SONA reimagines the wonders of Indian fare through elevated, timeless cuisine with a distinctly New York point of view. The space evokes a bygone era of a boisterous yet elegant India—all within the heart of New York City's Flatiron District. From the moment guests arrive they are taken on a sensory journey: This starts with greetings by our hosts, evolves with the scent of our SONA Home candles and the sounds of our custom curated soundtrack. Chef Hari Nayak interprets the rich and vibrant cuisine of regional India in a modern, approachable way. SONA’s beverage program, featuring seasonal G&Ts, is inspired by the culture and spirit of India, using the finest ingredients and flavors in modern interpretations of storied classics. Mimi's at SONA is our exquisite private dining room named after Priyanka “Mimi” Chopra Jonas. Mimi's (Private Dining Room)

Mimi's at SONA is our exquisite private dining room. Gather your loved ones for an intimate meal hidden beneath one of NYC's hottest restaurants.

Mimi's is the perfect venue for more intimate gatherings, such as rehearsal/welcome dinners, bridal showers, cocktail receptions, farewell brunches, and intimate wedding celebrations. Enjoy favorites from our dinner menu, cocktails & bites, or our inventive New York-meets-Indian brunch menu (think everything bagel naan, cardamom waffles, and our take on a burger). The space can be configured for seated dinners at a single table for up to 30 guests, or for standing cocktails for up to 50.

Celebrate with us in our expansive Indo-Deco inspired Main Dining Room: the ultimate destination for a chic, bustling event in the heart of NYC

The light-filled front dining area can be cleared for cocktails and passed bites (in tandem with our bar area), replaced with a dance floor, or configured to seat a large group across one or more long tables. The sultry rear dining area features built-in leather banquettes with room for longer tables at the center and perimeter, perfect for seated events. Full use of the space is recommended for 40+ guests, while half buyouts are available for smaller seated meals or cocktail celebrations.

Event bookings typically include three hours from start to finish, plus 1 hour pre-event for set up and 1 hour post-event for tear down. Any additional time will be billed hourly in accordance with the specific space booked.
We have a robust cocktail program and extensive wine list which we encourage you to try! Should you wish to enjoy wines outside of our offering, kindly note our corkage fee of $50 per 750ml bottle. Unfortunately, outside liquor is not permitted on site.
Yes! We have a wealth of options for vegetarians and vegans alike, as well as accommodations for other dietary restrictions. We would be happy to guide you through our menu to suit the needs of your party.
Yes! Our in-house pastry chef would be happy to work with you on a custom cake for your event (additional charges apply, prices start at $150 for an 8" cake). You are also welcome to bring your own. Kindly note our cake cutting fee of $8 per guest.
Peak periods include Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights year-round, Saturday brunch, and nightly throughout the months of November and December.
Off-Peak periods generally include Sunday through Wednesday nights weekly during the months of January, February, March, July and August.
We do not offer parking services, however, metered street parking may be available on our block after 7pm and garages abound throughout the area.
Yes, our facilities are wheelchair accessible. There is one step that leads to our main entrance, for which we have a ramp available if needed. Our private dining room is located one floor below ground level and can be made accessible via the exterior service elevator (in addition to the main stairwell from our dining room).
We do not charge a rental fee for our spaces, rather, we charge food and beverage minimums based on the space selected, number of guests, per-person food and beverage packages chosen, and event date and time. All food and beverage charges are applied to that minimum, and if not met, the minimum will be billed as a rental. You may spend over the minimum requirement. Included with the space are our in-house tables and chairs, standard white linens, SONA Home bone china, standard glassware and flatware. We provide candles throughout the space and customizable printed menus.
A 50% deposit and signed contract are required for all bookings. Final payments will be processed upon conclusion of the event. Deposits are refundable if the cancellation occurs 90 days prior to the event for our main dining room, 30 days prior for our private dining room. After that point the deposit is non-refundable. The total estimated due is collected for cancellations within 30 days from the event for our main dining room and 10 days from the event for our private dining room.
We charge a taxable administration fee of 3-5% depending on the space reserved. In addition, we suggest a minimum 20% gratuity for the service staff. Additional services such as florals, dance floor and other decor installations are also chargeable. Our tax rate is 8.875% and applies to all charges except gratuity.
