I present fun, elegant, and exciting Wedding Photography for my clients. My style is photojournalistic; I feel it's the most effective way to tell a story. • Starts at $2,100
  • Serves Washington, DC

Hi! I’m Trevaughn Smith (he/him), a published queer wedding & portrait photographer based in the DC, Maryland & Virginia area. I’ve made it my life’s work to become a visual storyteller for couples who value authenticity, individuality, and non-traditional love stories. I’m great at blending into the background and capturing honest, unscripted moments – the kind that reflect your real connection. Whether you’re exchanging vows on an LGBTQ+-owned farm, having a small gathering at a Michelin-star restaurant, or celebrating love at the Maryland Renaissance Festival, I’ll be there to document your day as it naturally unfolds.

Awarded Best of Zola
From the moment we met Trevaughn, we knew he was the perfect person to bring all of the pieces of our wedding vision together. We’ve had the opportunity to plan and shoot with him before as he helped my husband plan a surprise proposal shoot at DC’s Minetta Tavern. From his unmatched skill behind the camera to his kind and thoughtful direction that highlighted our family and friends so beautifully, he exceeded all of our expectations and left a wonderful lasting impression on everyone he captured. His final product highlighted our casual elopement dinner with such elegance and care, and we’re quick to recommend him to our newly engaged friends without a second thought!

We chose Brendan Beale Photography for our wedding!! From the very beginning Brendan was so helpful, responsive, and professional. We felt immediately happy with our choice upon our first encounter with him! Brendan was BY FAR our favorite vendor we worked with for our wedding! Our wedding had multiple location's, and despite the challenge, Brendan was on it! He managed to capture amazing photos of the wedding and the reception! One thing that really stood out to me was Brendan’s kindness when he was speaking with us and our families. Our families are the most important people in our lives so seeing Brendan treat them with such respect and understanding made our wedding experience that much better!! I am so so so happy with the photos he took!! They are absolutely gorgeous! I have noticed over the years that a lot of professional photographers will over-edit pictures or darken shadows too much! We DID NOT run into that problem with our pictures! They are vibrant, beautiful, and he did an excellent job of enhancing my family members natural beauty!!! I could not be more pleased and I could not recommend Brendan enough!! My family said all the same things to me about him and their experience! Some of my siblings told me they will be booking him for future events:) Brendan made our whole wedding last a lifetime and I am beyond thankful for that blessing. From the bottom of my heart, thank you Brendan.

Cesario Mendez Photography
Rating: 5.0 (27 reviews)
Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style

When I am not behind the camera or editing photos, I enjoy short Uber rides to bottomless brunch on the weekends; right now mimosas and I kinda have a thing going on! I have a special relationship with bourbon and FIRMLY believe in putting food on the grill during late afternoons should be the norm. I am blessed to be married to the happiest person on earth (I am so serious), who just happens to double as my favorite person. She keeps me grounded and never fails to remind me how great she is.

Awarded Best of Zola
It was great to work with Cesar. From the moment we had our introductory call with him, we were drawn in by his authenticity, humor and laid back energy. We knew he was a good fit for a day that we wanted to keep positive, low-stress, and focused. When it came time for him to give instructions for couple and family shoots, he was confident and cool. In fact, many of our guests went out of their way to share how impressed they were with Cesar. He did a great job capturing our daytime wedding despite the quick change from cloudy and rainy to a bright springtime sun. He struck the perfect balance of positioning himself well to get great shots without being conspicuous or obtrusive. I plan to hire Cesar for other events in the future and recommend that my friends do the same.

Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style

Hi there! I’m Sharon! I am a long-time professional photographer, a former award-winning photojournalist, and an official photographer for the Canadian Embassy. I love photographing weddings and I provide beautiful, bold, and romantic images for my couples to treasure forever.

Awarded Best of Zola
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Sharon! From our very first meeting, she demonstrated an incredible attention to detail and thoroughness that put my anxious bride-heart at ease. Together, we created a detailed shot list with us beforehand, scouted our venue for the best photo opportunities, and somehow managed to capture every meaningful moment of our special. Her mastery of natural lighting was absolutely magical. The venue had challenging lighting, but Sharon brought everything we needed to capture all skin tones! Even at the reception, she knew exactly how to work with the existing light to create warm, flattering portraits that made everyone look their absolute best. What truly sets her apart is her tenacity to get "the shot." The final gallery exceeded our wildest expectations - a perfect blend of posed portraits, candid emotional moments, and artistic detail shots that tell the complete story of our wedding day. And here's the sweetest bonus - she made us cookies! She showed up to our final gallery reveal with chocolate chip cookies and gifted us with several photos done on metal. Talk about going above and beyond!

