The Downtown Collective

Owner/Lead Singer

The Downtown Collective Band was established in 2016 as just a couple of guys who wanted to jam out in the attic. We started by getting some small gigs here and there doing hybrid DJ/live music performances. Then we found friends from music school at UNL that played instruments and made the jam bigger and got more gigs. Now we are known as one of the top bands in the Midwest. We love playing live music because you get a much more authentic experience with people actually playing instruments and connecting with the crowd! All of our past clients agree- Downtown Collective is a high energy group that gets everyone dancing!

We aren't like your typical band because we like to put the focus on the event and the people involved. We customize our band lineup and set list based off what our clients request after we sit down with them and discuss their vision for their wedding or event. We are pros when it comes to reading the crowd and mixing our set list up to play music for everyone. The stage and dance floor combines into a community of people having the time of their lives! People are dancing AND singing with us all night!

    Downtown Collective is amazing!!

    Downtown Collective played at my daughter's rehearsal, ceremony and wedding reception and were absolutely amazing. They were so great to work with and are so talented. The music was great at all 3 events and they kept the dance floor hopping at the reception. So glad we chose them, we couldn't be happier with the way the weekend went!!!

    Downtown Collective

    We had an incredible experience working with Downtown Collective. We had seen them multiple times at previous weddings and they were first on the list for ours. They are extremely easy to work with, incredibly talented, and willing to work with you to curate the perfect event. We had multiple people ask us after the fact who they were and how to book them for their own special events. We highly recommend!

    Band Review

    One of the best decisions we made for our wedding day was hiring Downtown Collective! We have received so many compliments on how talented and fun the band was! They brought the best energy and played right into the vibe of our large group perfectly! We would use them again in a heartbeat!!!

    Great Music, Easy to work with

    Brandon and Cornell were a pleasure to work with from start till the late night finish of our event. In all my years at Creighton, I've never seen anyone dance like they did this year. It was a pleasure and I'm sure we will be using them for years to come.

    The best band in Nebraska 3

    OBSESSED with The Downtown Collective. We had THE BEST Wedding day experience with them. We were told by friends who had book this band that they would blow us away and it's completely true. Thank you to Ether for the calls leading up to the day, Cornell for guiding us through the evening and the entire band for sharing their talent with all of our family and friends. It was a night we will never forget!

Yes we work with some of the very best DJs in our local area! We are extremely picky about our DJs and make sure we vet them not only with their professionalism, but also their ability to pack a dance floor and keep the energy up. We also provide both lighting and a photo booth for rentals! We own an open air Guac Essentials Photo Booth (made by Photo Booth Supply Co.) and we have different lighting options from brands such as Chauvet, Venue, etc. Ask us about our lighting and photo booth options for more information!
We typically like to arrive to the venue about 2.5-3 hours prior to guest arrival. That gives us plenty of time to do our setup and sound check!
Yes we are happy to learn new songs for each event we do! If for some reason we don't play a song live we will make sure it gets played over the speakers from a music device.
We like to keep it classy and wear traditional black and white at our formal events such as weddings or galas, but let us know if you have a different vibe for your event and we can match our look to it!
Yes we can provide musicians for both! We have violinists, guitarists, pianists, vocalists, and more all ready to go! We can play music from when the guests get seated all the way until the recessional when you are pronounced as married! We can also provide sound equipment such as speakers and microphones for the officiant to use if needed. For cocktail hour, we typically like to have a smaller ensemble of 3-5 musicians led by saxophone or a vocalist to play low volume music to allow guests to chat and mingle. This is a great way to get the party started! Ask us about our ceremony or live cocktail hour packages for more information!
We can if you want! If we know the song or think we can learn it in time for your event, we will definitely play it. We like to learn new songs at every wedding or event we do. It is also very important that you let us read the crowd and do our thing. After hundreds of performances, we know how to keep the dance floor energy up and what songs work the best! Please feel free to send us your list of song requests so we can get an idea of what you want us to play!
We have anywhere between 9-12 musicians, and sometimes even a DJ comes along and performs with us! We do not do any events with less than 9 musicians for the after-dinner dance party because we strongly believe in bringing you an EXPERIENCE with our top tier vocalists, dynamic horn players, and our amazing rhythm section. You wouldn't ask Earth, Wind, & Fire, Harry Styles, or Bruno Mars to show up with just a trio or quartet!
99% of the time, no we do not do Sunday events. We usually prefer to keep that day open for our musicians to be able to have time to rest or be with their families since we are usually pretty busy the rest of the week with our other jobs, rehearsals, and gigs!
