“Milton Ridge was an incredible place to get married! The beauty of the venue and the inclusive wedding options (i.e. catering, DJ, etc.) made this the absolute perfect place to say, "I do!" The getting ready suites were superb & made the day of preparation before the ceremony seamless. The chapel was so beautiful and such a great little spot off the side of 355. Our guests still comment on the simplicity of how we decorated the chapel, and how beautiful the white walls and natural light streaming in were during the ceremony. I was not sure how we'd get group photos on the property... and our photographers were able to use the beautiful stone and green areas within the venue to capture the most beautiful photos of the bride, groom and the wedding party! Guests are still RAVING about how convenient it was to walk up a few stairs to the cocktail hour AND into the reception. They marveled at the ease... park your car, attend the ceremony and then stay and party all night long until it's time to leave! The reception hall was beautiful; the buffet food was to die for; and Meghan and Brandi ensured that EVERY detail of our wedding day was accounted for, seamless and flowing without any hitch! I cannot recommend Milton Ridge enough! Thank you for making our wedding day the most memorable and BEST day of our lives! We owe it to this team, this venue and their support with planning our wedding every step of the way!”

“Julie, Scott, and their team made our wedding day perfect. From the first site visit and throughout the planning process, they were amazing communicators. The venue has gorgeous outdoor spaces for the ceremony and cocktail reception. The indoor space is flexible for a reception with a dance floor. There are chairs for both the ceremony and reception as well as tables. We chose to have a June wedding and when the temps entered the upper 90s, we were grateful for the A/C reception space. Even better, there are two suites that the wedding party can use to make for a seamless process getting ready. We enjoyed our experience so very much. Lastly, the bathrooms there were also excellent and let’s be real, that’s a crucial component for any good party.”

“Jack and I could not have imagined a better venue for our wedding than The Club at Glenmore in Keswick, Virginia. Growing up in Charlottesville, I knew that I wanted to get married in my hometown. Wineries are a popular choice in Charlottesville, but they are mostly located in the surrounding counties which require a long drive from hotels. Winery weddings can also require coordinating a lot of rentals (decor, tables, chairs, etc.) and finding a caterer. After researching all of the venues around Charlottesville, we chose The Club at Glenmore or many reasons. One, the beautiful and convenient location. Glenmore was conveniently located only about 10 minutes from our hotel block on Pantops which made it easy for guests and shuttles. Even though the location is close to town, it is situated inside a beautiful gated neighborhood with views of the mountains, rolling horse pastures, and well maintained golf course. So it feels like it's out in the country without actually being that far away from town! Two, the full service. Glenmore provides so much for its couples! It has an amazing on-site chef so we did not need to find a separate catering company. This was one of our main deciding factors! Couples even do the food & wine tasting at the venue which makes for a fun day trip :) Glenmore provides all of the ceremony chairs, reception chairs, tables, glassware, serving ware, flatware, etc. So we did not need to rent anything except purchase some decorations. Speaking of decorations, Glenmore has many decor pieces that we were able to use! They have arbors, prosecco walls, a boxwood wall for photo opps, votive candle and holders, charger plates, up-lights, bistro lights, etc. Three, the amenities. Getting ready spaces, ceremony locations, cocktail terrace, reception ballroom - Glenmore has it all! Glenmore has a beautiful bridal suite that the ladies in my bridal party were able to use all morning. The bridal suite has plenty of room to get ready in, hang dresses in, store decor in, and even take pictures in. There is a separate space downstairs where the guys can get ready in too! We all enjoyed spending the morning and early afternoon together in these spaces while eating breakfast and lunch prepared for by Glenmore! The space was also convenient for our vendors too. They could come and check in with me throughout the morning since I was getting ready on-site. There are many ceremony locations to choose from if you want your ceremony at Glenmore. We actually switched our ceremony location within about 2 weeks of the wedding and Glenmore was very accommodating with this switch. Finally, the beautiful ballroom was another major deciding factor for us. We had our wedding in the summer, so we knew we wanted to have the reception indoors in an air conditioned room. Four, the staff. Glenmore takes pride in providing top notch service to its clients. Kim, the event coordinator at Glenmore, helped us so much from start to finish. She walked us through the wedding process, answered the many questions we had, worked with all of our vendors, met with us for our tasting and walkthroughs, made sure that all of our requests were met, and coordinated the entire Glenmore team on our wedding day. If you are looking for a beautiful full-service wedding venue with everything including an amazing on-site caterer, top notch staff, convenient location, and gorgeous views, Glenmore is the place for you!!”

