“First and foremost, let me be clear. The food was tasty, everything arrived on time and my guests were fed. End of day, thats all you could ask for. Right? So if that's all you need, then I think this caterer definitely checks all the boxes!
There were some things we loved about this vendor and somethings we didn't.
Starting off with the (many!) positives :
- The day of the staff was professional and knew what they were doing
- The variety of menu options were pretty substantial
- We acknowledge that we were an extremely unique wedding with a really tight budget, we appreciate Danielle's communication and flexibility with us during this time.
- Set up went exactly according to our notes and requests
- Danielle was very knowledgable / experienced
Some Negatives :
- Over half of guests (especially family) recalled never seeing our late night pizza being passed around, yet somehow I went home with 8 boxes of leftover FULL pizzas. If we just didn't have enough pizza, that would have been on us. But the fact that we had so much pizza, that we actually had leftovers and over half my guests complained about not seeing the pizza, is upsetting.
- We definitely had to repeat ourselves a lot to Danielle. In Danielle's defense, we had a ton of questions and our wedding coordinator started a few one off threads with her as well. So I'm sure it got confusing. But there were definitely times I had to answer the same question more than twice and it made me SUPER unconfident for the day of. Which just isn't what I needed to feel.
- My sister made and decorated our cake. On the day of, she had to go into the kitchen to finish the lettering and she expressed that Nick not only made her uncomfortable with his active hostility to the team, but also started adjusting parts of her cake presentation before she could finish.
- I want to stress that we were definitely difficult in the sense that our budget was SO small and we needed to count every penny. Danielle revised our estimate so many times in the very beginning, which was so great! But one month before our wedding we needed to refine the meal plan again (which is allowed!). But she refused to revise our estimate until the week of the wedding. Which if you have all the money in the world, fine you can wait until the week of. But if you're struggling to make the ends of your wedding meet, then yeah. Pretty hard to wait until the week before. Near the end, every communication with Danielle felt like she was frustrated and over us. We KNOW we are not her only wedding, and we know we were not her biggest spenders. But near the end the team started making us feel more like a nuisance than a client. We spent the month of our wedding in fear of being dropped.
- Danielle knew we were at our wits end with money. Which is why we found it extremely distasteful that she contacted us to ask why we didn't tip. For the record, we had every intention of tipping after the wedding via zelle, but needed to wait until some of our check deposits cleared. But her asking us why we didn't tip, no less then 48 hours later made us feel extremely uncomfortable & punished.
- We felt fought just about of every step of the way with a lot of our decisions. Which is pretty upsetting. I understand needing to protect yourself and your business, but thousands of dollars later we just want to feel confident our caterer had our back too.”
