“Spencer (Samson) was the absolute BEST!! He really kept our reception moving and people out on the dance floor. He even got out there himself to keep the energy high. Our Photo Booth attendant was great as well. He made sure people were having fun and we got some really great pictures. From the moment we met Spencer almost an entire year before our wedding we never hesitated he was the right choice. Stylus was perfect and so accommodating when we did things like move our last dance down to the dock (which then ended up having to be on the back patio) and setting up quickly for our sparkler exit and had the perfect songs playing along the way. Our wedding wouldn’t have been as amazing without this team!”

“Joey’s DJ Service was an excellent choice for our Durham, NC wedding! Joey was so kind and friendly from the jump, and we liked and trusted him starting from our consultation call at the beginning of planning our event. Even at that early stage, Joey was already advocating for us to have the wedding we wanted, sharing tips on how to structure the day so we were able to set aside time for private moments of introvert connection during a very social, family-focused event. We ended up booking him to provide music for our entire wedding day, from pre-ceremony music (played while guests were arriving and taking their seats) through the ceremony (including microphones for the officiant and groom) through cocktail hour, dinner, special dances and toasts, and the dance party portion of the reception. Joey’s attention to detail, including making sure he knew which specific versions of the songs we requested we wanted to play, and which music lined up with specific points in the schedule of events, was unmatched. Joey’s client portal made it easy to share our music choices for all these different parts of our big day. He paid close attention to our playlists/requests for the dance party while also mixing in some of his own selections, reading the room and ensuring everyone had something to dance to; this was especially impressive given that our guests ranged in age from infants to octogenarians! He was also sensitive to the nuances of a big family gathering: My dad and I don’t have a close relationship, so my mom and I did a mother-daughter dance in place of the traditional father-daughter one. When my dad put in a song request later in the evening, telling Joey he intended to ask me to dance with him to that song, Joey pulled me aside to make sure it was okay first before honoring the request. My new husband and I loved working with Joey’s DJ Service for our wedding, and we would wholeheartedly recommend this seasoned professional to anyone planning a special event.”

However, even after going through the work of submitting a Spotify play list and adding do not play songs or DJ played the wrong version of our first dance song (I checked and we had the correct version listed on our playlist we sent over), he also played songs from our do not play list to the point I, the bride, came over to ask if he had the wrong list. He admitted he was using songs from the do not play list as he was not paying attention. I would also like to note, though our wedding was more casual, our DJ was dressed in a sloppy manner. His shirt was half untucked from his pants, there were stains on his shirt and pants. Besides a few hiccups, direct Entertainment was wonderful to work with!”
