We recently held our wedding reception at Terraview and I honestly can’t say enough good things about the entire experience. From the very start, the Stroudsmoor team made us feel like we were in expert hands — they were professional, attentive, and genuinely invested in making our big day perfect. The space itself is absolutely stunning. Whether it was the beautiful décor, the lighting, or the thoughtful setup, everything came together seamlessly to create an atmosphere that was both elegant and welcoming. So many of our guests commented on how gorgeous the venue was! But what really stood out was the team behind the scenes. Linda Forte and the entire staff were incredible. They anticipated our needs, handled every little detail with care, and went above and beyond to make sure we didn’t have to worry about a thing. We eloped at this incredible venue, and we can't say enough about how wonderful our experience was. As a queer couple, it's been a little uncertain with the changing climate around queer rights, I found out through Zola that Olio was doing free services for queer couples. This venue went above and beyond to make sure our day was nothing short of perfect. They were not only accommodating but genuinely supportive and flexible with every request we had. From helping us with the lighting and guiding us on where to get the chairs, to allowing us to take photos inside before the ceremony because of the freezing weather, their kindness and attention to detail made us feel truly special. They even took behind-the-scenes photos and shared them with us, capturing moments we’ll treasure forever. A special shoutout to Sarah, who was always amazing with communication. She answered all our questions so quickly and with such warmth, which made everything so much easier and stress-free. The team made our elopement feel like an intimate celebration, and we couldn't be more grateful for their help in making our day so beautiful. We were absolutely thrilled with our experience at Walden Chicago. From the moment we toured the venue with Maria, we knew it was the perfect place for our November 2024 wedding. A huge added perk that we quickly learned was going to make a huge difference in our wedding planning experience was the included in-house planning team. Kalila and Alyssa supported us from beginning to end. Throughout the planning process both Kalila and Alyssa were attentive and responsive. Whether they were recommending vendors, answering one of many questions, helping us sort through rehearsal dinner options, or navigating final meetings and details they were with us through every step of the way. The online planning tool you gain access to through Walden helps you stay organized and makes sure you don’t forget any detail (big or small). When we had a slight mishap with our cake the day of the wedding they had already reached out to the bakery on our behalf before the wedding was over and a partial refund for the cake was secured by the next morning. Our wedding day ran smoothly thanks to Kalila and Alyssa. I felt as though I did not have to worry about a thing. The planning team handled all communication with vendors and kept us on schedule which allowed for us both to be very present on our big day. I have to highlight the spacious bridal suite as it was the perfect place to start the day. With 9 bridesmaids, a mother of the bride and a mother of the groom you naturally worry about any space feeling cramped but the separate getting ready stations and lounge area allowed everyone to be relaxed and comfortable the morning of the wedding and throughout the wedding day. This was also the perfect space to be tucked away post ceremony to enjoy our first moments together as newlyweds. Walden had our signature drinks and the appetizers waiting for us to enjoy a quiet moment alone before heading down to join our cocktail hour. The rooftop at golden hour made for some breathtaking photos, the ceremony space lit with candles crated the perfect ambiance for our Friday evening ceremony, and the cocktail and reception spaces decorated to fit our vision made for the most memorable day. After the tasting party a few months prior to the wedding, we knew the food and drinks were going to be a stand out part of the evening. Because we were given multiple options for appetizers, salads, mains and drinks, we were really able to personalize the menus to our taste. Guests raved about our food and drinks. We were told by nearly every guest that it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. Walden seamlessly accommodated various guests food restrictions and allergies as well. As we look back on our wedding day, all we can do is smile. The combination of the beautiful spaces, top-notch planning, and incredible food and drinks made our special day even more memorable. We highly recommend Walden to any couple looking to make their Chicago wedding dreams come true.

Green Acres Event center was absolutely gorgeous! It caught our eyes online and we immediately wanted to see it in person! We went and toured, were greeted by friendly staff and showed around the property! From the beauty of the barn on the outside the the gorgeous detailing and sparkle from the chandeliers on the inside all the way to the stunning bridal suite, we knew when we walked through the doors this was our wedding venue! Robyn was absolutely amazing to work with from any questions I had while planning all the way through the day of. She made the day seem seamless and even helped me stay calm in the chaos! I would choose this venue over and over again! Our guests loved it and had wonderful time! The only complaint we heard is that they wished there was a bathroom on the second floor where the dinner and dancing was but other than that we had no complaints! Everyone should consider using this venue!

My husband and I got married here in June and loved everything about it! The venue itself is perfect for smaller-medium size weddings and very affordable compared to other places we looked it. Also, most of our guest were coming in from out of town, so it was important to us to have a fun area with lots of restaurants and accessibility without a car. This location couldn't have been better. Gabby was so helpful with answering any questions and assisting us through our wedding planning. She even helped navigate the rehearsal since our coordinator couldn't be there. Overall, we can't recommend Watson Block enough for its price, aesthetic, and service!

