The Downtown Collective Band was established in 2016 as just a couple of guys who wanted to jam out in the attic. We got some small gigs here and there doing hybrid DJ/live music performances. Then we found friends from music school/work that played instruments and made the jam bigger and got more gigs. Now we are known as one of the top bands in the Midwest. We love playing live music because you get a much more authentic experience with people actually playing instruments and sharing what they feel deep down in their soul as they perform! All of our past clients agree- Downtown Collective is a high energy group that gets everyone dancing!

We aren't like your typical band because we like to put the focus on the event and the people involved. We are really good at reading the crowd and mixing our set list up to play music for everyone. The stage and dance floor combines into a community of people having the time of their lives! People are dancing AND singing with us. Yes we are a cover band, but we actually cover the songs and do our own little spins on the arrangements of the songs.

Downtown Collective was quite simply one of the BEST parts of our wedding day. From playing our first dance live, to learning a few Taylor Swift songs for this Swiftie bride, to keeping the dance floor packed all night long - they really did it all! Weeks after the wedding people are still talking about them. I even had a friend who is switching from a DJ to a band because they were THAT good. We are so thankful they were apart of our day!!

They were easy to work with, took the time to get to know us and our story, and absolutely killed the performance on our wedding night. Our experience with Downtown Collective was nothing short of fantastic. From the moment we booked them to the last song of the night, they were professional, accommodating, and incredibly talented. The band created an amazing atmosphere, and our guests were on the dance floor all night long. Their energy and ability to read the crowd were exceptional. The best dance floor experience at a wedding, hands down! The atmosphere The Downtown Collective creates is truly unmatched. Yes we provide both lighting and a photo booth for rentals! We own an open air Guac Essentials Photo Booth (made by Photo Booth Supply Co.) and we have different lighting options from brands such as Chauvet, Venue, etc. Ask us about our lighting and photo booth options for more information!

We typically like to arrive to the venue about 2.5-3 hours prior to guest arrival. That gives us plenty of time to do our setup and sound check!

Yes we are happy to learn new songs for each event we do! If for some reason we don't play a song live we will make sure it gets played over the speakers from a music device.

We like to keep it classy and wear traditional black and white at our formal events such as weddings or galas, but let us know if you have a different vibe for your event and we can match our look to it!

Yes we can provide musicians for both! We have violinists, guitarists, pianists, vocalists, and more all ready to go! We can play music from when the guests get seated all the way until the recessional when you are pronounced as married! We can also provide sound equipment such as speakers and microphones for the officiant to use if needed. For cocktail hour, we typically like to have a smaller ensemble of 3-5 musicians led by saxophone or a vocalist to play low volume music to allow guests to chat and mingle. This is a great way to get the party started! Ask us about our ceremony or live cocktail hour packages for more information!

We can if you want! If we know the song or think we can learn it in time for your event, we will definitely play it. We like to learn new songs at every wedding or event we do. It is also very important that you let us read the crowd and do our thing. After hundreds of performances, we know how to keep the dance floor energy up and what songs work the best! Please feel free to send us your list of song requests so we can get an idea of what you want us to play!

We have anywhere between 9-12 musicians, and sometimes even a DJ comes along and performs with us! We do not do any events with less than 9 musicians for the after-dinner dance party because we strongly believe in bringing you an EXPERIENCE with our top tier vocalists, dynamic horn players, and our amazing rhythm section. You wouldn't ask Earth, Wind, & Fire, Harry Styles, or Bruno Mars to show up with just a trio or quartet!