Venue considerations

  • Best for events with big guest lists

“Selecting The Estate at River Run as our wedding venue was the single best decision we made throughout our entire wedding planning process. It wasn't just a venue; it felt like home and provided the perfect backdrop for one of the most important days of our lives. From our engagement photos to our rehearsal dinner and the wedding day itself, this stunning estate was a dream. We opted for the Friday early access package in addition to the overnight package, and it made all the difference. We got access to the Estate at 2pm on Friday and my bridesmaids and I were able to stay the night before, which transformed the wedding morning into a truly relaxing and joyous experience. We were able to handle all the final preparations on Friday, leaving Saturday morning completely stress-free. The true magic of this venue, however, lies with Kim and her team. They are, without a doubt, the best in the business. Their kindness, professionalism, incredible attention to detail, and seamless organization are unmatched. They truly think of everything, anticipating needs before you even realize you have them. Their guidance and support were a genuine blessing, allowing us to be fully present and enjoy every moment. The venue itself is breathtaking, offering so many different and beautiful locations for all the various events. It is truly a place where memories are not just made, but treasured. We are so incredibly grateful to The Estate at River Run for hosting our special day. It was everything we could have ever wanted and more.”

The barn has a great selection of decor that we were able to use to enhance our wedding aesthetic. The space itself is perfect for both the ceremony and reception, with beautiful scenic views. We were able to just have the place to ourselves for the day, and the day before for set up, and it felt so nice to be able to just choose our own vendors/bartenders/etc. and not be confined to preselected ones. We couldn't have asked for a better venue and are so appreciative of Dixie's expertise and the beautiful barn setting Fox Meadow provides.”

“Comus Farm is stunning. The entire property is beautifully maintained with numerous options for ceremony, reception, and photos. The house is perfect for wedding party to stay at and get ready in. Lauren and Kara are the SWEETEST and most patient people who made the process very smooth. I have an anxiety disorder and they both were so kind and easy to work which helped me so much. They coordinated with the vendors, stocked the house with breakfast for the bridal party, set up all of the decorations perfectly, and took care of every detail without hesitation. Truly exceptional service and worth every penny. Highly recommend!”

It was enormous, new, and bright! We instantly knew this was the perfect venue. Booked it and can't wait!! Black Horse Manor ended the venue hunt. Which was great because it can be exhausting looking every weekend.”

The team was incredibly helpful in guiding us through the planning process and accommodating our needs. The venue itself was absolutely beautiful, with a lovely rustic charm that set the tone for our special day. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, our meeting house was constructed in 1930 during the administration of the Quaker president, Herbert Hoover. It was built to serve as a house of worship and a gathering place for those wanting to “seek peace and pursue it.” The building was enlarged in 1950. In 1970, we acquired the red brick Quaker House, Carriage House and garden at 2121 Decatur Place NW. Built in the 1920s and also on the National Register, these buildings today house a number of nonprofit organizations and small businesses as well as additional event spaces. With multiple interior spaces and gardens, we can accommodate events of various sizes and layouts, from 2 to 300. We host individuals, non-profit organizations, and for-profit entities. Our event rental prices are affordable, with discounts offered to non-profit organizations in alignment with our values. Whether you are planning a wedding, celebration, a corporate meeting, we can accommodate you.