Spring Hall is the perfect venue to have your wedding or corporate event. The owner and the staff are very professional and friendly. The venue inside is just beautiful. Highly recommend 100 %. The Gallagher is even more beautiful in person. Jenna and her team were so extremely helpful. We had a wonderful experience working with Brus and the full Spruce Mountain team. They think of everything when it comes to logistics, and we didn't have to worry about a thing from the moment we showed up on wedding day until the end of the night. Our experience touring the venue a year and a half ago, coming back for the Wine & Nosh event, and doing our 30 day walk through all made the planning process so smooth and exciting for us and our families. The multiple ceremony locations are all gorgeous, and we were thrilled to be able to get married mountainside with the natural beauty of Colorado in the background. Our guests loved cocktail hour and the indoor/outdoor dinner & dancing set up. Spruce is truly a 5 star wedding venue because of its natural beauty and the organization/care the team takes in scoping out all the details, like 2 beautiful getting ready suites for the bridesmaids & groomsmen, shuttles to take guests up mountainside, and open air string lights for late night dancing. Spruce is also a popular spot that many of our vendors were familiar with, which made logistics even smoother since our bartenders, caterer, DJ, planner, and florist had all done multiple weddings at Spruce before and had great recommendations on what could work well with our vision. We hope to come back for future events and are so happy to have gotten married at Spruce!

We love Farm Bakery & Events! This venue is family owned and operated, which you can feel through every step! They are so kind and helpful through the entire day! There are so many beautiful spots on the property to capture photos! There's a huge open field, which is stunning! The property is lined with beautiful trees that change color depending on the season and ends with a section of land that showcases the sunset perfectly! There's even a section with flowers! The venue hosts just one wedding a day, so all the attention and resources are devoted to the couple—a huge plus for creating a seamless experience. From the beginning, Erika and Jeremy were so laid-back and excited to enjoy their day. The preparation spaces were perfect—the girls had a beautiful rustic farmhouse, while the guys had a spacious house just down the gravel road, complete with a golf green for a little fun before the festivities. We love incorporating multiple, and Crossed Keys Estate offered the perfect backdrop for each one. From the emotional bridesmaids' reveal to the heartwarming first look between Erika and her dad (we could feel the intensity of the moment from the sidelines), and finally, the groom's first look on the picturesque grounds—it was magical. The estate’s swing under the giant tree and the intimate reflection pond were standout spots for capturing stunning couple photos, tucked away from the crowd. The reception space was equally amazing. The modern hall, with floor-to-ceiling windows, allowed gorgeous natural light to flood the room, making for a perfect backdrop for the celebration and the sweetheart table. Working with Katrina, the Senior Venue Coordinator, was a breeze. Every request the couple had was thoroughly listened to, and the venue made sure the day flowed effortlessly for everyone involved. Everything was timed perfectly, the florals (created by the venue!) were stunning, and the food was exquisite. Every detail was executed flawlessly, ensuring the couple and their guests could enjoy the day without a single hiccup. Now that we’ve experienced Crossed Keys Estate firsthand, we can’t wait to return! Our creativity was sparked by the newness of the venue, but we’re also excited to bring that knowledge back for future weddings. Erika and Jeremy’s wedding was a perfect day, and we look forward to more love stories at this beautiful estate.

We were looking for a place that would allow us to bring in our own food, as we wanted to have a special cereal bar and waffle bar where guests could create their own custom treats. The Grange gave us that flexibility, and we were able to have the most amazing wedding reception with personal touches throughout the event. The staff was amazing to work with and provided us with little things we didn't even think about, making our day run seamlessly. We even accidentally stole their sign but were able to make arrangements to get it back to them before their next event - even then, they were super kind and responsive. As soon as we arrived, we were so glad that we had chosen Milton Ridge and knew that we had made the right choice. All of the staff were very welcoming and helpful. They were with us through every step of our wedding day with lots of support and smiles. The cottage for getting ready is very cute, the chapel is beautiful, and the reception hall is great as well. They have many services included in their various wedding packages like catering, DJ, photographer, and cake. They also have outside vendors that they work with frequently, such as hair and make-up and a florist, who are all wonderful. They are inclusive, and they are supportive of LGBT weddings. My now wife and I are part of the LGBT community, and we were treated very well by the entire team. We were able to have our wedding exactly how we wanted, and they worked with us on every detail. On the day, they had the entire day scheduled and kept us on track, which is actually so necessary and helpful on a day when you're trying to do so many things. We had a wonderful wedding at The Garrison in August in 2024- from the minute we saw this breathtaking venue, we knew it was a special place where we could see ourselves spending one of the most important days of our life. I immediately got in touch with Bridget, who from day one was super accessible, transparent, kind and willing to work with us. Bridget walked us through the entire planning process, from a tasting where we were made to feel super special by the wonderful Fatima (who ended up being our day of attendant and was AWESOME) to every last detail of our special day. The venue itself is gorgeous, the sunset over the mountains, the floor to ceiling windows, the beautifully maintained grounds - our guests were in AWE. The staff was wonderful, they made sure to treat our wedding party extra special and gave great service to our guests. My morning getting ready in the bridal suite was peaceful and easy and Bridget and Fatima kept things on task. From our first walkthrough at Riverview ballroom with Stefania to the end of the wedding, everyone at the venue was amazing - helpful, accommodating, and a pleasure to work with. The space was immaculate, with beautiful views and multiple areas that worked perfectly for each part of the celebration, including a lovely outdoor ceremony ( chuppah) space. The many inclusions were a real bonus and made planning much easier: staging, chairs, tables, professional staff, bars, and valet service - which was greatly appreciated by our guests! Our band and party planner both found the venue extremely easy to work with, which truly contributed to a smooth and well-run event. We also used the venue’s recommended kosher caterer, Elite, and they did an outstanding job. The location is ideal—close to the city, easy to reach by car or public transportation. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding.

