Beneath the Spruce
Rating: 5.0 (2 reviews)
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $2,600
  • Serves Deadwood, SD

I’m a Rapid City and Black Hills wedding photographer with 10 years of experience creating natural, heartfelt images for couples who want their day documented with honesty and ease. I’m drawn to soft light, real connection, and the quiet in-between moments that make your story yours. Whether you’re celebrating in the pines, the prairies, or downtown, my goal is to preserve your day in a way that feels genuine and timeless.

Charity at Beneath the Spruce was a dream to work with. Her communication style was timely, upbeat and responsive, and the quality of her work was excellent - high quality, with great attention to detail, bright and knowledgeable. She helped us with a plethora of poses and made sure everyone got the photos they needed in an organized manner. Beyond capturing the posed shots, she also documented timeless candid moments between my husband and I that we will cherish for a lifetime. Her work speaks for itself, but it's also her professionalism and attention to detail that make her stand out above everyone else.

I am a wedding and elopement photographer based in South Dakota. I am a bit of a nomad at heart and travel a lot for both fun and my business. My goal is to craft timeless moments through intentional imagery. My style is a blend between documentary and editorial, curated to your day.

Katie Ashe made it easy to communicate prior to the wedding and on our wedding day! Katie's work was above and beyond my dreams for our pictures. I shared poses I wanted to incorporate on our wedding day and Katie made sure every one of them was done. Plus the pictures turned out stunning! If you hire Katie Ashe as your photographer you will be making a great decision!

Awarded Best of Zola
I feel so lucky to have found these amazing people! Heather and her incredible team feel like family to us, even though we only met a few months ago. They really care about their clients and want them to have the best photos possible. During the wedding, Heather would always make sure I was comfortable by giving me flattering poses and pointing her portable fan at me when I was too hot from dancing at the reception, ha! She stayed in communication with me, the other vendors, and her own team flawlessly, so I didn't have to worry about a thing. Not only was everything organized and efficient, but it was also fun! Our whole wedding party had a great time making jokes and messing around with the photographers, and seeing them have fun made the whole vibe a lot better. They hyped us up in every pose and made the day nothing but positive. I would highly recommend Heather and her team to anyone who wants a photographer who cares about them! I felt like a million bucks on my wedding day, and I have to say it is mainly because of these incredible photographers. Finally, the results speak for themselves! The pictures we received literally look like they're out of a movie. Their talent is unmatched and should be talked about more. The feelings and emotions of our special day were captured in such a natural and beautiful way. I am so grateful to have these pictures for life, and I can't wait to show my kids one day. I will never be able to forget what it felt like, thanks to these incredible people with unreal talent. I also cannot believe how easy it was to book her and for such a reasonable price! Booking Heather and her team was truly the best decision we could have made. I recommend them to anyone from all walks of life. You will be welcomed and taken care of like a friend or even family!

Mae Krell Photo
Rating: 5.0 (14 reviews)
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $10,000
  • Serves Deadwood, SD

Hi! My name is Mae, and I live in Brooklyn with my girlfriend, our two dogs Apollo and Bia, her cat Gigi and my lizard, Basil! I’ve always been passionate about capturing moments as authentically and magically as possible, and as i’ve settled more into this career path, I love that i’ve landed in a place where I have the privilege to capture and preserve people’s love stories. Weddings and elopements are so distinctly and uniquely human, and it’s truly the biggest honor to be trusted to document them.

Awarded Best of Zola
I came across Mae’s work when looking for a photographer for engagement photos in Central Park, and I was immediately impressed with Mae and knew we were going to be incredibly happy with the results. Mae responded immediately to all my questions, day or night, and took the time to video chat with me at length twice before the shoot to discuss what we were looking for in our photos. Before the shoot, I had sent her a few examples of what I liked, and not only did the photos come out exactly how I wanted them, but were even more perfect than I envisioned. The engagement shoot itself was so much fun, and Mae made us feel so comfortable throughout the entire process, despite us thinking we’d both feel awkward getting posed photos of us taken. Mae truly had a vision for what poses, locations, and lighting would work, and the execution was perfect. Some of the feedback we got from our friends was that the photos looked like a magazine, and that they were “ethereal.” Even better, Mae somehow got us the edited photos back within 24 hours of the shoot. Her pricing is also incredibly reasonable given the quality of her work, meticulousness, and experience in photography, as well as the very quick turnaround time. My fiance and I truly cannot recommend her enough, and we are excited to work with her again in the future. She is truly an artist, and any couple would be incredibly lucky to work with her!

He was incredibly intentional and truly listened to the shots and edits we wanted, which made the final video feel so personal and meaningful. Especially since our wedding was at different locations in San Francisco, Presidio, and our local church, I loved how our package cohesively looked natural, fresh and beautiful. Eric Turner Photography
Rating: 5.0 (10 reviews)
  • Photojournalistic style
  • Starts at $2,500
  • Serves Deadwood, SD

Hey there! I'm Eric, an outdoor-loving, laid-back wedding photographer based in the Midwest who lives for capturing those real, unfiltered moments that make each love story unique. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll probably find me hiking trails or discovering new local breweries. My approach blends documentary-style storytelling with a touch of editorial flair—meaning I'll capture both those candid laughs during toasts and those naturally romantic moments during golden hour. The best photos happen when couples feel completely at ease and free to be themselves.

