We wanted a DJ company that can follow what we wanted, what we put on the forms, a DJ to play our music, fill in great songs to match our taste and style, to pack the dance floor (we know this isn't a reasonable request as this relies on guests, not solely the DJ alone), a DJ that can pick music to encourage guests to dance, and show up on time and do not a perfect job, but amazing job. And this DJ did just that! Our fear was a dance that had poor music and no dancers. That's it. We've seen so many other DJ fail at this. Not this DJ company, they were amazing and exceeded all requirements above. The DJ was outstanding and worth every penny. And I loved that I could call the COMPANY at 10pm with questions. Knock out job and very well done. Highly recommend these amazing (not perfect) humans! :)”

After searching for a DJ for about two weeks, we stumbled upon Groovytown Entertainment through Instagram, and everything fell into place. Our main focus was on the ceremony, as we wanted my cousins to play piano and guitar while guests arrived. We needed a DJ who could seamlessly accommodate this setup. At the same time, we also wanted someone who could keep the dance floor packed all night—both my family and my wife’s family love to dance! When we reached out, we connected with Biko, who immediately impressed us during a video chat. Just minutes into the call, we knew we were in good hands. Biko’s expertise with weddings was evident; he had so much energy and gave us insights about the timeline and flow of the day that we hadn’t even considered. “This as an excellent Jazz band. We had an outdoor wedding in August with a theme of a summer garden party. We wanted a live Jazz band to play 3 x 45 min sets and after finding Reception Jazz on line they seemed to be perfect. I had a couple of conversations with Scott in advance to discuss the details and became immediately aware that this band was going to be professional and easy to work with. We booked a 3 piece (Keys, Bass and Drums) and the week before the wedding we called and asked if they could also bring a Sax player (Which they did). Even that late change was no problem. We live streamed our wedding to several other countries as people couldn't travel with COVID-19 and some technical difficulties meant that the timing of the musical sets was disrupted. Scott and the guys were amazing and simply went with the flow. There is a lot to manage in a wedding but we didn't need to manage this band. They were perfect.”

“I found Mike via thumbtack & although on there it stated he was booked on my wedding date I thought I’d still reach out to him. I’m so happy I did because he put me in touch with our dj, thankyouteddy and he did an awesome job djing for our wedding! Mike was very informative and gave me plenty of information. He also has you do a questionnaire to help narrow down the right dj for you based off your music preferences. Mike will reached out periodically to follow up & also puts you in touch with the dj the week of the wedding to go over details. Teddy arrived on time and kept everyone on our toes throughout the night. The only thing I will say, is if you’re doing bridal party introductions it’s best to rehearse it if possible. Or give an exact time of the song for your dj to play when each couple comes out.”

The ceremony music was perfect, the timing was exactly right, and he helped create the exact feeling we wanted for the day. He used my Spotify playlists as inspiration for our pre-ceremony and cocktail hour music, so those moments felt completely like us and set the perfect vibe from the beginning. For the reception, he did an amazing job reading the room, keeping the energy going, and making sure everything flowed without us ever having to worry about what was happening next. One of the things we appreciated most was how much he cared about making the day personal. He worked behind the scenes with our officiant and friends on a few surprises, and those little moments ended up meaning so much to us. We wanted our wedding to feel relaxed, personal, and like a true celebration with our favorite people, and Drew played such a big part in creating that atmosphere.
