I have been a photographer for the last 20 years, shooting weddings, elopements and portraits. I'm proud to have shot more than 150 same-sex weddings, which is probably more than, well, just about anyone. That said, I’ve worked with as many straight couples as LGBTQ ones. I don't discriminate. There are many other photographers whose work inspire me, but my primary inspiration comes from painters. Rembrandt, Vermeer, Sargent, to name a few.

Here's are some random facts about me. I… Saw a ghost once. Ask me to tell the story. Still cry when Bambi's Mother dies. Mastered Photoshop before I learned photography. Love to sing (what I lack in tone, I make up for in volume). Lived in Italy for a year and would go back in a second. Once photographed a rarely seen sperm whale, just below the Arctic Circle. Designed ten-years’ worth of souvenir books for Walt Disney World Love live theater and have seen over 500 shows since moving to New York. Created my own costume jewelry line, which was featured in Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Elle, and Life magazine, among many others.

A NYC Elopement

Description

An Elopement is a small wedding with the couple and just a few guests. It involves capturing moments from the ceremony as well as couples shots. If there are guests, I can also do some informal group shots. Pricing for elopements are very simple. Packages start at $700 for two hours. Each additional hour is $450 Each hour booked includes a $50 print or album credit. Packages can go as long as 8 hours if you want to cover many locations in the city.

From start to finish, Steven was a true professional. His communication style was blunt and clear, but also came with great ideas that really helped capture the vibe of our special day. The quality of the work and value was exceptional - he perfectly captured the energy and emotion of our wedding. He was also extremely on top of the schedule, ensuring he got all the important shots. The outdoor couple photos that Steven scouted earlier in the week were absolutely magnificent. We didn't even realize he was capturing so many of the little details and special moments with our family and friends, but those ended up being some of our favorite photos. Steven got us the proofs and final files extremely quickly, and we can't recommend him and his team enough.

Having an LGBTQIA friendly wedding photographer was really important to us. Steven was the perfect choice. He was incredibly responsive, went above and beyond with answering our questions as we reviewed photographer options, did an incredible job day of navigating challenging weather, and delivered our final photos before we could even get back from our honeymoon. I would highly recommend him to any LGBTQIA couple getting married in the NYC metro area and/or anyone getting married in Central Park given his extensive experience photographing in the park.

Working with Steven was great! My husband and I got married at City Hall and had in mind wandering around the city streets and City Hall Park, etc. This was a bit of an "on the fly" photo session and Steve was not only flexible and down with what we wanted, he found some terrific locations we wouldn't have thought of. When we got our file with the photos we made a short list of ones to order that was anything but "short"! It took us a while to finalize our list because there were so many photos that we loved. You can't go wrong using Steven. He is talented, friendly, flexible and we are thrilled with our pictures!

Steven was a godsend for my husband and I. Not only is he an incredibly creative and effective wedding photographer, he helped us with insight and experience to ensure our entire day went off without a hitch. Very few people can say their wedding was perfect- but we were blessed to have not just a perfect day, but a day that exceeded our highest goals and expectations and much of that was due to Steven. We will be forever grateful for his vision, organization, insights and style.

I have literally done elopements with less than 24 hours notice. Not ideal, but if I'm free and I can find myself an assistant on short notice, I'm in! For larger weddings, it's best to book with at least a few months lead time to take advantage of your engagement session, & use those images for save-the-dates or sign-in books. That said, I've done big weddings on short notice too.

I always bring an assistant to help hold lights and carry equipment during the couple shots. A second photographer is usually called for with larger weddings. I recommend adding a second when you have more than 100 guests and/or when the couple are getting ready in separate locations and both need coverage.

All final images will be edited for color, saturation, exposure, and sharpness to ensure they look beautiful. I also offer retouching services like blemish removal and teeth whitening for an additional charge.

No, I prefer focusing on photography only, so you can get the best wedding pictures possible.

I try to send out some teaser images within 2 to 3 days. My turnaround time for the full collection varies by season. Typically, you’ll be able to view your photos online about 4-6 weeks after your wedding.

You can expect about 80 to 100 images per hour of photographing. But keep in mind this estimate varies depending on your wedding package, number of guests, venue type, and other factors. If you have added in a second shooter, then 125 to 175 images per hour is more likely.

I do! Just let me know if your venue requires a certificate of liability, and I’ll send that over to them.

I once shot a wedding with a broken foot. That was a nothing compared to the wedding I shot while passing a kidney stone. My point being that it would take a lot to keep me away. In 20 years as a wedding photographer, I’ve never cancelled a booking, but if something crazy happens, like, say, a worldwide pandemic, I’ll do everything I can to make sure you’re covered by one of my colleagues.
