Hi! I’m Liesl, founder of Liesl nyc. I started my career at an old time photo tourist trap in South Dakota and came to the big city to be a fashion photographer (with a few stops along the way.) Though I found a love for portraits and weddings and made that my focus, I’ve kept the editorial aesthetic. Though I’ve lived in Brooklyn for 15 years I’ve kept the South Dakota demeanor. A calm and comfortable presence helps a lot when you’re not used to being followed around by a photographer. Getting great pictures shouldn’t be intimidating. It’ll be way more fun than you think

Representation is so important and we want every couple to see themselves in our images. We see you and want your love and relationship translated to your photos. We take the time and care to go against the grain and create an experience that feels natural and real. We never apply a cookie-cutter approach, we capture your love in a way that’s right for you (not everybody else). Liesl did our engagement pictures and we very shortly after decided to book her for our wedding as well! We absolutely loved working with Liesl - we both felt a little awkward posing, but she did such a wonderful job helping us and making us feel comfortable! On our wedding day, Liesl was such a calming presence with expert perspective on where to get the perfect shot! We got our previews back from the wedding and were absolutely stunned by how beautiful they were. She's got such an eye for photography and we could never thank her enough for so perfectly capturing our special day! Everyone who has seen our previews has been blown away by them, and we're so grateful to have these photos as memories to look back on. As an added touch, the morning after our wedding, we found some amazing polaroids that Liesl had left in our card box for us - we absolutely loved looking at them the next day and it was such a special touch. We would absolutely recommend working with Liesl and could not be happier with our decision to work with her! If you're looking for amazing wedding photos, look no further!!

As soon as we booked our venue, we booked Liesl! My partner and I did not want conventional wedding photos. In fact, before even planning our own wedding, I cringed seeing so many wedding photos that looked exactly the same: overposed, soft filter, cheesy smiles. As a queer/trans couple, it was super important that we worked with someone who knows and respects queer love and doesn’t force convention when it comes to setting up the shots. When I saw Liesl’s work, I instantly thought “she gets it,” and working with her went above and beyond! With twenty years of experience shooting weddings, Liesl has the perfect balance of expertise, dynamism, and empathy. She is confident in what she does and keeps things professional, while also being someone we were earnestly so happy to get a beer with and hang and smooch in front of. The inclusion of an engagement session was an absolute dream, and let us have a preview of what the dynamic on the day would be like, which was, in a word, effortless. Liesl has an excellent sense of how much to direct and when to let people just be – and the results speak for themselves. We always felt like ourselves. Book Liesl – you will be so happy you did, and that you have her photos to keep the day going for years to come!

I cannot brag about having Liesl as our wedding photographer enough. She immediately knew our vibe and delivered pictures that could easily be in a magazine. Also we got our sample photos TWO DAYS LATER?! On top of it all she is so calm, kind, and just such a lovely person to be around. I truly cannot recommend her enough.

We had a wonderful experience working with Alexis from Photo Pink. Alexis was professional and the perfect mix of go with the flow while making sure she got the best shots! My only complaint would be that it did take a long time to get the photos and we had to follow up with Liesl a few times about when to expect them. She always responded to those messages promptly though and tried to keep us updated about when we would get our gallery. It was well worth the wait because the photos are exactly what we wanted! Would definitely recommend Photo Pink@
