois Wesleyans campus (I worked there at the time), and University Event Coordinators told me that he was one of the easiest people to work with, and they thanked *us* for hiring Nostalgia Rush. He is a fantastic musician and DJ. I highly recommend him! You won't regret it.

    Dance Floor Full All Night!

    Couldn’t recommend this DJ more. Between the communication before the wedding and the energy and vibe he brought - Lucas is the best! My husband and I are dancers so we were very particular about our music and Lucas was our perfect match. He kept the dance floor full all night and so many of our guests asked for his info so they could recommend him to friends! We had friends who hired a different saxophonist to play over their DJ to mimic our wedding and it didn’t compare. If you want a fun wedding - Lucas is your man!

    At a wedding right now that this guy is playing at, and he absolutely rocks. Easily best DJ we’ve had in 20+ weddings. So good on the saxophone!!