Fourth Photography, LLC
Rating: 5.0 (11 reviews)
Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $1,300

Great photography doesn't require you to perform. It requires you to be present. My job is to handle everything else so that when the moments happen, they're honest, and the images reflect exactly how the day felt. Your wedding day moves quickly. I stay calm so you don't have to — present enough to catch every quiet glance and joyful tear, discreet enough that you never feel watched.

Awarded Best of Zola
The Fourth Photo Team was truly the best part of our wedding day. They were patient, caring, attentive and passionate. Our wedding day was pretty chaotic but they made us feel at peace. I couldn’t recommend this team more. They were truly phenomenal. We got our wedding photos back SO fast and they were truly absolutely stunning. If you’re debating between photographers THIS is the team you want for your event. They were very professional but SO personal and made us laugh a lot. We will definitely book again in the future.

Chris Ferenzi Photography
Rating: 5.0 (11 reviews)
Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $3,600

Hey, I'm Chris! Dog-lover, latte-lover, gym-lover, and cookie-lover I justify the cookies by going to the gym. One of my life goals is to have enough dogs (dachshunds and corgis) to create a sled team. I will use this sled team to pull myself around while shooting your wedding. I’m joking, unless you really want me to, in which maybe WE should get married.

He took so many incredible photos of us, helped with loads of ideas for poses, and gave us a huge variety to choose from. It was natural, easy, stress-free, and we look awesome. Our wedding photos are iconic! And he is a first rate coordinator, making communication and scheduling so easy.

Meiying is a visual storyteller based in Washington, D.C. With almost a decade of camera experiences, her visual work is published by The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, CNN's Great Big Story and POLITICO.

Meiying was a pleasure to work with--patient, responsive, and utterly professional. As a news photographer/videographer, she has a keen visual eye and is experienced at shooting in many different venues and circumstances (unlike some wedding photographers whose abilities are limited to more posed studio work only). She can also move quickly and roll spontaneously with whatever happens. Plus she's an exceedingly nice person, and worked with us to meet our budget. Just a few days after our wedding, she provided us with a terrific selection of fine digital photos that we will treasure for decades!

Washington DC Wedding Photographer & Photo Booth Rentals. Hello! My name is Jon. I am a Washington DC Wedding Photographer and available for weddings worldwide. I love my job. There is something so exciting about capturing your day the way I see it through my eyes. My valued clients give off energy that keeps me going which motivates me to push my boundaries to create the stunning, crisp, and vibrant images you see.

Awarded Best of Zola
I had a great experience with Jon and would highly recommend his services to others that are looking to hire a photographer for a surprise proposal. I contacted Jon through his website less than three weeks before I was planning to propose. I received a response within a few hours, had a call with him to work out the details within a few days. Jon had great suggestions for my proposal plan and was able to provide example images of other proposals he had captured at various locations. The examples he provided were very helpful in my planning and gave me assurance as to what the final product would look like. Jon contacted me the week of the proposal to confirm final details and was responsive via text the day of. He was prompt and was at the location at the planned time. Initially was hidden in the background allowing the proposal to still feel intimate and private. He captured great pictures of the proposal, and you would have no idea other people were in the area by looking at the final pictures. Jon exceeded expectations in capturing photos after the proposal. He provided clear instructions and the photos turned out great. The photos were made available to us online within hours which made it easy to share with family and friends. Overall, Jon was responsive, easy to work with, and captured high quality photos of a very special moment.

Natasha Lamalle Photography
Rating: 5.0 (5 reviews)
Washington, DC
  • Photojournalistic style

The best way to tell honest stories is through keen observation. How do I know? Because I spent 15 years as a journalist before becoming a wedding photographer. By paying attention to the ways you interact with your loved ones, I capture the in-between moments that will, one day, be significant. And using a trained eye and subtle approach, I do so unobtrusively.