Awarded Best of Zola
Having Eric as a photographer is like hanging out with an old friend. He put this camera-shy couple at ease immediately, made us laugh, and always had great suggestions for posing to help get the best results possible. He came prepared with ideas for shots and scenes, and his videography was so unobtrusive we almost didn’t remember it was happening! He is quick to respond to questions, has an amazing eye for color and composition, and is generally just a really positive presence on a day that can otherwise be pretty stressful. Don’t sleep on Eric — you’ll be so glad you hired him!

Booking Kailey for our wedding was a decision I’d make 100x over. From start to finish, she was everything we could’ve hoped for and more. Her ability to capture the essence of our day so beautifully still has us speechless every time we look at our photos. Kailey was incredibly professional yet fun to be around; she struck the perfect balance of keeping things on track while making us laugh and feel completely at ease. When anything took longer than we planned, she was able to get us back on track while managing to capture all of the moments we wanted. Roman Photography

I spent 10 years as a photojournalist covering news, sports, and political campaigns, and for the past 25 years I’ve photographed weddings with the same calm, observant approach. That experience taught me how to anticipate moments, work quickly in changing light, and capture genuine emotion without getting in the way. I focus on the natural moments as they unfold, keep portraits relaxed with gentle direction, and make family photos organized and efficient so they do not take you away from your wedding for long.

My wife and I used Roman Photography's services for our wedding in 2015 - we absolutely adore the the photos. Our fun and family were captured beautifully. We loved the work so much, we contacted Roman again ten years later to do our anniversary photos. Roman came out and did another magnificent job. He kept things playful and light (we're both uncomfortable in front of the camera) but still professional. I can't recommend Roman Photography enough!

Your wedding is not a performance. It's the way you look at each other when no one's watching. Your hand finding theirs without thinking. My couples care more about what’s real than what looks good on a grid. They want gorgeous photos but also want them to mean something. The couples I work with have depth. Their stories have weight. They want someone behind the lens who sees them. Not just how they look, but who they are. Presence over performance. That's the closest I can get to naming it.

Awarded Best of Zola
Danielle Robidoux Photography was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding. She was very communicative throughout the entire process and helped me create a perfect wedding album that truly came to life with my ideas. The quality of her work was exceptional - she gave us a sneak peek of our photos immediately after the wedding, and worked incredibly fast to capture every moment. Danielle also helped us plan the perfect Boston experience for our wedding day, ensuring everything ran smoothly from start to finish. We are thrilled with the final photos and would highly recommend Danielle Robidoux Photography to any couple looking for a talented, dedicated, and responsive wedding photographer.

When i'm not photographing something you can find me exploring nature, hanging out at a concert or re-watching The Office (for the 100th time). I'm a lover of travel, animals, adventure, art, good food and making great memories. I've loved photography for as long as I can remember + I'm certain that capturing other people's stories + love is my passion and my calling.

Susanna Grant was a joy to work with for our wedding day. She was so friendly, and put us completely at ease throughout the entire process. On the wedding day itself, she captured all of the important moments beautifully. We highly recommend Susanna!

Photography truly has a full grip on my soul– I love EVERYTHING about capturing special moments to be forever held in time! I consider my style to be way more candid, as I truly adore capturing an authentic experience that is almost tangible to the person viewing the photo. I want the viewer to feel the emotion and as if they were there with us right back in that moment. I love realness of a perfect candid shot…my goal—especially with couples—is to get to the heart of their connection and connect with my couples, as well, to truly make them feel comfortable in front of the lens so that we can get to those authentic magic shots!

We had the pleasure of working with MoonTide Media for our wedding photography/videography. Shannon and Ally were an absolute joy to work with from start to finish. Their communication throughout the planning process was fantastic - they consistently kept us updated on travel plans and made sure we were all on the same page regarding the photography timeline. Most importantly, the quality of their work is stunning. We recently received a preview of some of our photos and were brought to tears by the beautiful images capturing our special day. Shannon and Ally have a true talent for capturing emotional moments without ever getting in the way. They were the hardest working team at our venue, going above and beyond to get every possible shot we could have imagined. We felt so comfortable with them that they even grabbed some extra candids of our wedding party that we had asked for with no issues. If you're looking for amazing photographers/videographers who produce breathtaking images while also making you feel at ease and comfortable on your wedding day, look no further than MoonTide Media.

I'm Abby! and I’m hopelessly obsessed with love. There’s nothing like watching a couple look into each other’s eyes and realize they just got married. Being able to capture that moment- and then deliver it to the couple to keep forever- it’s truly the best. I’m here to capture so much more than just memories. I’m here to capture feeling. . The sweet glances that make your fingertips tingle. The look that makes your heart thump in your chest. The loopy butterflies in your stomach as you’re about to walk down the aisle. Those feelings. The photos I produce allow you to hold those feelings in your hand, and keep them safe for eternity.

Abby is an INCREDIBLE person to work with! She made our wedding day go so smoothly! She helped me figure out my timeline, was always there to capture the little moments, and was overall a joy to work with! And I cannot TELL you how much we LOVE our photos! From the engagement shoot to the wedding day, Abby brought a level of calm and ease that helped ground everyone around her and made the entire experience one I’ll never forget! We can’t thank you enough Abby!
