If I could give MCEV more than 5 stars, I would! Going into wedding planning, I fully expected it to be stressful, overwhelming, and way more complicated than it needed to be. However, the team at Mountain Crust made it feel SO easy. From day one, their communication was amazing. They were always quick to respond, answered every random question we had, and made us feel completely taken care of throughout the entire process! The venue itself is absolutely beautiful! Every little detail feels intentional, and you can tell how much love and care has gone into creating the space. It was exactly the vibe we were going for and felt so us. Seeing the vision I'd been dreaming about for over a year finally come to life was such a surreal moment, and Mountain Crust absolutely nailed it. Now let's talk about the pizza. It was INCREDIBLE!! We knew it would be great, but it somehow still exceeded expectations. They were also so accommodating with guests who had allergies or were gluten-free, which meant so much to our guests and us! We even got to make our own personal pizzas to enjoy as a late night snack when we got back to our hotel which was just what we needed! The staff deserves all the praise in the world. They were so fun, so kind, and somehow everywhere they needed to be at exactly the right time. A special shoutout to Jeff, who was unbelievably sweet and made sure I got a cookie while I was out on the dance floor. It sounds like such a small thing, but it's one of those little moments that I'll always remember :) I also can't say enough good things about Janae and Aubrey! They were absolute rockstars throughout the planning process and on the wedding day itself. Everything ran so smoothly that I genuinely never had to worry about a single thing. They handled everything behind the scenes and somehow flipped the space from ceremony to reception so quickly it felt like magic! We seriously can't thank those two enough!! Since the wedding, we've gotten endless compliments about the venue, the food, the staff, and the overall atmosphere. Multiple guests have told us it was one of the best weddings they've ever been to, which is about the highest compliment we could ask for! At the end of the day, Mountain Crust wasn't just a venue, it was a huge part of what made our wedding feel so special. It was hands down the best day of my life, and if I could do it all over again, I'd choose Mountain Crust every single time! 3

We had our wedding on the rooftop of Greats of Craft in September. We COULD NOT be happier with how the event turned out!!! First and foremost, Joe & Stella are awesome to work with - such friendly and genuine people. They made the planning process as stress-free as it could be, by being communicative, dependable, and accommodating. We already loved the venue, but meeting with them made it an easy decision to choose GoC. We held a mini-ceremony and the reception on the rooftop for 60 people. We wanted it to be less formal (like an “elevated party”) but still trendy, and GoC checked all the boxes. The vibes and setting were PERFECTION: the backdrop of the Queensboro Bridge at dusk for our ceremony; cute string lights with a brick wall and large screen for our slideshow, perfect weather, plenty of room for people to mingle, sit down to eat, and dance. The ENTIRE GoC team/staff were amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and took great care of us and all of our guests. Shout out to Trey and Eddie!! We went with in-house catering for the food - Chef Chris is the best and everything tasted delicious!!! We got SO many compliments on the food from our guests. We still continue to rave about GoC being such a gem of an event space. Trying to find a reasonably-priced, high-quality wedding venue in NYC is difficult and sometimes discouraging. We feel so fortunate that we were able to have our wedding celebration here, it felt like a complete DREAM!!! Thank you, Joe & Stella and the whole GoC crew!!

A Dream Wedding at Margeaux Supper Parlor We hosted our engagement party turned wedding at Margeaux Supper Parlor, and it was pure magic. From the moment we stepped inside, we were blown away by the beauty of the space - especially the bar, which created the most stunning backdrop for photos we’ll cherish forever. Rebekah, the owner, and her incredible team thought of everything. From a custom, dairy-free menu (which was so important to me) to specialty passed cocktails and thoughtful service throughout, not a single detail was missed. The private oasis room was the perfect retreat for a quiet moment together during the celebration and added such a personal touch to the evening. And yes, we even sabered champagne! Whether it’s a bridal shower, engagement party, or wedding, we can’t recommend Margeaux enough. It’s a truly special place run by truly special people.

We absolutely loved having our 55-person wedding at Bar Carlo. The owner Mel is at the same time very supportive and very low-key, which made for a smooth planning process and day-of event. The space is gorgeous, and has multiple connected wings, which allowed for the the party to morph seamlessly over the night from barside cocktail hour to outdoor patio ceremony to dinner buffet to dance floor. The space is already a beautifully decorated artwork, and Mel lets you decide how to arrange the space for your event, but you can also bring your own decorations/sound system/llama and she can handle those additions easily. The food and drinks were delicious too, and Mel was able to accommodate our entirely vegan and gluten-free menu without hesitation. Overall we loved the unique-ness, flexibility and good vibes of the space and the people of Bar Carlo, and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a cute and fun space for their wedding or other event. -Nicola & Lou

