Our Reunion-Style Wedding at Hawkesdene I’ve struggled to put this experience into words because so much can’t be fully captured. My husband and I feel incredibly grateful to have celebrated with family and friends at this stunning estate and charming town—truly the most fun experience! Reunion-Style Wedding for 100 Guests (No wedding package, no weekend venue rental, and we were legally married beforehand to enjoy the day stress-free.) Weekday Wedding: Sunday–Tuesday (Monday was a holiday). Full Estate Rental: We covered the entire property, including optional cabins, but skipped the wedding package so we could fully host guests. DIY Ceremony: No designated aisle or seating (just a few chairs for family). It turned out beautifully! No Decor Needed: The venue is breathtaking, so we skipped decorations. Floral Rentals: Used Something Borrowed Blooms—absolutely perfect. Incredible Food: Every meal was amazing (menu below). Cost: Clearly listed on their website—no hidden fees. Tip: Get event insurance when hosting at an estate. Unexpected things can happen, and it’s peace of mind for you and the next couple. We always envisioned a wedding weekend instead of a single day. Since we live far from family, we wanted quality time together. After extensive research (and almost giving up), we found Hawkesdene on VRBO while considering an elopement in the Georgia mountains. It was the only venue that allowed us to host guests while staying within budget. Itinerary Sunday Whitewater Rafting (10 AM): Nantahala with Carolina Outfitters (highly recommend!) Breweries (1:30–3:30 PM): Hoppy Trout (great private room) & Snowbird Mountains Brewery (provided kegs). Check-in (4 PM) Dinner (7 PM) Champagne Toast at the Peak (7:45 PM): ½-mile hike—steep but worth it! S’mores & Activities (9 PM) Monday Breakfast (8:30–10 AM) Waterfall Hike (10:30–11:30 AM): 1-mile in, 1 out—rain made it tricky but worth it! Lunch (12:30–2 PM) Lawn Games (1:30–3 PM) Ceremony (5:15 PM, DIY setup) Cocktail Hour (5:30 PM) Reception & Dinner (6:45 PM) Evening Activities (8:30 PM) Tuesday Breakfast (8:30 AM) Check-out (by 11 AM) The Food The food was phenomenal—to flawlessly cook this much fish deserves an award. We skipped a cake and were thrilled with the chef’s dessert selections. Menu: Salads: Greek & Balsamic Entrees: Salmon (Night 1), Honey-Balsamic Chicken (Night 1), Trout (Night 2), Steak (Night 2) Sides: Squash, Green Beans, Sweet Potato, Mac & Cheese, Asparagus, Broccolini Logistics & Final Thoughts Jami & Rob were fantastic. If you choose Reunion Style (no wedding package), be prepared to handle logistics yourself. It worked perfectly for us but isn’t for everyone. Their website outlines everything—read it carefully! Alcohol: We used Appalachian Beverage in Ellijay (they have everything). We provided a small amount of liquor, but most guests got their own—so refer back to my event insurance note! Soak it all in. This place is truly magical—like the Disney of wedding venues. We wouldn’t change a thing, and our guests still rave about it. Highly recommend for a unique and unforgettable wedding weekend!

The Mustard Seed Venue was the perfect choice for our wedding. From the moment we first reached out, their communication was quick and efficient. The entire venue was beautiful, from the cabin for the reception to the ceremony site. I think the fact that the owner, Kathryn, took it upon herself to help dry seats for guests because it started raining just shows how much they care. The staff is super kind and the stay was great. It was literally exactly what we both wanted for our big day. The kindness they showed and the fact that we could reach out and immediately get a response was wonderful.

From start to finish, the process was smooth and professional, thanks to the incredible team of Pam and Gracie, who facilitated the operations at the venue. We had our wedding here, and I truly can’t say enough good things about the experience. Lesley, the owner, is so kind and thoughtful. When a last-minute hiccup happened with our welcome wall, she hand-painted it herself — just to make sure everything was perfect for our big day. We are so grateful! She was there the whole time checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed. Our family stayed in the cutest, coziest cabins — everyone loved them! Throughout the weekend, the staff were so helpful and attentive. The staff members and Lesley picked us up in golf carts and drove us wherever we needed to go, which made everything feel effortless. The vineyard itself is breathtaking — it was the perfect backdrop for our wedding, and our guests are still talking about how beautiful it all was. It was everything we hoped for and more.

