With 16 years experience, Mel Barlow is an internationally recognized photographer who has been commissioned for commercial, lifestyle, editorial and high profile events worldwide. She is drawn to environmental and lifestyle portraiture and still life photography incorporating common threads of texture, airy spaces and clean lines. Her photographic sensibility creates raw, personal images that evoke a range of emotions.

Mel's natural attention to detail, along with the ebb and flow of her process, leads to the effortless capturing of a subject's true essence. Her ability to intuitively anticipate and read a person's sentiment is apparent while she's shooting and is reflected beautifully in her photos.

    Mel is a creative visionary whose style, gentleness and compassion truly sets her apart from the rest. An artist in her own right. It's not always the most comfortable being photographed and Mel has a way of putting you at ease and giving direction that really helps soften any nervousness or self consciousness. If you want someone who's able to tell the story of you and bring out the best of you and your day, then look no further! I hope I have the privilege of working with her again. She truly is one of a kind.

    Mel Barlow is the best! She was super professional and took the time prior to our wedding to get to know us through phone calls and emails. By the time the wedding came around I felt like Mel totally understood my vision (even though I couldn't even articulate what that vision was) and was able to capture that through our photos. She's that good! I was anxious to take photos because we have a big family and a lot of opinions but Mel made everything stress free and actually fun for all of us. Even without a preliminary engagement shoot (to get us comfortable in front of the camera) my husband and I felt at ease with Mel leading us! Don't even get me started on the actual photos...they are incredible! Mel captured our personalities so perfectly and I am obsessed with every single photo.

    Mel is an absolute dream to work with! As a wedding planner, I've worked with a lot of photographers over the years, but I keep going back to Mel because she goes above and beyond and always delivers. She takes the time to get to know her couples and truly connects with them, which resonates through her images. It's easy to see why she's so sought after; her photography is a work of art, but what sets her apart is her approach on the wedding day. She puts everyone at immense ease with her kindness and down-to-earth spirit. Take it from a pro, feeling at ease on your wedding day is priceless! I really can't recommend her enough!