We had our wedding at Moonflower, and it was amazing! We originally found Moonflower on Zola. Although we are from the area, we had never visited before, and the photos immediately caught our attention. The bar fit our vibe perfectly, and after visiting a few times, we knew it was the right place for us. We rented both spaces: the main bar upstairs and Nightshade, the speakeasy downstairs. Moonflower has a small stage in the main bar, which we used for our ceremony. The space already has so much character that it needed very little decorating. We brought small flower vases and an altar piece that the bride and her now mother in law made together. After the ceremony, we held cocktail hour and served food buffet style in the main bar. Later, everyone moved downstairs to Nightshade. Its lounge atmosphere and dance floor were perfect for our 50 to 60 guests. Some people relaxed around the cocktail tables while others danced, so everyone could enjoy the night in their own way. Moonflower’s event organizer, Morgan, was wonderful. She made the entire planning process feel easy and was a joy to work with. She helped turn our ideas into reality, assisting with day of logistics, décor, beverage packages, and every question that came up. She was always responsive and available. Morgan also helped us think through details that had not occurred to us, including coffee for our guests, explaining the parking situation, contacting nearby businesses about using their lots, and recommending DJs. We ultimately hired one of the DJs she suggested. Her extra support was incredibly helpful and took a great deal of stress out of planning. If you have not tried Moonflower’s drinks, you are missing out. Their regular cocktail menu is fantastic, and our experience was even more special because of a custom cocktail session with Zach. He created signature drink options for each of us based on our tastes and favorite cocktails. Every option was spectacular, and the final drinks felt personal and special. We chose Funeral Potatoes for the food. Since they already handle the food at Moonflower, we were able to try many dishes beforehand. Our guests raved about everything. We especially recommend the brussels sprouts, deviled eggs, and caprese sandwiches. Alexis, who heads up Funeral Potatoes, was also extremely helpful with selecting the menu. The only outside food we brought in was our wedding cake. The entire staff was phenomenal. Everyone treated the occasion with the perfect balance of care, professionalism, and fun. The night went off without a hitch and was truly one of the best nights of our lives. Moonflower was also extremely reasonable compared with other venues we considered in the city, especially with an open bar and food available on site. Street parking was plentiful, and none of our guests had trouble finding a spot. For anyone looking for a relaxed wedding for 50 to 60 people with a memorable lounge atmosphere, fantastic staff, buffet style food, and exceptional cocktails, Moonflower should be at the top of your list.

We had our wedding at The Backyard on 13th, and I honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience. From the moment we started working with Amy and her team, we knew we had chosen the right place to celebrate such an important day. We were the first full wedding that The Backyard on 13th had hosted. You honestly never would have known it. The amount of care, attention to detail, patience, organization, and professionalism that Amy and her team showed throughout our wedding was incredible. They handled everything with such confidence and made the entire experience feel seamless. The venue itself is absolutely beautiful and has so much character. It gave us the perfect backdrop for our ceremony, photos, and reception, and our guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about the space. We loved that it felt intimate, warm, and personal while still giving us the flexibility to bring our own vision to life. Amy and her entire team went above and beyond what was expected of them. They were incredibly attentive, patient, professional, and genuinely invested in making sure our wedding day was everything we hoped it would be. They didn’t just provide us with a beautiful venue — they made us feel cared for throughout the entire process. One of the things that meant the most to us was how incredible they were with our kids. We had several children who were an important part of our wedding, and The Backyard had a staff member specifically designated to tend to the kids during the reception. This was such an amazing and thoughtful touch. It allowed us to actually relax, enjoy our reception, and be present in the moment without constantly worrying about whether our kids were okay. Knowing they were being looked after by people who were so kind, patient, and attentive made a HUGE difference for us. Your wedding day goes by so quickly, and having a team that you can trust makes all the difference. We never felt like we were just another event on their calendar. Amy and her team made us feel like our wedding genuinely mattered to them, and that is something we will always remember. We are so grateful to The Backyard on 13th, Amy, and the entire team for helping make our wedding day so special. They played such a huge part in creating memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. What started as a relationship with our wedding venue turned into something so much more — Amy and her team have truly become more like family to us, and we feel incredibly lucky that our wedding brought these amazing people into our lives. If you are considering The Backyard on 13th for your wedding or special event, DO IT! We would wholeheartedly recommend them.

Highly recommend for an intimate and high-quality experience for wedding rehearsal and cocktail hours. Ellery and team were nothing short of perfect. She was very prompt and organized, making our entire evening seamless and stress-free. The food was nothing short of outstanding, all guests were overly impressed with the quality. The team was also very flexible with us, bringing out more food than we anticipated as we had guests arriving late due to travel delays and were unable to dine prior to the cocktail hour. We loved it so much that we ended up extending the party because everyone was having such a great time. La Cave was the perfect size for an intimate celebration for about 90 guests and 40 for our rehearsal dinner. Highly recommend for hosting a rehearsal dinner and or cocktail hour.

About wedding venues

How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors
