Our journey into the wedding industry began when we started looking at venues for our daughter’s wedding. We found high costs and many restrictions at most venues. Having a background in customer service, we were inspired to create a unique wedding venue in Fort Worth with a reasonable price tag and very few restrictions. In seven years, we’ve made numerous improvements and additions to our venue. We have now hosted 500 + weddings. Guests will often come up to us and tell us that it was the most interesting and fun wedding that they have ever attended. This makes our job very rewarding. We enjoy our work and will always do our best to make sure the day is special for each and every one that visits our beautiful venue.

Several years ago we had purchased some property with a run-down old barn on it. As we restored the old barn we had several people ask if they could rent it for their upcoming wedding. The barn had no bathrooms, no parking, and a dirt floor - so we graciously declined but the seed had been planted. Summers Mill Retreat and Conference center has been built on a rich history. When it was founded in 1998 by Paul and Jane Meyer, they wanted "this place to be a ministry and to lead with a servant’s heart based on Christian values and principles." The name of our retreat center goes back to the grist mill built by John Myers in the spring of 1866. Business was good and within a year, he added a saw mill and a cotton gin. When John Myers died, it passed in rapid succession through the hands of Robert A. Myers, Douglas McKenzie, and D.C. Summers. Summers installed a crossroads store and secured a post office under the name of Summers Mill.