Awarded Best of Zola
Natasha was the first vendor we hired after choosing our venue. She is astonishing. She seamlessly blends into the crowd to take photos that capture the essence of your wedding and always manages to find the perfect picture that will make you cry, laugh, and then cry again. She has a remarkable eye. If you want to get away from stilted formal shots and remember and celebrate the actual day of your wedding, work with Natasha. She makes the entire wedding process a joy, from the initial meeting with her to the date night she set up for you to view your photos. She also does "slice of life" engagement shoots which can be a fun and casual date night that she captures with her incredible camera. Everyone has been blown away by the quality of the pictures. There is a reason that she is a top world wedding photographer. I trust Natasha completely. If you are not interested in classic boring posed photos, you can do no better than to hire Natasha Lamalle immediately. She is a true artist with a camera. You will fall in love over and over again through her photos.

The biggest failure at the end of our lives would be trading our intimacy for our fears in light of playing it safe. This season of your lives may make you feel unwelcome and even excluded as dive into your wedding research. Listen to this: No matter where you’re from, who you pray to, what you weigh, who you voted for or who you love; who you are and who you’re becoming as individuals and as a whole are what matter to us most. We're a team of people loving, color-addicted, and moment-captured wedding photographers based in DC with over 300 weddings of experience. We've shot stories in over 20 countries and 30 states.

Adam is incredible all around and we were so grateful to have him for our wedding! As a same-sex couple that does not particularly enjoy being photographed, we were most worried about our photographer. Adam's superpower is making you feel relaxed and natural - he knew how to pose us without trying to make us do heteronormative poses, he knew how to keep us laughing and comfortable, our entire wedding party loved him, and the end result was magical pictures. Adam is great at getting to know what specifically is important to you in your pictures and he has no problem running interference with family if necessary on wedding day - both of our families can be a bit chaotic and he did great at keeping 'family photo time' efficient. We had previously done engagement photos with him and it genuinely felt like 'oh there's our friend Adam running around taking pictures' on wedding day. We did not book a second shooter but felt that he was able to capture everything that we wanted.

"You just have to live, and life will give you pictures." The first time I saw the work of Henri Cartier-Bresson, I knew photography was my calling. His philosophy shapes the way I approach weddings—I want you to be fully present, soaking in every moment of your day. When you're enjoying yourselves, celebrating your love, and having the best day of your lives, the most beautiful and authentic photographs naturally follow.

If you’re looking for a wedding photographer in the DC area, stop and boom James immediately! We really liked James from the first time we saw his portfolio online, and felt very confident after our first call with him that we had found the photographer we wanted to work with. He was really thoughtful in sending us sample galleries from weddings he had done that were in similar venues to ours. We could not have made a better choice! He was good at communicating and working out details prior to the wedding, even scouting out potential locations in case of rain in the forecast. On the day itself he was fantastic and provided just the right amount of direction to get good shots while putting everyone at ease. He also captured all the special candid moments and I still don’t know how he managed to get so many different angles and shots during the ceremony. We also absolutely loved the video slideshow he did with our speeches and the photos. We’ll always treasure the stunning photos we have from our wedding and couldn’t recommend James more highly!

We couldn't be happier with how the photos turned out - they were shot and edited so beautifully, and going through the gallery really feels like reliving all of the best moments of the day. I would jump at the chance to work with them again, couldn't recommend them more highly!

My passion for photography grew when my daughter, Lotus, was born in 2004 and I began documenting her childhood with an eye toward catching each irreplaceable moment. Soon, friends and then friends of friends asked me to photograph their children and families. Before long, I was documenting the lives and milestones of people all over the DMV area. I realized how happy I was connecting with people and capturing special moments, and so I launched Lotus Photography in 2012 - named for my first muse. I captured my first wedding in 2016 and I was instantly in love with being a wedding photographer!

We cannot say enough good things about Georgette! We had a January wedding with about 50 guests, and she was absolutely incredible from start to finish. Our portrait time was tight (our fault), and Georgette helped us game plan ahead of time so we could make the absolute most of it. She rolled effortlessly with last-minute changes to people and the order of photos, and somehow managed to squish in everyone we hoped to include without making it feel rushed or stressful. The photos themselves are stunning. She captured every bit of emotion — the big happy moments, the quiet sentimental ones, and even the teary-eyed exchanges. Looking through our gallery truly feels like reliving the day. Beyond her talent behind the camera, her wedding experience really showed. From knowing how to properly carry a giant dress and veil, to keeping things moving smoothly, she went above and beyond in so many small but meaningful ways. If you’re considering booking Georgette — do it. We are so grateful for her and will treasure these photos forever.
