Pennywell Events started in the name of passion; passion for a good party, for an elegant and personal experience, but mostly passion for creating a spectacular event. Hi! I'm Alicia, the owner/lead planner/"it" girl of Pennywell Events. I absolutely love to plan weddings, no really, it's what I have dreams about most nights. I worked in the NYC fashion industry for about 5yrs, and while it wasn't what I was hoping for, it did give this New Orleans native the opportunity to move back to Louisiana. It also gave me the chance to expand my knowledge and eventually find out that I really wanted to plan weddings!

At Pennywell Events, we believe that you should get to enjoy being engaged and actually have fun planning your wedding! Our focus is always on how your wedding feels, not just how it looks. We handle the stressful decisions and all the behind-the-scenes logistics so that on the day, you can be fully present and in the moment. Planning with a balanced and manageable schedule to avoid the overwhelm, gives you more time together not discussing the wedding on date nights. Because your wedding isn't the end, it's just the beginning.

Crash my elopement challenge
I can’t say enough good things about Pennywell Events. From our first call, she understood my “crash my elopement” vision and was all in. We traveled from Michigan to New Orleans wanting something between an elopement and a full wedding, no easy task, especially without a firm guest count. She handled everything flawlessly, planning for 20–30 guests (we had 23), securing a stunning dinner venue, and creating an elevated, intimate experience. The second line she arranged was unforgettable and still talked about by our guests, and the photographer she connected us with was perfect, giving us the best photos around the city. As an out of state bride, I felt completely taken care of. She brought our vision to life better than I imagined and at a price point that exceeded expectations. Truly an amazing experience.

Sarah, It's only 2 more years until your first official Leap Day wedding anniversary! Planning from scratch to day of in 3 months might be my biggest testament to "getting it done quick fast and in a hurry". And then being able to take it from "a small elopement" to a micro-wedding of 23 was such a fun challenge as a wedding planner. I hope that you two are enjoying marriage everyday and thriving! Alicia and Allison saved the day!
We chose to do a destination wedding in NOLA and didn’t know anything about our vendors or where to start, just had a dream, a dress, and a ring. Alicia and Allison were the best and easiest choices we made throughout our wedding planning process. Their attention to detail and commitment to helping us plan the perfect day is unmatched. They both are the sweetest, kindest humans ever and truly take pride in their work. They genuinely care about the people they are working with and go above and beyond. We had a few hiccups on our wedding day that were the result of other vendors and these ladies stepped it up to smooth things over so the day ran smoothly. They provided an extremely detailed timeline of events and maintained communication with us and all of the vendors leading up to the event. I highly recommend going with Pennywell events for your wedding if you want a duo of planners that will be in your life beyond your wedding day. We are so fortunate to have them as friends and have gotten to celebrate more major life events with them. Alicia: I’ve been in the wedding business since 2013. After I planned my own wedding in 2011, I just wanted to do more wedding planning any way that I could. So, I became an assistant to other wedding planners and learned all that I could. I've planned more than 50 weddings under my own company and have even expanded to have Associate Planners and Assistants to be able to take on more weddings and be there for even more couples.

We are based in New Orleans and do the majority of weddings in the city. We have done weddings outside of the New Orleans area (Braithwaite, Natchitoches, West Monroe) but our home base where we have a wonderful collective of amazing vendors is in the New Orleans area.

No, as planners, we only take on one wedding per weekend so that our couples can get our undivided attention. Alicia and Allison can both lead separate weddings in a single weekend but individually we only do one per weekend.

Not at this time.

Yes, we do have a team of people to help on the wedding day as assistants but the planner that you speak with on your initial consultation call, either Alicia or Allison, will be your lead planner who will be with you from start to finish and on-site for your wedding day.

For the consultation call, we do a full hour so that we can hear your vision, you can ask us all of your questions and we can also go over the full breakdown of how we plan your wedding. During planning, we try to connect at least once a month with our couples, if not more when needed. We are extremely communicative throughout the planning process. Closer to the wedding, you will hear from us much more often as we finish up the details. For the wedding weekend, we are with you through it all til the very end.