Spread over 25 acres of gardens, The Brothers Ranch features palms, tropical flowers, and bamboo that helps transport couples and their guests to another place. This lush landscape serves to enhance a couple’s wedding theme and is complete with a refurbished courtyard and barn. The Brothers Ranch has multiple ceremony and reception areas to choose from, both inside and out. In addition, there is a bar, full kitchen, and designated dressing rooms, along with the sensory-indulging gardens. Up to 400 people can gather at this venue. Soon-to-be-weds can choose their own caterer to be approved by the ranch, allowing the pair to customize their day to their tastes and preferences. Parking is available, with overflow as well. There is only one event planned per day, and the couple has the day before and after the event for setting and cleaning up. Seriously the hottest up-and-coming venue in the entire Monterey Bay area - where the beautiful and unique grounds are only the surface! Every aspect of the venue has been carefully thought out to accommodate the wedding party, guests, and vendors perfectly. The tropical foliage of the ceremony lawn offered a stunning backdrop for our vows (plus the sweet scent that wafts from nearby strawberry fields). The reception area was the perfect size and layout for our guests to eat, drink, play games, and dance throughout the night - cozy but spacious at the same time. Brothers Ranch was so beautiful and so well designed that we really didn’t need many of our own decorations. Also a huge plus for us was having access to the space for the entire weekend (Friday-Sunday) so we had plenty of time for setup and we didn’t have to worry about cleanup at the end of our wedding night! But the true heart of this venue is Jessie and Jonathan Brothers. More gracious hosts than venue owners, they helped us every step of the way to have an amazing and stress-free wedding. They both went above and beyond running around the whole weekend handling all of the little details to provide a seamless experience for us and our guests, from giving golf cart rides between the reception and ceremony spaces to rolling out heaters after sundown. So a big thank you to Jessie and Jonathan and definitely book Brother Ranch - the best venue in all of Monterey Bay for an amazing, beautiful, stress-free, and super fun wedding!

We were honored to host our wedding at Meyers Castle in August 2024 and can’t imagine having our dream day anywhere else. My husband’s been familiar with the venue for years way back when they hosted events at the speakeasy. When he described it to me it sounded too good to be true but after touring the first time words can’t describe how beautiful it is. It’s an absolute dream venue with so many beautiful backdrops and details you don’t need much decor! The garden and statues are stunning! We honeymooned in Italy and have to say this venue rivals any Italian Villa. The staff were so accommodating and helpful. The food is amazing and for smaller weddings the Oakroom is so intimate and beautiful. I wish we could relive the day over and over again. It’s so romantic and can fit any size wedding. We didn’t use the bridal suite because it’s a separate fee but found the venues all inclusive rates to be extremely affordable. Our ceremony was in front of the gazebo with the castle in the background but any location would be equally beautiful. If you’re thinking about it let this be your sign it’s just as beautiful in person as in pictures. Our wedding was even featured on Brides as a hidden NWI gem. It’s only 30 min-1 hour outside of Chicago so it wasn’t an issue for guests to get to. Thank you Meyers Castle for hosting our dream day!

How much do wedding & reception venues cost?

The cost of wedding venues varies, with factors influencing cost including size, location, guest count, and, most importantly, whether things like catering and rentals are included. The more a reception venue near you includes, the higher the cost. When considering venues, try to compare prices apples-to-apples. If one venue includes catering and rentals in their pricing and the other doesn’t, you need to figure out how much additional cost those outside vendors would be to make a true comparison. Before booking, be sure you’re aware of additional costs outlined in your contract, like parking fees and weather-related considerations (adding a tent, etc.).

What questions should we ask wedding venues?

When talking with a potential venue, always ask about 1) their availability and 2) their capacity. Some popular venues book up peak season Saturdays nearly 2 years in advance—if your first choice date isn’t available, consider your flexibility on day of the week and year. While maximum capacity is non-negotiable, venues might have guidance on what guest count will be most comfortable. Also, you’ll want to understand what is and is not included in the venue’s fees. Some include catering, tables and chairs, and linens, while others offer just the raw space. These venues are often less expensive because you are only paying for the space itself, and you’ll have to bring in outside vendors