“Our recent wedding at the Friends Meeting of Washington (near Dupont Circle) was the best possible choice of venue we could make. The staff was helpful, professional, caring, and did all they could to make our day run smoothly. It was lovely to hold the ceremony, reception, and the dancing in one venue. Their beautiful, light-fillled Meeting House space on the second floor well accommodated our very large group of family and friends, and their newly renovated courtyard made it possible to hold the reception and dinner outdoors. We danced indoors on the first floor. It was memorable to me, my beloved, and my family members that I could be married in the same room where my family attended Quaker meeting in the 1960's, where my father's memorial service was held in the mid 'seventies, and where I attended services regularly when I was a young working woman in the 1980's. Many thanks to Brian Luttenegger, Genevi Schindehutte , and the FMW community for all you did to make our wedding day so memorable.”

About wedding venues in Virginia

Virginia combines breathtaking landscapes, historic charm, and versatile settings that make it an exceptional wedding destination. You'll find everything from the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains to stunning coastal settings where Virginia venues blend natural beauty with historic significance and genuine Southern hospitality. October tends to be the most popular month for wedding inquiries so keep that in mind when planning your special day.

What Makes Virginia Wedding Venues So Special?

Each Virginia region offers completely different venue experiences. Northern Virginia gives you sophisticated estates near DC with easy access to international airports for out-of-town guests. Charlottesville captivates with stunning vineyard settings where rows of grapevines create natural ceremony aisles you and your guests will remember forever. Richmond delivers historic urban venues featuring original hardwood floors and exposed brick that need minimal decoration. Coastal Virginia offers waterfront venues with direct beach access and those unobstructed sunset views that make for incredible wedding photos.

How Much Do Wedding Venues in Virginia Cost?

Virginia wedding venues typically cost between $8,100 and $9,800 with the average venue running about $8,952; that's only 18% of your total wedding costs which is actually better than the national benchmark of 25%. Most couples across the US spend between $6,500-$12,000 on their venue. Your total wedding budget will largely depend on your guest count: - 50 guests: $22,085 - 100 guests: $36,804 - 150 guests: $50,641 - 200 guests: $63,007 - 250 guests: $75,372 - 300 guests: $87,738

Where Can You Find Accessible Wedding Venues in Virginia?

Shadow Creek in Purcellville features fully handicap-accessible facilities with wheelchair-accessible parking and can accommodate up to 300 guests so everyone on your list can join comfortably. Rixey Manor in Northern Virginia offers ADA accessibility for all event spaces except the rooftop and works well for gatherings up to 200 guests. Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art provides mobility-accessible spaces with free on-site parking including an atrium that can seat up to 200 guests in a unique cultural setting.

Which Virginia Venues Support Remote Participation?

The Mill at Fine Creek near Richmond and Charlottesville is perfectly equipped for coordinating hybrid wedding logistics with on-site guest cottages and a team that's experienced in customizing wedding experiences for your specific needs. Stevenson Ridge in Spotsylvania offers flexibility that could easily accommodate remote participation for guests who can't attend in person. Tranquility Farm in Purcellville provides a 48-hour Weekend Wedding Experience giving you plenty of time to incorporate virtual engagement options for distant loved ones.

What Are the Best Food-Forward Wedding Venues in Virginia?

Dover Hall in Manakin-Sabot features Chef Leah's exceptional cuisine in an elegant setting surrounded by priceless paintings and lavish furniture your guests will talk about for years. 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church combines exquisite dining with stunning water views that create an unforgettable backdrop for your celebration. Mount Ida Farm in Charlottesville's wine country offers comprehensive wedding experiences spread across 5,000 acres of scenic landscape. Clifton Inn features a European-style setting with food sourced from their organic vegetable garden and an impressive wine cellar your guests will love.

How Can You Find Your Perfect Virginia Wedding Venue?

Start by identifying venues that work with your guest count and budget while offering your preferred indoor/outdoor options. You should definitely visit potential venues during your preferred wedding season to see exactly how lighting conditions and climate will affect your big day. Ask specifically about vendor policies since Virginia venues range from all-inclusive packages to complete vendor flexibility where you can bring in your own team. For comprehensive wedding planning consider using services that offer vendor marketplaces with detailed information on capacity amenities and pricing. These often include registry and guest management systems that make your entire planning process much smoother from start to finish.