We got married just a week after Hurricane Helene hit, and we were devastated thinking our wedding might not happen or be what we had envisioned. Haley, Elliot, Jordan, and Katie went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, from finding propane tanks to securing the food we needed and staying in constant communication with us. By the grace of God, the power came back two days before the wedding, but Serenity Ridge was prepared even if it hadn’t. The day turned out to be everything we dreamed of and more. We cannot thank the team enough for their hospitality, communication, and kindness throughout the process. Not to mention, the venue itself was beautiful—stunning mountain views, delicious breakfast-for-dinner catering, and cute furniture made it all even more perfect. We highly recommend Serenity Ridge for anyone looking for the perfect venue for their big day!

I wanted a wedding venue in the mountains of North Carolina. I viewed so many venues from Salem to Banner Elk. Nothing compared to The Fields of Blackberry Cove. They were easy to set up a viewing appointment with. They walked us all around the property, including multiple ceremony options and a large guest house with a bridal suite and two guest bathrooms. Doug, the owner, offers his own catering which was beyound incredible. We did a buffet style and it was all delicious. Doug even made me my own cauliflower steak - I'm a vegetarian. Through the entire process Doug and his team, especially Carmen, were a pleasure to work with.

My daughter and I came to this venue after visiting many but after talking to Ashley we knew we had found the perfect place. She was easy to talk to, was willing to make my daughter's wedding dreams come to life, and she was just as excited for the day as my daughter was (It is clear she loves what she does). Instantly felt like she was a friend of the family. The backdrop to this venue is stunning with rolling, well-manicured fields and a pond enhanced by sunrises and sunsets. Like a romance novel come to life. The barn is the perfect place to join families together, create memories, and find peace in a hectic day. Ashley gives her brides the opportunity to plan and practice with special "venue practice" days. So helpful and she has so many decor items for brides to use from their warehouse (which is included). But she allows brides to bring whatever is in their vision. The bridal suite is dreamy, roomy, and you can tell Ashley knows what the bride will need. The furniture and chandeliers are so elegant for pictures. The groom's suite was the perfect masculine vibe with a pool table and access to gaming fun... again so much attention to details. Even the restrooms are on trend and very clean. Amazing venue, the sweetest staff that work hard from beginning to end, and Ashley was there to calm the nerves while attending to anything we needed. She is the absolute BEST! God has given her a gift and it is seen in her mission at Emerald Hill. You should check this place out for your wedding or special event... it truly is a sight to experience. The price is affordable and fair for all that is included. I am so glad my daughter found and chose this place for her special day. Whether your wedding is inside or outside, The Emerald Hill venue, the staff and the owner, Ashley will not disappoint.

From the moment we started planning with The Barn at Elk Shoal Creek, Rebecca and her team made us feel like our wedding was their priority. We believe that celebrating life and hosting is one of the greatest joys imaginable. Our lives take us in so many different directions, that finding the time, much less the space to be together feels impossible. When events can be firmly put on the calendar, you have achieved an amazing feat. Gathering so many people with different lives and schedules for one night is a monumental task. We have an incredibly large family ourselves so every birthday and holiday feels like a massive event. Once you nail down the date, we want to be the space where you can host your loved ones. Where you can share food and drink, and create a memory that will stay with them for a lifetime. We would be honored if you could create those memories with us. We created this space with our family in mind and we hope we can share it with yours

I have photographed with Klarie on numerous occasions, including restaurant photos, family portraits, and photography of her own events. Every time, Klarie has been such a joy to work with and so easy to communicate with, so I have no doubt that clients will be in good hands planning their events here! As a wedding and event photographer, there are many things I look for in a venue which can set it apart as deserving of a recommendation. After touring Suenos, it's very clear that Klarie put a lot of thought and intention into every aspect of the venue's design. Having an outdoor space which is covered is a very smart thing with our NC weather, and having a barn-style indoor space with so many windows allows for beautiful ambient light even when indoors. The indoor bathrooms in the barn are some of the nicest venue bathrooms I've seen, and it's great to have outdoor bathrooms just a few steps away as well. Because the venue is so far off the road and set back against the treeline, the entire space feels very peaceful and secluded, while still being easily accessible. And I absolutely adore the cottage (and it's bathtub!) which would be perfect for getting ready photos. Klarie has an exceptional eye for decor and design, so I love that the spaces can be tailored to fit each of her events. Each of the venue spaces as well as the property itself feels spacious, offers a huge variety of photo backdrops perfect for any season, and has fantastic light both during the day and once the sun has set. I look forward to getting to photograph here!

The property is so beautiful! My wedding was April 11 so there wasn’t really any leaves on the trees yet but the view of the mountains they have is so great you don’t really need them. It was fun getting to stay for a four day weekend and enjoy time with everyone on more than just the wedding day! We were able to do the ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner and dancing all outside at this venue which was what was most important to me. We rented golf carts which was very useful because of how the property is split up by a hill.
