The son of a 70's soul singer, Maples enjoyed sifting through and listening to his father’s records, 8-tracks and reel-to-reels as a child. After falling in love with hip-hop in the 80s, he began producing songs in the 90s while utilizing his father's records. Shortly thereafter, he signed a major record deal as a rapper, joining the likes of Missy Elliot and Aaliyah.
