The Prospect Park Boathouse was our absolute dream venue and the perfect setting for our big day! We had been torn between having a wedding more in nature or more in the city, and the Boathouse was the perfect blend between the two. Although the food wasn't our top priority, it ended up being a highlight of the day (especially the bacon wrapped dates). Throughout planning, Elena was very communicative and quick to respond to any email or question we had. Many of our guests commented on how elegant and classic New York the Boathouse was as a venue, and that's exactly what made us fall in love with it in the first place. We're also very excited that they recently opened a cafe out of the Boathouse during the day as well so that we can go back and relive our special day over and over again. A big thank you to Elena and the rest of the Purslane team for making our special day absolutely perfect!

About wedding venues in Brooklyn, NY

Why Is Brooklyn the Perfect Wedding Destination?

Brooklyn gives couples those authentic industrial-chic spaces you just can't find elsewhere, with preserved timber beams and brick walls that tell the story of the borough's manufacturing past. You'll fall in love with waterfront venues like Liberty Warehouse where you can exchange vows with unobstructed views of Lady Liberty and the harbor. If you're dreaming of skyline views, Brooklyn's rooftop venues deliver 360-degree Manhattan panoramas that will leave your guests speechless. Each neighborhood brings its own character; from historic Brooklyn Heights to artistic Williamsburg; creating wedding backdrops impossible to duplicate in Manhattan. Plus your dollar stretches further here, typically giving you more space than you'd get across the East River.

What Are the Different Types of Wedding Venues in Brooklyn?

Brooklyn's venue options showcase its rich architectural heritage in ways that will make your celebration truly unique. Industrial spaces like The Green Building let you celebrate among original timber beams and factory windows for that perfect blend of history and style. If water views matter to you, Liberty Warehouse features floor-to-ceiling windows that frame the harbor and Statue of Liberty as your wedding backdrop. Looking for something elevated? The William Vale's 20th-floor space offers fully-accessible luxury with views that will take your breath away. Nature lovers can surround themselves with seasonal blooms at Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Palm House glasshouse while history buffs will appreciate Weylin's restored 1875 Gilded Age details in the former Williamsburgh Savings Bank.

How Much Does a Brooklyn Wedding Cost?

Brooklyn weddings typically run significantly higher than the national average of $6,500-$12,000. Your guest count will dramatically impact what you'll spend on your big day:

Guest CountEstimated Total Cost
50 guests$40,319
100 guests$68,404
150 guests$94,787
200 guests$118,336
250 guests$141,884
300 guests$165,433

Just for the venue alone you're looking at an average of $20,886 in Brooklyn which represents about 22% of your total wedding budget if you're hosting 150 guests. This gives you a realistic starting point when planning your Brooklyn wedding finances.

Which Brooklyn Neighborhoods Have the Best Wedding Venues?

Williamsburg offers you converted industrial spaces like MyMoon Restaurant where you can celebrate in a transformed 19th-century boiler room featuring sophisticated dining spaces with reclaimed wooden details that photographers love. DUMBO gives you those iconic cobblestone streets leading to venues with Manhattan Bridge backdrops perfect for unforgettable wedding photos. If you're planning a smaller gathering Greenpoint's Threes at Franklin and Kent provides an accessible option with intimate charm. Brooklyn Heights surrounds you with elegant venues in historic settings while Red Hook's Liberty Warehouse preserves authentic port architecture with full accessibility and those waterfront views you've been dreaming about.

What Should I Consider When Choosing a Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

When selecting your Brooklyn venue always verify the capacity limits match your guest count; this is particularly important at industrial venues with strict fire codes that won't budge no matter how much you want to squeeze in a few extra cousins. Planning to marry in September? You're not alone as it ranks as Brooklyn's most popular wedding month requiring 13-month advance bookings (417 days) for peak dates. Transportation planning becomes crucial since many Brooklyn venues have limited parking options for your guests. While many venues permit outside catering they may impose fees if you want to bring in your own alcohol so factor those potential costs into your budget.

Which Brooklyn Venues Offer Special Features?

The William Vale in Williamsburg gives you fully-accessible modern event spaces with sweeping views and personalized menus tailored to your taste. Food lovers can enjoy Michelin-starred cuisine at The River Café through four-course tasting menus served in a glass-enclosed pavilion surrounded by water views. If tech matters to your celebration 74Wythe features advanced audiovisual capabilities that support creative remote guest participation beyond basic streaming; perfect for including loved ones who can't attend in person. At Wythe Hotel you'll enjoy French-inspired cuisine from their in-house restaurant Le Crocodile bringing elevated dining to your wedding day.

When Should I Book My Brooklyn Wedding Venue?

You'll typically need to book your Brooklyn venue about 13 months before your wedding date to secure your first choice. September generates the most inquiries with prime dates often secured well over a year in advance. If you're flexible with your date winter weddings between January and March might reward you with lower venue rates and greater date availability with shorter booking windows. This seasonal flexibility could save you thousands while still giving you the Brooklyn wedding of your dreams. Just remember that popular venues book quickly regardless of season so start your venue search as early as possible.
